Chapter 29 – Destinations and Training
In the huge mountain range that practically cut off the northernmost regions of the central continent from the rest of the landmass, a single figure could be seen climbing the mountain.
“Hup!” Krillin breathed out, his breath coming out as frosted mist as he climbed up the barren rock covered in snow. “Almost…there.” He said, spotting the top of the mountain. Another minute of climbing and Krillin stood atop the high mountain, wind and snow blowing around him as he gazed down at North City in the distance. “Without the help of the old monk, this would’ve been impossible.” Krillin said to himself as he patted down the thick coat and pants that he was wearing, a gift from the monks of the old man’s temple. “Guess I should get down this mountain and to the city. The monks said that North City has plenty of natural hot springs.” And getting warm sounded like a FANTASTIC idea right now.
With a smile on his face, Krillin hopped down the other side of the mountain and landed on a ledge. With another jump he soared through the air and kicked up a cloud of snow as he landed on a wide, flat area. While Krillin could’ve easily taken the main roads that had been made to get to North City, he didn’t want to repeat his trip to East City where he’d traveled along the highway. Plus, climbing icy mountains was good training.
“I’ll run the main road through the mountain when I head out!” Krillin decided as he kicked off a rocky wall and then slid down an ice covered hill of rock and snow at speed, almost like a snowboarder, but without the board.
-Eastern Steppe Region-
“Yah!” Goku lashed out with a kick, slamming his foot into the head of a large wild ram. The falling rain scattered from the force of his kick in a perfect arc.
“Meeeaaauuu!” The ram bleated out in a brief instant of pain before it died as its body flew through the air and crashed down onto the wet grassy ground.
Goku landed and shook out his hair, water flying from it as the rain falling began to get heavier. “Great! I got lunch!” He smiled as he moved over to the fallen ram and hefted it over his shoulders before taking off towards the foot of the rocky hills and mountains that he’d chased the ram from and onto the wide open plain. “Once I get back to the Capsule house, I’ll clean and butcher you good!” He was already drooling slightly as he imagined all of the meat he would have for lunch. “Maybe I’ll use the hide too?” His orange gi was starting to get worn from his constant traveling around and he could make a simple cloak from the hide of the ram. “It has been raining a lot around here.”
The Eastern Steppe region that Goku had entered was a flat grassland bordered by mountains on one side that blocked the natural air currents. Rain naturally fell here in greater amounts as most of the clouds stopped at the mountains, creating a perfect environment for the wide grasslands to grow with streams and small rivers twisting and winding through the expansive lands.
“Here we go!” Goku smiled as he saw the Capsule house he was using on his martial arts journey. Leaving the slain ram on the ground next to the door, Goku headed inside and grabbed his knives to clean his kill. “This is going to be great! After lunch I’ll get back to tail training too!”
What Goku didn’t realize was that aside from his gi getting worn over his travels, it was slowly getting too small. As he got closer to his seventeenth birthday, he was approaching his final growth spurt as a Saiyan. While Bulma and Launch had already finished most of their growth as humans when they’d become Saiyans and so wouldn’t experience much in the way of vertical growth from their own final growth spurts, both Caulifla and Kale would shoot up in height a bit by the next time he saw them.
-Mugi Region-
A small farming town in the rolling hills and small rivers of the lush lands just south of Central City currently had its normal peace broken.
“Take it all!” A woman declared with a wide grin, her clothing a mix of rugged and high-quality cloth. In her hand was an automatic rifle that she was holding a group of villagers at gunpoint with.
“Got it!” Several men and a few other women called out, all of them dressed in slightly ragged clothing as they loaded up truck after truck with sacks of wheat, barley, and soybeans.
A tall man with a scar on the right side of his face and a sawed off shotgun in his right hand smirked as he watched his group rob the village. “We thank you all for not putting up a fight! Your harvest and your livestock will feed the Warui Bandit Gang for a long time!”
“H-Hey! Boss! Something is coming from the south!” One of the bandits on watch called out from the edge of the village.
“The cops?” The bandit leader questioned.
The woman near the man grimaced. “No way! How could they have caught onto us already?!” She glared at one of the older men, the village headman, and leveled her weapon at him. “Was it you, old man?! You called the cops when we told you all to sit down and shut up! Didn’t you?!”
The old man shook his head rapidly. “N-No! We’ve done nothing!” He dared not risk any of his friends and family within the village over the theft of their harvest.
“What the heck is that?!” The bandit on watch cried out as the dust cloud zoomed down the dirt road.
Bulma blinked as she ran down the dirt road toward a village that she’d spotted a little while ago. She’d followed her map, heading for Central City, and decided to stop at the village for lunch. “Is something going on?” She skidded to a stop and kicked up a cloud of dust right next to a man in ragged clothing and holding a pistol. “Yo!” She waved once, assuming the man was a villager.
“Wh-Who are you?!” The man stepped back in shock at the sudden appearance of Bulma.
“My name’s Bulma.” Bulma introduced herself simply.
Several people, mostly men but a few women as well, all wearing ragged clothing and wielding weapons, approached the two. The tall man with the sawed off shotgun stepped forward, his eyes roamed up and down Bulma’s form and a smirk crossed his face.
“Well… You certainly don’t look like a cop.” The bandit leader said.
“She’s really sexy, right boss?” A shorter man said with a lecherous leer, his narrow eyes looking Bulma up and down.
The bandit leader chuckled at that. “She sure is.”
“Oi!” The woman with the automatic rifle said loudly. “Don’t be looking at other women!” She shot a sharp look at the leader, not liking that he was looking at a younger woman. “You’re what? Like eighteen?”
Bulma, now understanding the basic situation, looked at the slightly older woman. “Yeah, I am.” She flicked her blue bangs aside once, seeing all of the bandit men eyeing her up while the women either glared at her or rolled their eyes at the men. “But you don’t have to worry about me taking your men, I’ve got a boyfriend.”
The bandit men all laughed.
“Oh, you won’t be doing the taking…sweetheart.” The bandit leader promised with a smirk.
“Hey!” The bandit woman elbowed her man with a sneer on her face. “You think I’m gonna let you cheat on me right in front of my face?”
The man didn’t get to respond, because in a blur his face was replaced by Bulma’s foot.
The bandit woman staggered backwards a step as a slight breeze hit her face. “What the fuck?!”
Bulma lowered her foot back to the ground, the bandit leader unconscious almost six meters down the dirt road, his nose broken and bloody. “Like I said, I have a boyfriend.” Her fist crashed into the bandit woman’s face and laid her out too.
“H-Hey!” The shorter bandit man cried out in shock as he aimed his pistol at Bulma’s back. “Shoot her!”
The rest of the bandits raised their guns, but Bulma wasn’t there anymore.
“What?!” The short man blinked, only to feel something hitting him in the back of the head. He was unconscious as he flew through the air and then crashed into the dirt.
Bulma wasted no time as she blurred around the rest of the bandits, leaving After Images behind to confuse them. Gunfire erupted as the bandits panicked, but Bulma easily stayed behind the bandits to avoid the gunfire as her fists and feet hit one after another.
“Guh!” A man was folded over Bulma’s leg and ended up slamming down onto his back before going limp on the ground.
“Aaah!” A female bandit shrieked as Bulma slapped her pistol out of her hands and then slapped her across the face with the same hand, making her spin a full three-hundred-sixty degrees in the air before she hit the ground.
One bandit tried to run, only for Bulma to easily overtake him and hit the man with a lariat, taking his feet off the ground and making him flip backward before crashing into the dirt road with an audible thump and not moving.
“Yah!” Bulma kicked a rifle out of another bandit’s hands with a high kick and then brought her foot down in an axe kick that broke the collarbone of the bandit. “Tah!” A skipping sidekick slammed her foot into the gut of a larger bandit man, making him hack out spit and air as he went flying backwards.
Bang
“Got you, little bitch!” The last female bandit cried out in relief and victory as she’d shot Bulma from behind. “H-Huh?” Her eyes widened and her jaw dropped in shock.
Bulma had her fist raised and she was looking directly at the bandit woman. Slowly, she uncurled her fingers and the bullet fell from her hand and to the ground. “That wasn’t nice.” She said simply before blurring forward and punching the woman bandit across the face with a right hook, sending her to the ground and kicking up a small cloud of dust. “Was that the last one?” She looked around and didn’t see any other bandits standing. “Now… What to do with all of you?”
“THAT WAS AMAZING!!!” A young boy cried out in excitement, having been spying on the bandits—very much against the wishes of his mother and father back in the center of the village—when they’d all rushed towards the south of the village.
“Oh, hello.” Bulma smiled at the younger boy. “Do you live in this village?”
The young boy jogged over with a nod. “Uh huh! These bandits were trying to steal our harvest and livestock!” He told Bulma with a big smile. “But then they saw you coming and you beat them all up like a superhero! It was awesome!”
Bulma giggled at the young boy and patted his head. “Could you get the rest of the villagers for me? We need to tie these guys up and call the police.”
“Sure thing!” The boy nodded rapidly. “I’ll be right back!” He took off with a loud cheer. “THE BANDITS GOT BEATEN UP!!!”
“Guess I’ll just watch over you idiots.” Bulma shrugged as she looked at all of the bandits that she’d beaten up.
The villagers quickly came over, following after the young boy. The men searched the bandits for hidden weapons and tied them up with rope. The women collected all of the weapons and took them far away from the bandits, planning to hand them over to the police.
“Young lady, how could we ever thank you for saving our village?” The old village headman asked Bulma with a bright smile.
Bulma’s stomach growled audibly, making several of the villagers chuckle. “I wouldn’t say no to some food.” She said with a small smile.
The village head man turned to everyone and raised his arms high. “A feast for our valiant hero!”
“YEAH!!!” The rest of the village cheered in agreement.
The tied up bandits would be left locked up in the stone storeroom that they’d just emptied out in their attempt to rob the village until the police arrived.
-Sacred Land of Korin-
Caulifla jogged through the forest, her eyes never leaving the stone tower rising high into the sky and out of sight. She’d spotted it before even entering the forest and was simply following it to reach the bottom. “Man… It’s so huge that it takes forever to run to it even after you see it!” She finally made it to the clearing surrounding the base of Korin Tower and looked up at it, craning her neck all the way back. “Goku and Bulma weren’t kidding. You really can’t see the top at all.”
“Did you say Goku and Bulma?” A small voice asked and Caulifla looked down to see a small boy wearing buckskin clothing and a headband with a feather in it. “You know Goku and Bulma?”
“Yeah, I know them!” Caulifla smirked at the young boy. “They’re my boyfriend and girlfriend, after all!”
Upa blinked at that, a bit too young to be concerned with such things. “Really? I’m Upa.” He introduced himself to Caulifla with a smile.
Caulifla crouched down and held out her hand to Upa with a grin. “Caulifla, nice to meet you.” The two shook hands and Upa pointed to the large teepee near the base of the tower.
“Please, meet my father!” Upa requested with a small as he practically led Caulifla along. “Father! A friend of Bulma and Goku has come to visit!”
Bora stepped out of the teepee and stood to his full height, towering over Caulifla and Upa. “Goku and Bulma are friends of the Karinga Tribe, so their friends are always welcome here.” He said to Caulifla with a smile as he held out his hand and let her shake it firmly.
“I came to climb the tower like Bulma and Goku did.” Caulifla said as she pointed towards Korin Tower with her thumb.
“I see.” Bora looked up towards the sky where Korin Tower vanished above the clouds. “Both Goku and Bulma completed the training of the divine being and gained strength.” He looked back at Caulifla with a small grin. “It seems that their friends are also great warriors that seek equally great challenges.”
Caulifla grinned up at Bora. “Heck yeah we are!” The sound of someone moving through the forest swiftly caught Caulifla’s ears and she grinned while turning around. “Looks like I got here first, Kale!”
Kale stopped at the edge of the clearing and smiled brightly at Caulifla. “Sis!” She was nearly a blur as she crossed the distance and nearly tackled Caulifla in a hug. “I missed you!”
“I missed you too, Kale!” Caulifla laughed as she hugged Kale back, their tails wrapping around each other gently. Sure, it had only been a few weeks since they’d left the Training Island, but the two hadn’t really ever been apart for so long before. “You ready to climb this tower?” Caulifla grinned at Kale with challenge in her eyes.
“Yes!” Kale nodded, returning Caulifla’s challengingly look with her own—even if it was a bit softer.
Thump
Everyone looked over at the sound, spotting a small rock on the grass with a paper tied to it.
“What could that be?” Bora asked, never having seen such a thing happen before.
Kale and Caulifla looked at each other before Caulifla trotted over to the stone with the paper tied to it.
“Let’s see.” Caulifla picked up the rock and untied the thin string holding the paper to it. Unfolding the paper, she read the note aloud. “Only one challenger at a time?” She turned and showed the other three the note.
“A message from the divine being?” Upa blinked at the paper seeing the simple and yet flowing writing.
Bora read over the paper once again. “I have never heard of the divine being sending a message down to the earth before.”
Kale looked at Caulifla after a moment. “Does that mean only one of us can climb the tower at a time?”
“I guess so?” Caulifla shrugged before smirking at Kale. “Since I got here first…”
“Fine…” Kale pouted cutely, making Caulifla crack up laughing and pull her into a hug. Kale returned the hug with a smile, squeezing Caulifla close.
Caulifla pulled away after a moment and glanced up at the tower again. “Well, I guess I should get started, that way you can start your turn sooner too!” She said to Kale before looking at Bora and Upa. “Could Kale stay with you guys until I get back?”
Bora chuckled lightly. “Of course. Any friend of Bulma and Goku’s is welcome here as long as they like.”
“Thank you very much.” Kale gave Upa and Bora a small bow of thanks. “I’ll be waiting for you, Caulifla.” She smiled at her ‘sis’ before giving her another quick hug.
“No worries, Kale! I’ll be back faster than Goku was!” Caulifla said with confidence. Looking up at Korin Tower again, she gauged the distance and bent her legs. A strong leap shot her high into the air as a blur to Bora and Upa’s eyes and she was merely a small dot when she actually grabbed the stone tower and began to climb swiftly, vanishing from sight in only a moment.
Upa looked at Kale once Caulifla had disappeared from view. “Would you like to go hunting with us?” He asked with a smile. “I’d love to hear more about how you and Miss Caulifla know Bulma and Goku! She said that she was their…girlfriend?” He tested the term, not having heard it much among his tribesmen.
Kale blushed just a little and nodded after a moment. “Sure…” In her mind she squealed adorably at having to tell a friend of Goku’s about their relationship.
-Korin Tower-
“Okay…” Caulifla breathed out, taking a few breaths to refill her lungs. “…the air does get thin…pretty quick.” She slowed her pace slightly, focusing on the small protrusions on the tower as hand holds and footholds. “But I’ll definitely get there in less than a day!” She set herself a goal to beat Goku and Bulma’s time to reach the top of the tower.
At the top of the tower, Korin watched over the side, seeing his next challenger/student making their way upwards. He chuckled slightly, never having had so many challengers in such a short time before. “It certainly has been busy since Goku first climbed my tower.” He said before sipping some tea from the cup in his free hand. “This one certainly seems spirited. Hohoho.”
-Training Island-
Sweat slowly rolled up Launch’s face as she steadied her breathing as best she could while holding herself up with one hand in a handstand with her newest weighted turtle shell on her back. “One-hundred-ninety-six…” She fully extended her arm to lift her body vertically. “Fucking shell…” She cursed the newly increased weight on her back as she held herself up, maintaining her balance before lowering herself again, her face nearly touching the grass. “One-hundred-ninety-seven…” She extended her arm again, lifting herself back up once more.
Roshi watched on from the porch of Kame House as Launch added to her training. He hadn’t expected it, but the wild girl seemed determined to do her best to catch up to her fellow disciples. ‘Not that it’s a bad thing, I suppose.’ Roshi thought to himself as he enjoyed the lovely day.
“Still working hard, sis?” Lunch asked as she walked towards Kame House from the nearest town, a grocery bag in each hand and one over each shoulder.
Launch looked at her sister with a grunt. “Y-Yeah…” She managed to get out as she bent her arm and lowered herself again. “Wh-What’s for dinner?” She got out before pushing herself back up. “One-hundred-ninety-eight…”
Lunch smiled at her sister as she hefted the grocery bags. “I got a lot of beef on sale today! So I’m thinking we have a nice yakiniku barbecue tonight!”
“That sounds good…” Launch had to swallow her drool before it escaped her lips and dripped up her face. “Can’t wait, sis. One-hundred-ninety-nine…” She pushed herself back up again.
“Yakiniku, eh?” Roshi smiled at Lunch brightly. “I’ll get the grill out!” He headed inside with a chuckle to grab the grill and the charcoal.
Lunch giggled at Roshi’s eagerness. “I bought some beer for you as well, Roshi!” She patted one of the grocery bags lightly as she entered Kame House.
Launch slowly lowered herself down, maintaining her balance as her face nearly touched the grass again. “I want…some beer too…” She said lowly before pushing herself back up. “Two-hundred!” That was one set complete.
-Korin Tower ~ Early Morning Hours-
Caulifla huffed and felt her muscles burning and screaming at her as she climbed into the bottom of the round top of Korin Tower. “Finally…made it…” She panted out as she dropped onto her back on the stone floor. “Beat…Goku’s time…”
“Hohoho… Indeed, you did.” Korin chuckled as he stood beside Caulifla, clearly amused by how hard the Saiyan girl had pushed herself to beat Goku’s time. “Though now you’re suffering for it.”
“Y-Yeah…maybe.” Caulifla didn’t fully admit it, even as she looked over at the talking white cat. “Would you…happen to have…one of those…beans?”
Korin might’ve rolled his eyes, but it was hard to tell. “You know those are sacred Senzu, yes?”
Caulifla looked up at Korin blankly.
“Hah…” Korin sighed and held out a single green bean with his free hand and then tilted it so that it fell into Caulifla’s mouth.
“Mmn…mm…” Caulifla crunched on the bean and chewed for a moment before swallowing it down. “Whoa!” She leapt to her feet a few seconds later and looked herself over in amazement. “I was so sore and hungry…but now I’m fine and full?! That’s crazy!”
Korin nodded at Caulifla’s amazement with a small grin. “Hohoho, yes, yes…they ARE the sacred Senzu.” He turned and walked towards the stairs. “Come along now, Caulifla.”
Caulifla walked after Korin with her hands behind her head, fully relaxed. “Did Goku tell you about me?”
“I read his mind.” Korin replied, as if mindreading was a completely normal thing. “He’s VERY smitten with you four girls, you know?”
“He better be…” Caulifla mumbled and actually blushed at someone that could literally read minds telling her how much Goku cared about her. She followed Korin up the stairs that were on the outside of his home, briefly glancing over the edge, only seeing clouds below.
Korin made his way over to the pedestal standing in the center of the large open training space. With a gentle movement of his staff, he easily snagged the small handle of the flask and swished it around. “I’m sure you know the nature of my training, yes?”
Caulifla smirked and punched her right fist into her left palm. “Yep! Let’s go!”
“If you’re sure.” Korin began to sway the staff around, teasing the bottle like a cat toy between him and Caulifla. “Ready? It’s over here! No, over here!”
“It’s mine!” Caulifla blurred and her hands slapped down onto the stone floor. “Huh?” She looked up and saw Korin’s staff held upright again, the flask dangling form the narrow side of the head. “How’d you do that?”
Korin grinned at Caulifla. “Hohoho… I wouldn’t be much of a hermit master if I couldn’t do at least this much.”
Caulifla blurred just slightly and Korin shifted the head of his staff to the side. As Caulifla sailed through the air, having missed grabbing the flask, her After Image faded away. “Darn it! You read my mind, didn’t you?!”
“No, that wasn’t necessary.” Korin shook his head once. “I merely anticipated your movements based on your actions.”
“That won’t work again!” Caulifla declared as she blurred forward, her hand nearly grabbing the bottle…until it suddenly wasn’t there anymore. “Damn it!” She kicked off the floor and shot straight back towards the flask again.
Korin tilted his staff again and stuck out his foot, tripping Caulifla easily. “Watch your step!”
Caulifla stumbled and nearly fell flat on her face. “You little!” She chased after Korin, but every lunge, grab, and leap she made for the bottle was easily dodged or stopped by Korin.
“My, my… Didn’t you say that you’d beat Goku and Bulma’s time?” Korin teased as he practically bounced around the wide open area of his home.
“I will!” Caulifla nearly growled as she made six After Images and came at Korin from his blind spot. Only to pass through Korin’s After Image and hit the floor. “OOF!!!”
Korin was a few meters to the downed Caulifla’s left. “Your six After Images are impressive…but far too wasteful in this thin air.”
Caulifla pushed herself up and got back to her feet. “I’m not done yet!”
“I’d hope you wouldn’t give up so easily after making it up here.” Korin said, clearly amused at Caulifla’s attempts so far.
-North City-
“Ahhh~” Krillin sighed in bliss as he relaxed in a natural hot spring. “This makes trekking through the cold worth it.” He would only be staying in the north capitol for a few days, just enough time to explore, see the sights, and make some money doing odd jobs so that he’d have some travel funds for the next leg of his journey to Central City. “I wonder how Goku and the girls are doing on their martial arts journeys?”
A minute later and some other men entered the hot spring, sinking into the warm waters not too far from Krillin.
“Oh yeah, that’s the stuff.” One of the men sighed heavily as he relaxed.
“Nothing beats a hot soak after a cold day.” His buddy agreed as he rested his arms on the edge of the hot spring.
The two men looked over at Krillin for a second before greeting him.
“You don’t look like you’re from around here, youngster.” The first man said with a smile. “How’re you liking North City?”
“It’s very nice, so far.” Krillin replied with a nod as he leaned back against the edge of the spring.
The other man chuckled. “When did you get to the city?”
Krillin stretched under the water a bit. “Just yesterday. I climbed the mountains as part of my martial arts training.”
Both men nearly choked on their own breath at Krillin’s words.
“Y-You climbed the mountains?!” The second man gaped at Krillin.
“In this weather?!” The first man’s shock was just as great as his friend’s.
Krillin nodded with a small smile. “It was challenging, but I managed it.” He raised his right arm out of the water and flexed it before patting his bicep with his left hand. “I’ve trained hard.”
Both men still looked like they couldn’t believe Krillin’s claim of climbing the mountains that cut North City off from the rest of the continent. But they moved the conversation along anyway.
“W-Well…anyway, what’re you visiting North City for?” The first man asked politely.
“Training and to see the sights. My Master says that the world and life have many things to teach.” Krillin said as he lowered his arms beneath the hot water again. “These hot springs are nice too.”
The second man laughed lightly. “We North City folk do take pride in our hot spring culture.” He looked at Krillin. “You should check out the big ice sculptures in the city center while you’re here. The theme for the latest round of them is mythical creatures, so there’s huge ice dragons, griffins, phoenixes, and all sorts of other storybook creatures.”
“If you’re looking for some work while you’re here, you can check out the west side of the city. There’s a ton of construction and the like going on over there right now.” The first man suggested, knowing that one needed funds to travel.
Krillin considered the men’s suggestions. “Thank you very much, gentlemen. I’ll check them out while I’m in the city.”
-Eastern Steppe Region-
The rain was still coming down lightly as Goku jogged along, his new ram-skin cloak keeping the water off of him. Every step made a little splash form the soggy ground, but Goku didn’t mind it as he kept up his pace, heading towards the west.
“I wonder how long it’s going to rain?” Goku glanced up at the cloudy sky and the rain as it fell. “It’s been like this since yesterday.” Deciding not to worry about what he couldn’t control, Goku kept up his pace and headed towards the horizon which he could only just see through the fog and mist rising off the tall grass of the flatlands.
He had no idea that he was heading for the central desert, the vast wasteland that filled the very center of the continent.
-Sacred Land of Korin-
Kale swam against the powerful current of the river not too far from the base of Korin Tower. Caulifla hadn’t come down from the top of the tower yet, so while she waited, Kale was continuing her own training under the midday sun.
“Kale!” Upa called out from the edge of the river, his hands cupped around his mouth. “Lunch will be ready soon!”
“Okay!” Kale called back, treading water powerfully to prevent being swept away by the current. She swam towards the edge of the river, the water rushing over her not able to push her along, even as she swam against it. Once she got to the shallows, she stood up, water cascading down her naked body. Taking a deep sniff of the air, Kale smiled at the scent of cooking meat. “Are we having venison?”
Upa nodded as he handed Kale a towel. “Yes! Father hunted a large one today!”
Kale accepted the towel, not minding the five-year-old seeing her naked since he was far too young for it to matter. “Sounds great!” She began to dry her semi-long black hair with the towel before wrapping it around her body. Gathering up her clothing, she followed after Upa, the little boy happy to be her guide, and followed him back towards the base of the tower. ‘I wonder how many days it’ll take sis to complete Master Korin’s training?’ She looked up towards the sky, seeing the clouds passing by and completely obscuring the top of the tower.
“Ah! Miss Kale…” Bora saw Kale approaching in nothing but a towel and politely turned his head. He was not used to a woman being so nonchalant about near nudity. “The deer meat will be ready shortly.” He said while motioning his hand towards the various cuts of venison cooking over the fire.
“Smells great!” Kale smiled at Bora, her Saiyan instincts not having a problem walking around in nothing but a towel. “I’ll change quickly so that we can all eat together.” She stepped into the teepee that Bora and Upa had welcomed her into as a guest and closed the flap behind her.
Upa smiled at the cooking venison before looking up at his father. “Miss Kale is pretty, isn’t she, father?”
Bora chuckled and patted his son’s head. “Yes, she’s a very lovely young lady. Goku is a very lucky young man.”
Kale heard Bora and Upa’s words and blushed just a little. It was nice to hear that other’s found her pretty, especially when it was entirely platonic. ‘They’re nice people.’ She thought to herself as she dropped the towel and ran her hands over her body once to make sure that she was dry. “I wonder where the other’s are right now?” She hummed to herself as she got dressed quickly, her tummy rumbling as the smell of cooking venison was rousing her appetite.

Caulifla and Kale reached Korin’s Tower! Caulifla got there first—by a few minutes—so she gets to learn from Korin first too!
Kale stays with Upa and Bora while she waits for Caulifla to come back down from the tower, using the nature around her to continue her training.
Krillin successfully climbed the mountains that surround North City! That was a good amount of training, both the physical effort required and the frigid environment. He takes a nice soak in a natural hot spring and chats with some of the locals about what to see and do in the northern capitol.
Goku travels through the Eastern Steppe Region, hunting and living off the land as he travels. He’s made himself a primitive cloak out of ram-skin to keep off the frequent rain as he travels. He notices his gi starting to get worn form the constant travels, but doesn’t quite realize that his body is about to go through its final growth spurt.
We know what that means for Goku, but what will it mean for Caulifla and Kale when they all meet up again?
Bulma was heading for Central City, but stopped by a farming village first, only to thwart a bandit raid in-progress! Even armed with guns, the bandits posed no threat to Bulma. In exchange for her selfless actions that saved their village, Bulma is invited to a celebratory banquet! The perfect reward for a Saiyan! Kek!
Launch continues her training, now with an even HEAVIER turtle shell on her back! She’s determined to get stronger and catch up to her fellow disciples! Her Saiyan instincts practically demand that she get stronger and her conscious man is in full agreement!
As the three-years until the next Tenka’ichi Budokai draw towards a close, how will the Turtle School Disciples spend their last year?
Keep reading to find out!
