DESCRIPTION

It has been a few months since I started developing Milfheim: The Twisted. In fact, I only began creating the main story, writing dialogues, and starting actual rendering in July. Before that, I was doing concept setup and test rendering in Daz3D and Blender, and I began defining the first character names and rough appearances a few months ago.Lighting

One of the aspects I’ve been focusing on while developing this VN is the natural feel of light and lighting.I’m not pursuing extreme realism, but I’m paying attention to the lighting setups that can be showcased in a 3DCG VN. For this reason, a significant amount of time and effort has gone into implementing and maintaining this aspect in the rendering programs.

Every scene has its own unique lighting setup. Additionally, the lighting is adjusted according to each character and situation. As I mentioned earlier, expressing depth, naturalness, and beauty through light and shadow aligns with the atmosphere I want for Milfheim. Another important reason is to avoid artificial image corrections in programs like Photoshop (this is purely my personal preference as the developer).

As with any skill, repetition brings proficiency. The same applies to 3DCG rendering. Even while preparing version V0.1, I can notice some differences in quality between the initial renders and the ones I finished today. Therefore, before releasing the first version, any unsatisfactory renders are being revised. However, I won’t let perfectionism delay the release too much.

I’ll continue in Dev_log #02.
