I know a lot of you recommended both the theatrical cut and the Rogue Cut for a first time watch. After going back and forth A LOT, I decided to watch the theatrical version for many reasons. I talk about a few of them in the intro here, but I also realized even for myself the Rogue Cut isn't as readily available for those who watch the sync along format. I also wanted to experience the more fluid storytelling of the theatrical version first which is apparently the reason so many of you loved this one when it first released! I'll definitely be going back to check out the Rogue Cut since I absolutely LOVED this film.What I loved the most about this one was the overwhelming sense of hope vs inevitability. Seeing everyone die right away gave me some serious X-Men: The Last Stand PTSD lol. But then the timeline started to shift and change. I loved the concept of this entire movie! Seeing younger Charles meet the man he will one day grow into was such a beautifully powerful scene. And James McAvoy was still phenomenal. Even when I was angry at his constant toxic cycle of revenge. And Quicksilver! I wasn't prepared for how fun and effortlessly cool he'd be. I remember him from WandaVision and you all told me about the inside joke from his role in the X-Men films. But I completely forgot about that until I saw 'Maximoff' pop up on the mailbox outside of his house! After spending so much time in a future filled with loss and cycles of hatred for mutants, seeing the timeline rewritten felt pretty awesome and satisfying. It has me really excited to see where the storyline goes from here now that mostly everything from the original trilogy is part of the future past lol.
