Frontier+ Monster: Varusaburosu| Two Page Monster Hunt: Shadows in the Dunes

Hello Everyone!

This month’s winner is varusaburosu from Monster Hunter Frontier! This CR 20 monster is a a cousin to the diablos and I really struggled to figure out what its CR should be. Based on what it was, it should be a higher CR than the diablos, but I also want these frontier monsters to be accessible to lower level games. In this case, I still decide to keep it as a CR 20 which a low teen party could fight. The creature itself has an interesting mechanic involving a cactus fruit, and I think I did a decent job giving a mechanic in the fight for it to spawn, for the PCs to want to steal it, and the regret they might have for letting it eat the fruit.

Two Page Monster Hunt: Shadows in the Dunes

I have been enjoying the trend of the mid tier monster hunters the last few months and this month continues that trend. In this month's hunt we keeping up with the idea of using a lot of these new monsters in the MHMM, I went with a subspecies instead of a new Wilds monster. In this hunt a group of 8th-level hunters head out to the Dunes to hunt down a shroud nerscylla causing issues with a trade route.
