This project became a bit of a technical breakthrough for me, since I finally found a way to animate everything the way I used to—at 15fps—but render it at 30fps or even higher. As always, it didn’t come without its issues and challenges, but now I can avoid the awful frame jitter (like with the eyes and mouth in the last video).
That said, I’m still not planning to completely give up on frame interpolation, since rendering at 30fps—and in 4K right away—was an extremely long and demanding process for my PC. (Though honestly, 4K was probably overkill, and I should’ve just done it the old way with upscaling.) Still, this was something of an experiment, and I think it turned out pretty well, even if it took more time than I expected.
As for the video itself, I was thinking of also doing a full version from a first-person perspective, but right now I’m not sure if it’s really necessary. So if you end up liking the video, I’ll definitely consider it. For now, I’m off to work on the SFX.
