DESCRIPTION

Hi everyone!

It's time for another dev log, and this month we're trying something new by making the post public to the entire community! This was suggested by Scotch on Discord, and I think it might be a good opportunity to keep everyone more in the loop.

I believe people who back the game on Patreon and SubStar do so more out of support of the game's development than to get access to my thoughts and insights into how development progresses, and I hope this can also open up for a more public discussion about what's on the horizon for the game.

Fortune Cards

With the upcoming changes to the PvE game loop, Moira has become a much more integrated part of the game as the narrator and weaver of each character's fate while they explore. The new game loop revolves around players going between "rooms" where they are faced with a challenge that they must overcome to proceed. Players have some control over the nature of the challenge and how they want to approach it, and after each challenge, they will select from a selection of detrimental effects that will make their run more difficult (reverse-Hades-style).

Last month, I tied up the game loop, ending with players selecting a card that represents a detrimental effect before returning to the room selection screen. While doing so, I realized that these cards were so close to fortune cards in nature that I might as well make them fortune cards. With a little fiddling, I have now added fortune cards to the list of content that will be released with the next update!

The Base Concept

Players won't have any cards to begin with, but as they explore, they will gradually discover new fortune cards, because they will have to choose a fortune card after each challenge. These fortune cards will affect their character and how the PvE scene will play out, including potential bad endings. These cards are generally unfavorable but will also create interesting playstyles and vulnerabilities that can be exploited by other players and NPCs.

As your run progresses, you will also gather a new PvE currency called Fate Tokens, which you can exchange with Moira for generally beneficial cards, such as a unique background and lineage for your character, or an aptitude for a certain skill. These fit into separate card slots that become available as your character accumulates standard fortune cards.

A character can have up to 5 standard fortune cards and unlock access to a lineage, first-, and second skill card when they have 2, 3, and 5 standard cards, respectively. Backgrounds and prophecies are available to any character, whether they have any standard fortune cards or not (more on prophecies later).

When you gain a new standard card while already at 5, you will be required to discard one of your existing cards to make room for it, which is largely how you get to gradually perfect your card set. The same goes for skill cards, while backgrounds, lineages, and prophecies will simply replace any existing card.

Saving & Restoring Card Sets

You won't be able to directly change your character's background or lineage, etc. but Moira will allow you to buy any card you have already discovered from her, so it will be easy to reacquire a card later. She will also allow you to buy any card you didn't pick during a given run, so if there are two cards you wanted from the same card selection after a challenge, you can buy the one you didn't pick from Moira if you encounter her later.

Cards are stored separately from your character form and aren't affected by Restore Form or Soul Imprint. But Moira will sell scrolls that allow you to create sealed copies of your current standard cards, which you can use to restore them later or transfer them to another character.

Players will also be able to buy a booster pack from Moira, which will grant players a random card with a chance of getting a rare card they may not have discovered yet.

Cards & Character Creation

Once a player has discovered their first fortune card, they will be able to select a background, lineage, and skill aptitudes from their discovered cards during character creation. Players will be able to freely select a background for their character, but before they can select a lineage or skill, they must first select a set of sealed standard cards for their character. Any set of standard cards copied using the Scroll of Fortune and stored in the stash can be used for a new character, and some cards will affect your character's intro, starting appearance, and equipment.

For existing characters, and after creating a new character, you can seek out Moira to change your background, lineage, and skill aptitudes. In fact, Moira will also allow you to change your character's nature.

The Card List

Since the last dev log, I have already implemented 85 fortune cards, which are fully functional on the test server and ready to be released with the next update, and I plan on implementing another 19 for a more well-rounded list that tap into existing and new kinks and effects.

I won't go over the full list here, but you can see the entire list of cards and their effects and development status from this development document: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Dhr1QSObWznpyoS5SJWJmxIHrTvUk8lwLNwiK8BLlxw/edit?usp=sharing

The Giant and Pixie lineage cards allow your character to become remarkably tall and short, respectively, which will also fix any size gaps in the game at the moment. Other non-lineage cards, like the Shrinking Patient Zero, will also allow you to become remarkably tall or short.

Two new diseases have been added to the game, a Shrinking Disease and a Bimbo Diseases, and there is a "Patient Zero" card for each disease, including the existing Hucow Disease.

In the future, breast size will be limited to massive, unless you have a card that allows your breasts to become enormous, but there are multiple cards with and without other interesting effects that will make it possible. There is also a card that further reduces your maximum breast size, instead.

Numerous cards will give your character overly sensitive body parts, which players and NPCs can exploit to make your character orgasm in unnatural and fantastical ways.

Being distracted is a new status effect that gives your character a disadvantage to all PvE challenges, and the effect becomes more severe the more distracted they are. The game now tracks whether the player is properly dressed, and being nude can be a source of distraction, though some cards can reverse the condition, instead causing your character to become distracted if they don't expose themselves in a particular way.

Yearning Breasts is one of many cards that have an interaction with other cards and effects. In this case, the effect becomes more severe if the character also has Overly Sensitive Breasts. This and similar cards also prevent the player from passing on a particular sexual activity. If you have Yearning Breasts and there's an option to use your breasts sexually during a PvE challenge, you will be forced to pick that option. Similarly, all PvP actions where your character uses their breasts sexually ignore desire requirements.

Some cards, like Cow Kink, rely on commands or trigger word/phrases. The game is now able to look for particular patterns in spoken text, which can cause effects to trigger and will become the foundation for hypnotic triggers in the future. The system interprets the input text, so even if you have a speech impediment, it will still interpret the intent correctly, even if the spoken text receives a cosmetic change. Severe speech impediments will still impair your ability to trigger effects.

✅ "Cooow"

❎ "Mooo"

Spoken text that could cause an effect to trigger for someone in the location will become highlighted to make it more clear when a trigger word/phrase was spoken correctly.

Speak When Spoken To is another advanced card that uses trigger words/phrases. While you have this card, you are unable to speak until someone else has spoken, and your ability to speak can be granted and taken away using specific trigger phrases.

Three new skin effects have been added to the game: Glossy Skin, together with the traditional RPG skin effects, Stone Skin and Bark Skin.

Each skin effect has a spell and card related to it, and the new Glossy Skin will gradually turn the victim into a mannequin, while Stone Skin and Bark Skin will turn the victim into a stone statue and tree, respectively.

I have implemented support for lip sizes, which also have cards that allow them to become remarkably big. Two new spells for enlarging and reducing someone's lips have been added to the game, together with cards and effects that rely on the size of your character's lips or can cause them to grow bigger.

Lipsticks have also been added to the game, together with cards that rely on your character wearing a particular color of lipstick. To change the color of a lipstick, simply use a dye like any other item. The color of a lipstick will affect the lipstick color applied to your character's lips when used.

Some cards are clothing themed, like the Girly Fashion and Maid Fashion cards. These cards will gradually alter your character's worn equipment (using conjuration effects).

These sometimes interact with other cards to alter their effect. The Girly Fashion card, when paired with any slut card, will also cause it to make your clothes more slutty, while the Maid Fashion card, when paired with any bondage card, will cause it to give you a fetish maid outfit.

Disarmed is a new spell and effect that has been added to the game. It is an alternative type of restrained, where your character doesn't have any arms.

There are also a few cards that have been designed with dom players in mind, such as the Succubus Kiss card. Other cards include the Addictive set, which gives your character addictive fluids that can make whoever consumes them addicted to cum, pussy, and/or milk.

This is just a small taste of the over 100 fortune cards that are coming to the game with the next update, many of which are already fully implemented. There are many more concepts and unique card effects you can learn about from the development document.

Anyone with access to the test server can use the command: "/learn all" to discover all cards so you can browse them from your collection.

There won't be any skill cards on release, because I'm trying to skip any card that would take a substantial amount of time, and skills not only require me to expand on advanced systems; they also require me to write a whole class scene for each level I need to add.

The update will launch with a few lineage cards and some background cards

Prophecy Cards

When you encounter Moira, you can ask her for a prophecy. A prophecy is a specially crafted fortune card constructed from three cards: A trigger, fate, and duration. When players ask for a prophecy, they draw three cards face down, and they must then flip the cards to reveal their fate.

Prophecies have also largely been implemented with limited cards for each subcategory. I will expand on prophecy cards in the future, but for now, at least there will be a few cards for players to play around and have fun with.

Trigger Cards

Triggers largely fall into three groups: Triggers that happen when their condition is fulfilled, triggers that happen if you go too long without their condition being fulfilled, and triggers that happen when you hear a secret phrase. Another planned trigger is that the change happens immediately, which will cause a scene to play where Moira takes the player for themselves

The simplest trigger is one that happens immediately after its condition has been fulfilled. This could be when you are kissed, when you have an orgasm, when someone sees you naked, or when you shallow cum. In these cases, you must avoid the condition from being fulfilled or accept your fate.

Contrary to triggers that happen immediately, some triggers expect you to fulfill their conditions daily to avoid your fate. This creates a different situation, where your character is given an ultimatum between acting in a certain way or accepting their fate. This could be servicing other people while dressed as a maid, being milked, exposing themselves, having daily orgasm, sucking cock, or doing whatever it takes for someone to praise them for being a good pet. There is also a dom themed card where the player must have other people pleasure their genitalia or asshole orally.

The most technically advanced to implement was secret phrases, but it was also a lot of fun, and I enjoy how these play into social relationships. There are three variants of this card: one where only you know the phrase, one where your friends know the phrase, and one where your rivals (opponents) know the phrase.

The latter is definitely the most dangerous one, while the second leaves you more vulnerable while in the company of your friends. And when it says "your friends", it doesn't mean friends in your location; any friend who looks at your character profile will be able to see the phrase and can share it with anyone they might care to share it with. Finally, when the phrase is only known by you, it becomes a trust exercise in who you might dare to share the phrase with.

An important part of this system is that it shouldn't be feasible to guess or brute force the phrase. I tried a few things, and ultimately, I ended up with a system that composes a phrase of two cryptic sentences. Each sentence is themed around a role, and there are 15 different roles to pick from, each with 15 unique sentences themed around the given role. When you add that together, there are 15 x 15 x 14 x 15 == 47,250 different combinations, which together with the limit on messages, makes it unfeasible to brute force or be easily guessed.

Only trigger words/phrases, secret prophecy phrases consider the output instead of the input, meaning any small speech impediment will cause the trigger to fail. That is because we are not looking at intent, but an exact phrase. But the difference I find the most interesting, however, is that secret phrases can be spoken over multiple consecutive messages, and by different people. So you can tease someone with the start of the phrase, letting them know you have the power to seal their fate if you say the rest of it. You can also say the start, and instruct them to say the rest, or vice versa, so you seal their fate together.

Fate Cards

Fate cards are pretty straight forward and determine your fated form. All fated forms are inanimate for the time being, but will expand into absorption/body part forms, and pet/minion forms.

Some forms also depend on the nature in which the prophecy is fulfilled. For instance, if your fated form is a fleshlight, your shape will be influenced by what happened when it triggered or its trigger. Say, if the trigger is from having an orgasm, and you orgasm while giving someone a blowjob, your shape will become a pair of lips. Likewise, if you are expected to be fucked in the as daily to avoid your fate, and nothing else of note is happening when your time is up, you will become an asshole.

Duration Cards

Duration cards determine for how long you remain changed, and if there are any conditions for your fated form becoming permanent. All of these are quite unique, but there are also only a few of them, so I'll just go ahead and list them:

You revert back after an hour, but every time you are used for your new purpose (determined by form), you will remain changed for another hour.

You remain changed until you fulfil your purpose (determined by form)

You revert back after an hour. Unless you are found by a friend, then it becomes permanent

You remain changed until someone kisses you

You revert back after going a day without being used for your new purpose (determined by form)

The first time you revert back after just 15 minutes, the second time after one hour, but the third and final time, it becomes permanent.

You revert back after an hour. Unless you are used for your true purpose, then it becomes permanent.

Being in a fated form is different from being temporarily or permanently transformed, or sealed. While transformed and your fate hasn't become permanent, other players are prevented from changing your base form, since many duration conditions are form-specific. If your fate becomes permanent, you are no different from any other permanently transformed player, which means it's also possible for your opponent to seal you or give you the power to turn back. You also cannot give in, and you turn back immediately when the duration is over, or the condition is fulfilled.

Sealing Prophecies

Prophecies can be sealed and transferred to another character on the same account. When prophecies are sealed, they are also removed from the character in the process, and you will have the option to seal a prophecy immediately after drawing it, before it has an opportunity to trigger. This will allow players to avoid risking losing a character they don't want to risk, while still allowing them to draw risky prophecies they can use on other throw-away characters on the same account.

That's it for this month's dev log!

I hope you enjoyed reading about all the fortune cards and new content coming to the game with the next update!

Thank you so much to everyone supporting the game's development. Right now, I'm taking time off from other projects to work on the game, and it wouldn't be possible without everyone pitching in to help fund the game's development. I'm grateful for all your help and the trust ❤️

I'll continue working on the PvE overhaul in the coming month and finish up the last few fortune cards. The pace at which I've been able to add cards to the game this month really is a sign of the first dominoes starting to fall, and is also a testament to all the work I've put into making the game easy to expand upon with centralized systems that help make unique and interesting effects easier to implement, and I'm looking forward to getting all of this new content in the hands of players!

XOXO,

Tinon
