i think before i jump into the fun sneek peeks for the upcoming ✨debut✨(next post btw!) it's probably a good idea to rewind the story back a little bit for those who are curious about the timeline!
may 31st 2021 i debuted as rye project, it was my first ever official stream! i was scared shitless, i was so nervous :,3 sadly i'm pretty bad about saving VODs so i did lose a lot of early on streams..
but, before i became rye project i was actually creating content on youtube for about a year. i posted a lot of shitpost/memey videos that i made for myself and friends. but i noticed the more frequent i posted on youtube, that i would actually have about 200 views on some videos, and that got me motivated for more "serious" content creation. and then around that time, a certain hololive vtuber debuted. then i was really locked in for becoming a vtuber and streaming.
so the transition between shitpost YT creator → green tactical vtuber was pretty interesting. before i became "rye", i was into this game called Tarkov at the time, and i thought to myself,
"i wonder if there's any vtubers out there that play tarkov?" and thanks to google, i found a discord server that was themed around anime+tarkov. but i also found a really cute art piece that inspired me to become a vtuber themed around military. someone had drawn an OC based off of tarkov, called the "tarkov loli", which was posted on twitter, the art was by @hamsterCrumbs!
so i joined the discord server in hopes to find more cute anime fusions with the tarkov community. but what i actually found out was, there's a vtuber in that server who's tarkov themed! it was like a huge fun rabbit hole that i came across, so i started watching streams. i also started to interact in the server. i ended up dropping some of my own art into the art channel. i created an OC with green hair and green eyes, she was based off of a scav in tarkov!
a certain somebody was really interested in that piece! @JiziIzum, who was the model artist of two other tactical vtubers at the time. i was shitting my pants, as i was offered to have a model drawn by jizi and to join his vtuber project OMG
together we worked together to strengthen the cute green hair'd OC i had designed. and thus rye the breb was baked. (rigger ended up being @hamsterCrumbs ! smol world :3 )
so after 3 months of being a pre-debut vtuber and frantically trying to build up a fanbase before debut, i was live for the very first official time debuting my character with 200 watching! (before this, my streams had 1 person watching and i was too shy to talk at the time playing GTA with friends. LOL)
well, fast forward like 3 years~ a lot of stuff has happened in-between that timeline. there's been a lot of growth i went through as a content creator. the older i got the more i realized i also changed a lot, which is why a rebrand is really important for me, as i want to re-direct and pioneer my new brand that i want to push. there's so much content that i want to make for the future and i'm so freaking EXCITED :D so thank you for being here! it's just the beginning :3
