Guest Stars

As announced last time, we will soon be enriching the story world with more incredible voices, adding more texture and fresh chemistry. To reiterate, though, we must do this carefully and sparingly so we don't crowd out our existing character arcs. The adding of recurring core characters, like our fabulous four, will therefore be handled with extreme care.

So one thing we'll do is have guest stars -- actors with characters that appear once or on occasion. These could be SFW or NSFW appearances. And if a guest star proves popular, they have every chance of returning, and even graduating to become a full-time recurring cast member!

Starting with Episode 8, the show will start seeing Guest Appearances from some of the most talented actors from GWA and beyond.

The first new VA to guest star will be announced the first week of July. Two are already signed on, and a third is planned before the end of season 1.

Writing

But when is the end of season 1? I'm keeping it hush hush as to which episode will be our glorious Season 1 finale. Even the actors don't know yet.

I finished scripting Episodes 8 and 9 . Those are now with the cast as our recording window is officially open. This included writing two new characters for our two new actors, which is always a fun exercise, and often leads to realizations about existing characters.

Episode 10, meanwhile, has been... fighting me. I've been flopping between three different approaches and haven't been able to decide which is more appropriate for where these characters are in their journeys and relationships. Don't get me wrong, as much as writing this series is now technically "work", staring at the wall and pondering these characters is also my favorite way to spend time: "What mood are they in here?", "What are they struggling with?", "How do I tie in what they learned last episode?", "What do they want in this scene?", "Do they know why they want what they want?", etc.

I love these characters, the actors love their characters, and I don't want to let anyone down by a lazy lack of consideration. I'll get it. Just gotta LOCK IN.

Episode 7

I'm making good progress on Episode 7 and we're definitely on schedule. The recordings have all come in and I'll be finishing up their dialogue edits this afternoon. I should have time to start placing some initial SFX as well. This one's not as heavy on SFX as the last couple episodes, which is a nice change of pace, and also happens to help me out since I still have the aforementioned writing to go do.

All four characters appear in this one again, but I had a little fun with the presentation. Expect something a little different...

So what's in Episode 7? Well, Episode 5 included the results of Polls 1 and 2, Episode 6 included Poll 5, I wonder what Episode 7 will bring...

Art

With Morgan's character art revealed, we have our full (initial) cast unveiled.

As is typical with VAs, I've commissioned a different artist each time, spreading the love around and building working relationships. Despite the different artists, we've had a fairly consistent style, and I think that'll be the case for the next little while as we build a small catalogue of what these characters are like. Eventually, though, it'll be fun to mix it up.

There are three NSFW pieces coming, covering all four characters. One is for Kenzie, but it takes place before she gets her new tattoo, in case you're wondering why it's missing. Another is for Morgan, and let me tell you, the initial sketch made my jaw drop like a fucking cartoon. Lastly, Aubrey and Alice will appear together in that threeway scene in Episode 4 as per the results of poll 9. I haven't seen a sketch for that yet, but I'm sure it'll be absolutely delicious.
