A new Fantasy WIP has arrived!
So for this month's original characters, I wanted to try work on a fantasy creature I've never done before, a Griffin! Griffins or Gryphons are a mythical creatures that traditionally have the body of a lion and wings/head of an eagle. I think they're most famously depicted in the Warcraft movie and MMO although they're definitely in tons of other fantasy media too.
Basically, I've always wanted to make a Griffin (and secretly wished to ride one 😅) and hopefully the D&D fans can include it in their games. 😄 Stylistically, I've kept the eagle/lion body although some concepts depict Griffins them with eagle back legs as well. I kind of flip flopped over which style looks best but I think I'll include both versions. I also did an armored version for extra badass points.
As part of the 2-for-1, I also included a Griffin rider!
She's a completely original character like the Fairy Queen with the idea she would ride the Griffin into battle. Picture it, a zombie army is besieging a town and the defenders are getting absolutely trounced. But then the air cavalry arrives and picks off the leaders with a bunch of well placed arrow shots that throws the entire army into disarray and snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. Wouldn't that be a epic entrance on a tabletop game? 🤩
Anyways, I designed her to be a versatile character who can use sword/spear and bow mounted or not so she can fit into any combat role for a party (poses in future posts). I also had this idea for a diorama where she's relaxing at a campsite with the Griffin. If I can fit that in this month, I'll show it later.
As promised, I also included some extra weapons for my Verminlord proxy. I'm keeping them off patreon for now but the new Verminlord WIPs it have been sent through email. He'll end up getting tons of head options as well. 👍 Community members can mix and match the weapons/helmets but example combinations are in included in the email update.
