This map was very loosely inspired by a lovely little station I visited in the mountains of Aomori. Of course, it had a bit more industrial buildup around it, but an enterprising GM may want to use this for a more rural location, & industrialism doesn’t play with every campaign!
Thoughts
The stationmaster’s in on it. How do you sneak onto a train without flagging your ticket?
Nobody has ever heard of a train before. This thing just appeared off the shore & nobody’s tried swimming out to see what the fuss is about yet.

Rural Train Station: A little train station surrounded by autumn woods — perhaps overgrown for its size, and operated by a handful of locals.
Spring: A good time to be traveling!
Summer: The station cast in deep summer.
Winter: No snow shall stop the lines.
Haunted: A deep fog’s come over the land. Truth be told, there wasn’t a station here last week.
Nightmare: Someone’s blackout dream has come to life. You might not want the distant blaring fog-horn to finally roll up & dispense its cargo.
Sea Railway: A lonely station in the middle of a vast body of water. Try not to get spirited away.
