Frontier+ Monsters: Apypos & Great apypos | Two Page Monster Hunt: Toxic Excavation
Hello Everyone!
This month’s winner is the Great Apypos from Monster Hunter Explorer! This CR 3 theropod simliar to the other Greats, but with an Egyptian theme. It also introduces a new condition to the 5e system called Muddy. Its a status effect similar to Frozen, but doesn't cause exhaustion and its effects are shown immediately below the great apypos's stat block. In an unplanned additional also created the apypos due to how small of a monster stat block the great was. It is similar to the other minion-like theropods and including it just made sense for the great's alpha call (which as become a Bonus Action). This change will happen to all the Alpha Call theropods in a future update, so please feel free to use it like that from now on.
In the .Zip attached, you will find a PDF for the great apypos & apypos with tokens used for online play. Within the PDF you will find its stat block and loot table that is usable with the rule set found within Amellwind's Guide to Monster Hunting located in the description of this Patreon page.
FoundryVTT Module
The manifestation URL for this months monster is also available in the Pinned Foundry post. I am considering doing Patreon messages with these URLs each month instead of doing it this way, but I want to poll the patreon on that before I do. Until then, I will continue to update that post each month with the new months monster manifestation URL, but it will only have the last two URLs available.
Two Page Monster Hunt: Toxic Excavation
The poll this month gave us a CR 6-10 hunt range and looking through the year 7 hunt we do have a large number of hunts going into the double digits. So instead of a single target hunt, we have a hunt in the Oil Basin (using the volcano map), where two rompopolo are acting aggressively. Once they are down, your party will have to take them down at the same time. This allows us to run this hunt with a group of 10th-level hunters, and this is the first official 10th level hunt (we have some level 9 or 10 level hunts but none that specifically aim for 10).
There is a couple of new challenges and a number of monsters not used in other hunts yet. So hopefully your players will enjoy this challenge.
In the .pdf attachment below, you will find the hunt with a link to the Dunes map. As always thank you for the support and I hope you enjoy playing in, or running this hunt; or using the newest monster added to the MHMM.
