I went into this next episode expecting Tartar to confront Qifrey and demand answers about the mysterious bright light and his grandfather's sudden amnesia. But instead got one of the most wholesome episodes of the series so far.
Watching Tartar discover that he could preform magic despite his silversight was so inspirational! I think what made it hit harder was remembering his feelings towards being a witch apprentice from last week. He carries so much doubt and fear about himself. He already accepted the limits everyone else placed on him, so seeing that spark of hope slowly glow into excitement felt incredibly rewarding! His joy was so pure. It reminded me of Coco's first excitement discovering that she can be a witch apprentice. I love how compassionate Witch Hat Atelier is. So many stories would have turned this into a dramatic confrontation. But instead the series chose kindness and drifted into a beautiful side story about hope. It focused on encouragement, possibility, and what it means to believe in yourself when you've spent your whole life listening to the voices telling you its impossible. By the end, I wasn't even worried about Qifrey answering Tartar anymore. Seeing him realize that his future might be so much bigger than he ever imagined was everything. It reminded me what magic is really for.
