This week has been a tragic week of being ill, but as of writing this I have just edited a new video about the comments on New Yorker cartoons, so that will be out soon!
I also finished The Almost Moon, an incredible book I started reading last week, and I was very interested to learn that it has pretty bad reviews on Goodreads (people do not like the main character - which is fair, but integral to why I loved the book so much, personally). I get being a hater (an honourable way of life), but I thought the way the book handled themes of regret and being "trapped" by both regrets and your dysfunctional, abusive, and/or deeply mentally unwell family members really unique and beautiful.
I didn't much like being sick or being in isolation during this week, but I did get some good media time. The Good Nurse was a powerfully atmospheric movie about a real life killer nurse, and the 1978 LOTR movie is beautifully wacky. Highly recommend both. Rotoscoped Frodo is my dear little scrungle.
It's been a little bit more of a gap than I'd hoped for between my last video and the new one I just finished editing (it's been almost two weeks), but I'm feeling good about some upcoming ones I have planned and that's worth any little disease break. I have Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics sitting on a desk nearby, waiting for me to read too, so I'll get to that soon (then I will understand comics - finally).
