We’ve been sharing many updates lately, primarily focusing on the fipets themselves. Today, we want to take a step back and show you how the world of Fipetopia is coming together. Moving forward, we’ll be posting devlogs whenever we hit exciting milestones.
To kick things off, let’s talk about the world map.
This is a rough sketch I made over a year ago. Even then, the core structure and progression were already in place. As with most creative projects, I expected the final design to diverge from the original vision—but surprisingly, it hasn't!
The current map stays very true to this early concept. While we have more polished versions in development, I’ll save those for a future update.
As some of you might notice, the map draws inspiration from Breath of the Wild. However, since Fipetopia features a leveling system, we opted for a more structured progression—closer to the regional scaling of Elden Ring than a completely "go anywhere" open world.
Players will start in the tutorial area and journey counterclockwise through the world: Grasslands → Water → Volcano → Snow → Desert → The Center
Below are some in-engine shots showing how these environments have evolved.
Naturally, each region is home to its own unique fipets:
Lake Region: Water-dwelling species
Volcano: Fire-resistant fipets
Snowy Peaks: Those adapted to the biting cold
Desert: Hardier types built for extreme heat
We can’t wait for you to start exploring. Currently, we’re balancing our time between designing new fipets and focusing on localization. We’ll have more to share as development progresses!
