Well well well, here we are, the first of (I hope!) many regular weekly Maidens chapter posts. I still don't know what to say here yet, other than thank you.
And I really mean that. The massive positive response to the first few chapters caught me rather off-guard; I thought I might pick up a handful of returning patrons in the first few days, a few new readers curious about the story, but ... I've actually lost count of the number of new patrons joining up. The positive comments, the readers who've been enjoying the opening, it's all left me rather amazed. So, if you're new or returning, or if you've been here all along, thank you so much. It's you who makes my storytelling possible! None of this would exist without all of you!
Ahem, and now, back to business.
Arc 2 is going to be a bit longer than I originally planned, going from 4 chapters to at least 5, maybe 6 at the outside. There's simply a lot more stuff to throw at Octavia right away than I thought would fit into 4 pretty hefty chapters. And that is my job right now, to throw things at Octavia until she ... breaks? (I feel so evil. Poor Octavia.) She'll lose her temper with me soon enough, and then I'll be in trouble.
I cannot express how much fun I am having with this story! I hope you are too!

This one is a real treat: a full-on character illustration of Octavia, (by sporktown heroine!) being very normal, very calm, very normal woman, perfectly rational. Nothing wrong with her! I do love this illustration style, it's so very her.
