Last week when I saw various monkey toys at the National Museum of Romanian History, a monkey passion was ignited within me. I decided to draw a new type of monkey every day for a while, and I had so much fun doing it and looking at these different monkeys that I think I should try to do more projects like this regularly. My favourite of these monkeys was the golden snub-nosed monkey. Just a really cute one.
I also went to another museum this week, the National Museum of Art of Romania. This had a lot of interesting medieval art, and I liked looking at all the icons that included that one hand pose (pictured). It doesn't look nearly as elegant trying to mimic that pose in real life.
Near the end of this week, I managed to hit the halfway point on the Romanian Duolingo course! Exciting! I'm on unit 20 out of 40 total. It's a pretty small course, but regardless a very cool milestone :-)
I've been blasting through Duolingo pretty heavily this week, and I hope to continue at this rough pace. It's so satisfying. Someone did beat me to first place in the diamond league at the last moment though, so I might be driven to violence.
The last and most important thing I did this week though was watch Sweeney Todd. Sondheim is crazy, and I kept thinking "oh this is Death Note". Very cool. Just impeccable songs and performances.
You will notice the borzoi that ends this page. What a cutie. I'm thinking of just drawing many borzois. Can't be a bad plan.
