Delta 2.0b2 — Feature-Complete Sega Genesis + Enhanced Controller Support

'tis the season, Patrons!

As you know, we’ve been hard at work redesigning Delta 2.0 for Liquid Glass and we’re very excited by the progress we’ve been making. We’re currently finishing up redesigned versions of Delta’s settings and the pause menu, but as we mentioned in our recent RetroAchievements update post, redesigning Delta for Liquid Glass is unfortunately taking longer than expected. We still need more time to polish up these latest redesigns, so to ensure Delta 2.0 is up to our standards we’re now aiming to release Delta 2.0 early next year.

However! Rather than delaying the next Delta 2.0 beta until next year as well, we decided to extract all the non-Liquid Glass changes and release them as their own beta as a small stocking-stuffer in the meantime – which brings us to today’s release of Delta 2.0 beta 2!

First, we’ve officially wrapped up work on Sega Genesis 🎁 Now, every console in Delta is full-featured and equally powerful. You can play all your favorite Genesis games in any orientation thanks to our new default landscape skin, or level the playing field with our now-complete GameGenie and Action Replay cheat support! We’re also happy to share that we now have full RetroAchievements support for Genesis games, meaning that we have RetroAchievement support for every console in Delta 🏆

And to tie a bow on top, we’ve enhanced Delta’s controller and keyboard support 🎮 Now you can navigate your entire game library and use the pause menu with just a controller — no more reaching for the touch screen for common things like switching games or toggling fast forward. With new controllers like MCON coming out very soon that we’re sure lots of people will be asking for this holiday season, we wanted to make the best experience possible for those who prefer physical controls!

While the full Delta 2.0 won’t be ready by the end of the year, this beta marks a big step closer to our final release, so play around and tell us what you think! We can’t wait to share the final update for Delta 2.0 with everyone early next year, and in the meantime we hope you enjoy catching up on your backlog of games during the holidays ☃️
