Version 0.17 has been out for a few weeks now and the public release was initially scheduled for the 16th January. However, I did not get to the point I wanted to for version 0.17 and I am planning a small release (0.17.3) at some point in the near future to fill in some gaps. Particularly for Faye’s storyline which currently ends abruptly mid way through a punishment. Therefore I have decided to delay the public release until after version 0.17 is fully complete. Instead I will be releasing a version 0.17.2.3 to all patrons (1$ and up) on the 16th January (with only bug fixes and possibly a partial french translation).
My plan is to make a version 0.17.3 (with additional content) and release it to all patrons $5 and up (with no beta period) sometime in the next month or two, with a public release a month after that.
I understand that some people might be upset to hear this news and may accuse me of some sort of chicanery. However, I want to stress that this is not a financially motivated decision; this is about wanting to move on to version 0.18 as quickly as possible. The public release is more of a time sink than people might imagine. It puts a strain on my team both in terms of getting the translation completed as well as providing tech support to a much larger group of people. I also don’t want to deal with countless people asking me why Faye can’t get to level 3 and I really need to fix that before releasing this version out into the wild.
I have some general admin to do this week, I wanted to do something extra special for the next development update (number 69!), plus I still have the dedicated android version to work on. So it’ll be at least a couple of weeks before I can even get started making content again. Therefore, I can’t set a date for version 0.17.3 just yet. I am just going to ask people to be patient for the time being.
