No we haven't seen the movie yet. We will!! But something always seemed sort of familiar about the backrooms thing. Could never quite put my finger on it. Then it hit me the other day! Rich Evans and I once filmed a horror movie about a crazed super soldier. One part had him knocked out in a coma (drugged by Rich Evans who played a wacky scientist) and the movie went inside the head of the soldier. Initially all we had was to film him on a black background while voices in his head talked to him, but then we got word that a friend of a friend of Rich Evans worked at this building that used to be a furniture store. They were using it for offices or something. But the majority of the building was empty, furniture-less backrooms. The lights were flipped on and we had a short time to use it. Seemed like a good representation for a crazy man's mind? We had a strange creature speaking to him (rubber skeleton in shadow) as he argued about the morality of chopping up people with an axe. Worked for me! But it was really neat actually. A maze of empty rooms creepily lit with spotlights on nothing in particular. Was a cool location to film in for a VHS movie with a budget of 15 dollars.
