i had a lot of deep thoughts about this image and the making of it when i was going to bed and now that i'm awake most of them have evaporated
a lot of balloon / inflation art is something i find pretty utilitarian, as someone with issues digesting visual data. the details are a given and quick to glance over, because it's The Theme Of The Art, you know what you're there for, and a lot gets lost in translation -- like the intent, or the emotion. i wanted to communicate something simple and delicate moments after it was very loud and shocking.
this started as a suit-paint for Reigen and it turned into a partial suit inflation and from there into balloon-bondage-aligned things and from there into popping stuff. i wanted to aim for something borderline 'sacred' looking and according to my wife, who i did not tell about that intent, told me i nailed it. which was cool. whoa.
this is easily one of the favorite things i've finished lately -- and it was done from start to finish on Saturday's stream!

The balloon is mid-break and starting to fall from its string. In Reigen's other hand are two more tightly inflated balloons; one is yellow with an "O" and one is black with an "X". Reigen is blindfolded and wearing a rubber outfit with a heavily inflated front section, pushed to the point of transparency.
