Devlog Update: Barn Location, Tribal Captivity System, Armor Mechanics, and QOL Improvements
We are pleased to present our latest development update. This patch introduces the Barn location, the Tribal Captivity "Soft Bad Ending" loop, a revised armor and damage-mitigation system, and several key quality-of-life (QOL) enhancements designed to streamline your gameplay experience.
Below is a detailed breakdown of the implementation.
Barn Location & Daily Management
The Barn Location has been fully integrated into the game world. This zone functions as an economic and progression hub where players can generate daily income, engage in combat encounters with delinquent entities, and break in mounts to enhance world map travel efficiency.
Daily Routines and Operations
The daily operational cycle begins precisely at 08:00. Players are tasked with managing various livestock and specialized creatures - specifically chickens, pigs, and Equinoids - frequently requiring coordination with a helper Caninoid. Due to the rebellious nature of these creatures, operations require careful oversight.
Current functional activities include:
Resource Harvesting: Collecting milk from cows and gathering eggs from chickens.
Feeding Operations: Managing pig feeding schedules (players may optionally hire Caninoid assistance for a fee).
Training & Exercise: Conducting structured physical routines with Equinoids to improve behavioral metrics.
Combat Encounters: Initiating pacification battles against insubordinate Equinoids and Caninoids.
The Dominance Mechanics
Both Equinoids and Caninoids are governed by a Dominance Gauge. If a player’s dominance rating falls below the required threshold, target creatures will reject commands and potentially initiate a rebellion. Because these entities possess high situational awareness, failing a dominance check triggers immediate penalties or forced combat.
Development Note: Maintaining high dominance is critical for standard operations. However, players may note that specific, hidden event lines are deliberately gated behind low dominance thresholds.
Soft Bad Ending: Tribal Captivity
This update introduces our first specialized Soft Bad Ending loop, set within the jungle-based Tribe Captive encampment.
Defeat or capture within the jungle biome results in the player being detained by a robust, high-stamina local tribe. Unlike standard hostile factions (such as brigands), the tribe operates under a structured communal system. Captives are permitted rest, provided opportunities to earn trust through labor, and allowed to participate in tribal rituals.
Players can navigate this captivity state through two primary pathways:
1. The Escape Route
Players begin their captivity shackled within a secure cell, requiring the neutralization of two distinct structural blockades. While performing mandated chores and rituals, players can allocate time to grind down their shackles and breach the cell walls. Once outside the cell, escaping the broader encampment requires careful navigation and stealth.
2. The Integration Route (Subduing)
Alternatively, players can choose to assimilate into the tribal community. By systematically generating trust, completing communal labor, and attending scheduled rituals, players can eventually secure full integration. Achieving this status grants permanent freedom of movement, transforming the encampment into a permanent, accessible safe zone on the world map.
Armor & Defense Mechanics Update
We have overhauled the combat damage calculation by implementing a dual-layer Armor System. Defensive gear is now split into two distinct functional categories:
Body Armor: Provides a fixed, predictable reduction to all incoming damage values.
Armor Plates: Introduces a dynamic mitigation layer that rolls a defensive attribute dice at the start of each combat turn to absorb incoming damage.
Unlike the weapon system, armor attributes will not be randomized via RNG. All defensive gear has been procedurally designed and fixed by the development team. This ensures that armor serves as a definitive "gear check" requirement for high-tier content, preventing artificial difficulty spikes or early-game imbalance caused by lucky item drops.
Quality of Life (QOL) & System Optimization
To improve overall user experience, several technical adjustments and interface overhauls have been deployed:
Worldmap Inventory Navigation: Players can now access, review, and manage their character inventory directly from the world map interface without needing to enter a settlement.
Schedule UI Integration: A new scheduling tracker has been implemented, allowing players to efficiently monitor time-sensitive events at both the school and the barn.
Authentication System Revision: The account login architecture has been optimized to improve connection stability and reduce loading latency.
General Bug Mitigation: Resolved several high-priority stability issues and script errors reported in previous builds.
