DESCRIPTION

Sup Goodies! We’re reaching a point where our production is becoming much more consistent and organized.

What does that mean?

For the first time, we have well-defined tasks and daily progress across the team. This is a huge milestone for us and brings us much closer to our goal of delivering more frequent updates.

We’re still facing some challenges when it comes to creating brand-new missions and getting them into the game every single week. Contrary to what many people think, once the renders and artwork are finished, there’s still a massive amount of work left to do. Everything needs to be implemented into the game, programmed, scripted, tested, and finally receive its audio.

Our biggest mistake in the previous update was considering content "finished" as soon as the renders were done. We’ve learned from that, and now we’re improving our workflow so that our process becomes "create and implement", instead of creating a large backlog waiting to be integrated.

🏚️ Abandoned Motel Room

The abandoned motel room is finally complete!

It now has lighting variations for different times of the day and has been fully created, optimized, and prepared for production.

It’s now ready to be used in several upcoming missions.

So... what do you think? Will you enjoy discovering Helena’s secret little hideout?

❤️ Helena's New Missions

We continued developing Helena's storyline and are currently working on several new missions for her.

We also made great progress on new animations featuring Helena.

💻 Programming Updates

🤝 Nancy Friendship Route

The Nancy Friendship Route was the biggest programming focus this week.

We added several new friendship acts, including their complete progression flow and navigation. Cinematics were created for Act 40, dedicated audio was added throughout the route, and several improvements and fixes were implemented.

One example is that Act 20 now requires the player to buy groceries from the market before progressing, making the gameplay feel much more connected to the story.

We also fixed scene background preservation during Act 60, improving continuity throughout the route.

🎒 Inventory System

The first version of the inventory system has now been integrated into the main development branch.

We also added item descriptions that appear when hovering over items, making the inventory much more informative and user-friendly.

❤️ Helena Content

Development on Helena's content continued this week.

A new Visual Novel mission for Main Route Act 80 has been implemented, an early draft for Act 110 has been documented, and Helena received updated sprite pose and mood variations to support future scenes.

🛒 Economy & World

The game's economy also received important updates.

A placeholder grocery store has been created for Nancy's friendship missions, and the Atlas economy has been adjusted so that it now directly uses the player's inventory money as its balance source.

This lays the groundwork for much more interactive shopping and item-based mechanics in future updates.

🔊 Audio

We continued expanding the game's audio library.

Besides adding dedicated sounds for Nancy's friendship route, we also implemented dialogue selection sound effects to improve player feedback during conversations.

🛠️ Development Tools

Behind the scenes, we improved several internal development tools.

New Atlas development utilities were added, and Ren'Py shadow paths were configured to provide better IntelliSense support inside the editor, making development faster and more reliable.

🎮 Falling Catch Minigame

The first version of Falling Catch has officially been implemented!

At this stage, our goal was to build the foundation of the minigame. The core gameplay is already working, including player movement, object catching, the scoring system, and both victory and defeat conditions.

Right now, the focus is validating the gameplay to make sure everything behaves correctly before we move on to polishing and balancing.

✅ Already implemented

Core object-catching gameplay.

Player controls.

Basic game rules.

Initial scoring system.

Victory and defeat conditions.

This is only the first step, but it already provides a solid foundation for the minigame to continue evolving toward its final version.

❤️ Thank You!

That’s all for this week!

Week after week, our production pipeline is becoming more organized, our internal tools are getting stronger, and we’re able to work on multiple areas of the game simultaneously. While there’s still plenty of work ahead, we’re much closer to the development pace we've been aiming for.

Thank you so much for your continued support, your feedback, and your patience. Every comment, suggestion, and bit of encouragement helps us make Good Luke a better game.

See you next week!
