Centaur Manager did, in fact, have a life before the Hotel; despite your unwavering impression he must’ve materialized out of sheer bureaucratic need once the building was completed. He’d been part of a warrior tribe of centaurs, and every fall season they would celebrate a fruitful harvest. He described each event to you in great detail, so vividly, in fact, that you couldn’t help but remark: you remember it like it was yesterday. Well, of course, he’s the one who planned everything after all! Now he satisfies his ardent need to be a festive architect by researching your own human customs and reenacting them for you. You sometimes ask him if he misses his own holidays, but he shrugs it off with a smile – he prefers it less bloody.
Toby knows that the monstrous realm is not quite what you’re used to, so he’ll do his best to make you feel at home through his gardening. You almost can’t tell this used to be his prized rose garden: the paths are lined with tall maple trees, and there are old oaks building a gradient of red in the background. You walk among the pumpkin patches in complete awe, then reach the many stalls of food and produce; your nose immediately picks up the scent of roasted chestnuts. There’s no proper fall without some foliage, the colossal alien signs to you. In truth – and something he wouldn’t readily admit to you – he may have cheated in order to achieve this autumnal paradise. He never enters your mind with your permission, but on this particular occasion, he just needed the smallest glimpse of your favourite memories, the coziest sights that made you long for September to come.
Orc Chef is the one tasked to provide the culinary delights. You quickly guess that the masterful dishes adorning most of the stalls are his creations. Though his involvement doesn’t end with cooking; the intellectual orc enjoys spending the evening with you, reading gothic novels and stories fit for the gloomy season. There’s nothing like a dark, rainy day accompanied by his sombre story telling. You have to admit: his deep, clear voice is perfect for this purpose. The elegant speech reverberates against your ears, sending shivers of excitement down your spine.
“And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted—nevermore!”
The Vampire Siblings love celebrating fall with you. Truly, there’s no better season out there, nothing that allows them to be as honest to themselves. Cursed Child will insist on carving pumpkin after pumpkin, showing you her terrifying concoctions with a merry giggle. You stare at the intricate sculpture – much too detailed and refined for someone of her age – and realize it’s a face twisted in agony. “It’s part of my series,” she smiles, dusting her dress and reaching for another pumpkin, “tormented souls.” Vampire Noble will take you on walks along the graveyard, admiring the scenery in utter silence and occasionally encouraging you to feed the crows. At first, you were impressed by his talent to choose days that are exceptionally bleak, until you noticed the thick, cold fog seems to follow him everywhere and regardless of weather.
Butterfly Hybrid will try to get you into various costumes for his monster viewers. He initially refused to engage in such ridiculous activities, telling you he’s too busy or that he’d rather invest his energy in something that isn’t a bizarre human custom. Then, he mentioned it in passing during one of his livestreams. He was about to laugh it off, when he noticed the comments pouring in: wait, humans have an event where they dress like monsters? How would (Y/N) look with horns? What if they had hooves? The suggestions kept going, until the hybrid begrudgingly relented. Fine, he’d get you dressed up. As much as he’d like to maintain his annoyed glare, seeing your enthusiasm and cheerful posing does earn a slight blush out of him.
The Demon King was originally sceptical to celebrate this so-called ‘fall season’ with you – what’s a mere season compared to his eternal existence, and why should it deserve any kind of acknowledgement? Alas, if it’s for the sake of his beloved human, he shall indulge you. You probed with various activities, hoping to find something to his liking, until you discovered – unsurprisingly – that he’s rather fond of horror movies. You could feel his chest vibrate with laughter as he held you tightly against his body and clapped in amusement. “Yes, yes, a rather creative idea to torment the humans,” his scaly butler agreed, standing elegantly behind the two of you in case you needed anything provided. You begin to wonder if it was indeed a wise decision, introducing him to new ways of reaping chaos. “Write it down,” the Dark Lord demands to his loyal servant, “I’m feeling inspired.”
