I often hear how my characters seem "real". That might be because I have been drawing them for years and years in one form or another.
The whole thing started when I was a child, trying to write a diary and little opinionated characters just started showing up. That turned into a life long obsession and a story, I have been drawing over and over ever since, all hand drawn, well over a 2000 pages. It was actually a story about murder, mental illness, war and a whole bunch of hippies and was set in the 70s. Probably why many are confused about the absence of technology in my story.
Tom and Jeremy started out as side characters and the "worlds most dysfunctional couple". Jeremy used to be a smart little hippie guy who just made everybody happy and Tom a grumpy war veteran with a nervous trigger finger. The story actually revolved around a much more aggressive version of Ravi. As the story went on, I became more and more smitten with Tom and Jeremy and their dynamics rather than Ravis revenge on society and life itself. I became more aware how I just don`t relate to people and how drawing animals just comes so much more natural to me. And I always thought, Jeremy kinda looks like a dog and Tom kinda acts like one anyways. So Jeremy turned into a nerdy border collie and Tom a hybrid with no bite inhibition to replace the happy trigger finger. I combined my love for this story with my obsession for dogs, got an Ipad and went to town. The story is much less dark and the characters way nicer, but the humor stayed the same. Parker and Boris are characters that joined way late, which is also why they pretty much remained exactly the same, they just became dogs. I also largely changed the dynamic as in how the characters know each other or who they are to each other. The main character itself didn`t fit in this story, and they all kinda met via him. So with him missing, a lot doesn`t make sense in the new set up, but I will figure it out again I`m sure :D
