That Day When Suzuki-kun Wasn't the Mob-B! Chapter 293: The Idiot Sandwich
"But, Sona-chan..."
Serafall looked at her little sister with an incredibly adorable, teary-eyed, puppy-dog expression. She pouted, her massive chest heaving dramatically beneath her frilly magical girl outfit. "I just want to meet Finn-chan..."
"No. I absolutely will not let you."
Sona's decision was absolute. They were standing in the quiet, dimly lit foyer of Sona's private residence in Kuoh. The crisp scent of Earl Grey tea lingered in the air from earlier, but right now, Sona's head was pounding. In the past, she might not have dared to physically restrain a reigning Maou, but tonight? She knew she had to drag Serafall away from the Kuoh Shrine, or else Finn's chastity—and the dignity of the Sitri House—would completely disappear!
Sona shuddered at the thought. What would the Underworld call Serafall if she actually went through with her shameless proposal? A slutty Maou? No way! Sona absolutely refused to let her sister throw herself at a man like some desperate succubus.
She was deeply relieved that she had managed to drag her older sister home the second the battle ended. If Serafall had continued her insane, incredibly loud rant about a Shimaidon—a sister-sandwich—the entire supernatural world would have heard it. It would have sparked the biggest, most scandalous political crisis in the history of the Underworld.
Sona had to stop Serafall, no matter what. She could not let her sister ruin both of their reputations!
"Sona-chan..." Serafall's teary-eyed expression suddenly vanished. Her lips curved into a sharp, mischievous, and incredibly knowing smile. "Are you jealous?"
"............"
Sona blinked. Her breath hitched, and a brilliant, burning heat exploded across her face, flushing her cheeks down to the collar of her strict school uniform.
"W-What are you saying, Onee-sama?!" Sona stammered, her voice cracking slightly in the quiet room. "How could I possibly be jealous?! You are a Leviathan! A Maou! How could you propose something so completely shameless in front of everyone as if it were perfectly normal?! You have a supreme reputation to uphold, and you just tried to throw yourself at him!"
Sona was practically yelling to hide the truth. Yes, she was incredibly jealous.
But she would rather die than admit it out loud. Her feelings for Finn had quietly morphed into something she could barely describe, let alone comfortably expose. It wasn't that she was clueless about romance. She knew Finn found her highly attractive. She remembered the heavy, suffocating tension during their private chess matches in the Student Council room.
She would purposefully wear sheer black tights, shifting in her leather chair to explicitly let him see the smooth, slender line of her thighs. The soft rustle of nylon crossing over nylon was her secret weapon, a desperate, incredibly lewd attempt to distract his sharp mind so she could finally win. Finn's dark eyes would always linger heavily on her legs, sending a sharp, electric jolt straight to her core... right before he lazily, effortlessly put her in checkmate.
It was their secret, silent exchange of tension. Sona knew that if anyone found out the famously strict President used her own thighs to distract a boy, she would be branded a shameless woman forever.
"Sona-chan. If you just sit around dawdling, you are going to lose him, you know?"
Sona froze. This time, Serafall didn't use her bubbly, silly magical girl voice. Her tone was completely flat, serious, and dripping with the heavy authority of a true Maou.
".............."
Would she really lose him? Sona wanted to fiercely deny it, but deep down, the chilling reality set in. Finn was an incredibly attractive, devastatingly powerful anomaly. Whether it was his handsome face, his lazy but unshakeable calmness, or his world-ending strength—Sona knew she would never meet another man like him.
The men of high-class Devil society were ruthless. They locked down wives of equal status as soon as possible, leaving the rest to fight over the scraps. Even now, Sona could clearly see the political gears turning. After formally breaking her engagement with Riser, Rias Gremory was actively hunting for a new husband, and Finn was undoubtedly her primary target, despite the ethical boundaries.
Yet, if there was a reason Sona was hesitating, it was because of her own rigid nature. She was a master of chess; she despised making reckless, uncalculated moves. But in the brutal war of love, if you spent all your time planning the perfect defense, an aggressive opponent would crush you before you even placed your knights.
Furthermore, Finn actively avoided the concept of marriage. He hated political headaches and genuinely feared endangering his partners. He clearly preferred casual, physical relationships over legally binding ones.
Sona had a million logical excuses for why she hadn't confessed, but the truth was painfully simple: she was terrified of being rejected. She believed that if she just strategized long enough, she could perfectly corner him—
"Huh?!"
Sona was violently pulled from her thoughts. Serafall suddenly stepped forward and slapped both of her cold, slender palms on either side of Sona's flushed cheeks, squishing her face together.
"Sona-chan, you are an idiot sandwich!"
"..........." Sona's lips were squished into a helpless pout.
"I know you are a smart and brilliant tactician," Serafall said, her golden eyes burning into Sona's. "But do you honestly think the other girls around him are stupid?"
"........."
"While you're sitting alone in your room, drafting a hundred-step master plan to win his heart, the other girls are being more straightforward! They will just drop their towels, throw themselves into his bed, drain him dry, and get pregnant! If you wait too long, you are going to be left in the dust! Are you seriously okay with being his second or third wife?!"
Serafall's brutal, entirely unfiltered reality check echoed loudly in the foyer. Sona had never expected her silly sister to deliver such a devastatingly accurate assessment.
But Serafall was entirely right. Sona wasn't stupid. If someone actively tempted Finn, letting raw lust completely take over, and actually managed to get pregnant first... what then? Even if Sona had the perfect, most romantic confession planned, the girl carrying his child would instantly be elevated to his primary wife by the sheer laws of Underworld politics!
"C-Can he even marry more than one wife?!" Sona panicked, her voice muffled by Serafall's hands. "We're supposed to be monogamous! And I am the heiress of the Sitri! Can I even legally marry him if he has others?!"
"Who gives a damn about the rules?!" Serafall scoffed, finally letting go of Sona's face. "The strong dictate the rules of this world! He is so insanely powerful that he can make the illegal, legal! We are Devils! Since when did we care so much about boring traditions? And so what if you're the heiress? If you get knocked up, you just name his child the heir of the Sitri House! It's that easy!"
"..........."
Sona felt deeply, profoundly insulted being treated like an idiot by her magical-girl-obsessed sister, but the bitter pill of truth was impossible to swallow. She was an idiot for not making a move.
"But... it's probably too late for tonight, anyway," Serafall sighed dramatically, her shoulders dropping.
"Wh-Why?" Sona asked, a sudden spike of anxiety piercing her chest.
"Because that little blonde Phenex girl was looking at him like a starving predator. She's probably already naked in his bed right now."
"..........."
Sona felt her soul attempt to leave her body.
"Don't worry too much, Sona-chan," Serafall patted her sister's stiff shoulder. "It isn't entirely over. He might refuse her advances if he isn't ready to commit to the Phenex House just yet."
Somehow, I highly doubt that, Sona thought, feeling a crushing weight in her stomach.
"More importantly," Serafall's tone shifted, returning to the regal authority of a Maou. "We need to focus entirely on the upcoming peace summit. You are hosting it at Kuoh Academy. Do your absolute best on the security arrangements."
"Yes, Onee-sama," Sona bowed her head slightly.
Even if Serafall was ridiculous ninety percent of the time, she was incredibly capable when it mattered. Sona deeply respected that about her. What Sona didn't know, however, was that Serafall was already formulating her own aggressive strategy to steal the handsome young anomaly right out from under her little sister's nose.
While the Sitri sisters plotted in Kuoh, a much larger, far more serious meeting was quietly taking place in a secure, neutral dimension.
Sirzechs Lucifer, Michael, and Azazel.
The three absolute apex leaders of the supernatural factions had gathered in secret. The violent, rogue actions of Kokabiel had forcibly torn away the unspoken, fragile illusion of peace they had maintained for centuries. A new, terrifying era was rapidly approaching.
A collective, heavy sigh of relief was shared among the three leaders. The fact that Finn Balam—the walking weapon of mass destruction—had agreed to attend the peace summit and support their treaty was the greatest diplomatic victory they could have hoped for. With him in the room, their safety was virtually guaranteed.
But what the three leaders didn't know was that while Finn might have agreed to the peace, the shadows of the world had not.
In the darkest corners of the dimensional gap, a certain group of radical terrorists, rogue Devils, and disgruntled heroes were watching, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. The Khaos Brigade was ready to burn the peace treaty to ashes.
