Out of Milk Cloth Simulation

DESCRIPTION

Hello folks!

Here's a look at some of the cloth simulation I've been testing for the next video.

The Blender 5.2 alpha includes a new cloth dynamics system in geometry nodes. I've been testing this with my scenes to see how to incorporate it, as it includes cloth tearing, something that is difficult to do with the legacy cloth physics system.

Here's the first test. This is literally just increasing breast size, and a basic cloth simulation on her tank top with tearing enabled.

As you can see, the cloth tearing looks good, but it looks a little boring and also just a little fake. The lack of movement from the breasts doesn't help.

So this time I tried simulating the breasts first and then simulating the tank top on top of that simulation. This would give us some secondary motion and make things look a little more realistic. I also tried simulating some hip/ass expansion on the pants for good measure.

Better, but still not quite there. What we need is for the breasts to be affected by the cloth simulation, in addition to the cloth simulation being affected by the movement of the breasts. So this time, I simulate a basic movement on the breasts, simulate the cloth dynamics on the top and then simulate the breasts again, but this time bringing the expansion forward a few frames so that there's a little bit of bulging coming through any gaps in the top.

This is looking better. The cloth looks good, the breasts are being affected by the top and in general it looks much more realistic. For good measure, I tried this method again in a different pose:

This is it. The secret sauce is simulating a few times so that everything interacts with each other. And given Blender's new cloth dynamics systems, it's also quick to iterate and refine the simulations.

So now I tried this method on the barista model that I'm using for the upcoming Out of Milk video:

I like how the straps on her shoulder become tight after the initial growth, and how the breast flesh bulges slightly over the sides. I may still tweak and play with the settings to dial in how much they move in the simulation, but otherwise I am very happy with how this is looking.

This is something I intend to use going forward, hopefully for simple stuff like regular clothing simulations outside of expansion scenes, to add a little realism to my content.

Hope you enjoy!SizeKing.
