I wanted to change up my Patreon strategy a bit. To be completely transparent, I can't rely on ad revenue because it can differ each month, and Patreon is perhaps a little bit more stable way for me to fund my videos (and myself) while making sure I give supporters benefits!
Here are the updates:
1. Early access videos (all tiers)
The big update is early access videos. Any tier can get them. You'll be able to watch my new videos here before they go up on YouTube, and they'll be ad-free too.
I won't be doing this on YouTube memberships because YouTube doesn't let you sort videos by members-only. If I upload there, people would have to scroll through all the members-only stuff just to find my regular videos, and I've seen other creators do that and I found it a little bit annoying.
As for how early the videos will go up, it will depend on my situation, but at the latest it will be up a day before the actual upload.
2. Bonus content
I know I said I was going to start a second channel before, but I think it just makes more sense to post bonus content here instead.
These will be periodic because I want to focus on my main YouTube videos first. If I have time to edit other videos (like non-train-related stuff or just random daily things), then I'll post them here. Because I'm prioritizing my YouTube videos, these bonus videos won't be as refined and I'm not going to spend as much time on them as the train videos.
3. Cheaper starting tier
I dropped the first tier down to $1 (from $2). $2 felt like a weird number, and $1 might make it easier for people to just try it out.
I also renamed all the tiers to be more train-related, which I think fits the channel better.
4. More tiers
I added more tiers, but there's not much difference between them. It's more like if you want to support me more, even for just a month, that would mean a lot.
