DESCRIPTION

After the first two episodes last week, I knew Violet Evergarden would be one of those soul touching stories for me. The kind that takes you along and asks you to look at life a little differently than before. But what I didn't expect was how many other hearts we'd be invited to look deeper into along the way..

Episode 3 was probably my favorite so far. Watching Violet at the Auto Memory Doll school felt like watching someone stand at the edge of a world they've never really looked at fully before. For the first time, it felt like she was bridging that gap between understanding words and understanding the feelings that are hidden inside of them.Violet can follow orders perfectly. She can write down exactly what someone says. But emotions never come with instructions. They're messy and tangled up and contradictory. They often live in the spaces between the words we speak. So much love and grief and hope and regret is left unsaid.Seeing Violet understand that and begin to realize those spaces between was beautiful. It felt like a tiny but meaningful step forward. And then in came Iris' story and my perspective was shifted all over again. Her story was so real and familiar. The weight of expectations, the sting of embarrassment, the ache of feelings that never really found their way to where they're meant to go. Sometimes the things we dream about simply aren't meant to be.Seeing Violet witness that kind of pain was everything. Up until now, she's been learning that love exists through devotion, loyalty, longing. But Iris' story showed another side of it. The quieter and darker and lonelier side. It felt so human. And then the special with the opera singer came and absolutely swept me away. I'm so glad I'm only watching 2 or 3 episodes of this a week because WOW. This one is too heavy to binge. What I'm loving most is that every person Violet meet seems to teach her a different piece of what it really means to love someone. Sometimes it's devotion. Sometimes it's regret. Sometimes it's admiration. Sometimes it's loss. Every letter, every conversation, every story that Violet moves through feels like another key to unlock what true love is.And all of this is wrapped in the most gorgeous animation and music I've ever seen/heard!Every emotional moment is given soo much room to breathe. Almost too much 😭There's this softness to this series that makes the heartbreak hit even harder.See you all next week for two more!Thank you for your support on Patreon!Relax and enjoy 🍿🌿Want to watch in dub?Sync Along Video Link: https://youtu.be/OgvWFCYyNkAI watched this on Netflix in original Japanese with subtitles
