Transcript of Onboarding Interview with the recently relocated vampire, Tai.
Agent: Thank you for meeting with me today, Tai—
Tai: It’s Felix now.
Agent: Ah, I see. You’ve decided to take on a new name while here then?
(Transcript will use applicant’s preferred name for the rest of this interview)
Felix: Yep. New world, new me, right?
Agent: Wow. I have to say you have learnt English at an extraordinary rate. You sound like you’ve lived here all your life, not just—
(Agent checks files)
Agent: A couple of months?!
Felix: It was only learning the words. Weirdly, your sentence structures are pretty much the same as Echolian. That helped.
Agent: The Agency is very grateful for your agreeing to join us. Especially so soon after your relocation from the Echo World.
Felix: Well, it’s not like I have much else to do here. At least it’ll let me see this new place I’ve fallen into.
Agent: You seem very…adaptable. I doubt you will struggle settling in.
Felix: You make it sound like you like adaptable people…?
Agent: Oh, I’m Agent Newlesslan. Gabriella to my friends.
Felix: Does that mean we’re friends, Gabriella?
Agent: That’s—I mean, sure. I would definitely like that. I like new friends.
Felix: So do I. I very much like new friends.
(There is a silent pause here, though reason is unknown. It is broken by Agent Newlesslan clearing her throat)
Agent: Um, we were—ah yes! So, you’ve agreed to become part of the Agency. I see you have noted your preference for a team position?
Felix: I’ve not worked in a group before. I think it’ll be a fun experience to try.
Agent: Are there…many experiences you’re hoping to try here in the human world?
Felix: Are you asking me out?
Agent: That’s, uh, very forward to say.
Felix: You haven’t said I’m wrong though.
Agent: Well, the cafeteria is serving a meal from my hometown, if you’re interested?
