Even half the complex away, Len found himself blown back with a wave of heat as the library exploded. The naked blue flames of Jessica illuminated the night as she stood in the ruins, her body extending out of the roof as she added manuscript pages to fuel her larger form. Even with her new size, the spirit was having a hard time tangling with the flying sword, making cuts on her fiery form, causing it to bleed. Hopefully, Tyler’s spirit had a better plan than he had. His opponent was still out there.
Gingerly getting up, the spellman winced more from the fact that there had been books on designing composite ward locks he’d yet to read, more than his blistering skin. Touching the [Healing Ward] on his skin caused it to sputter and fail even as he pumped mana into it. Felix’s cut shouldn’t have disrupted the magic, but it did. Something about cutting into the portion of his body that held his soul and the etchings? Harmony would know more, wherever she was. That was one good thing about these bloody games almost being over.
Tapping [Wizard Armor] a next of mana based scales climbed over Len’s skin in time for the tink - tink - tink - tink of four miniature metal swords slamming into him. “Elex, love doesn’t mean you need to be his slave.” He lectured the tiny multiple copies that the sword could make.
It had been hard not to talk to the blades when you spent so much time in the middle of Felix’s conversations and saw their personalities.
“Lenny, are you disrespecting my woman? You know what kind of punishment that will entail.” Felix chastised with his entrance, summoning the mini-blades to his hand to reform back into the larger one.
“My name is Len, L-E-N. Not Lenno, Lennix, Lonny, or Lenny. Why don’t you give up? There is no way you’ll defeat Tyler and me together.” Tapping into that emotion, Len fed it into his mana to boost his [Familiar Bond], which had undergone some changes as his body had reformed during the half-step process. Mana was the key, and internal mechanisms twisted as he fed it.
“Such a wonderful way to repay me for that body. But he’s over that way with three of my girls, and you’re alone with me.”
“About that.” The door in his [Familiar Bond] opened. “I’m never alone”. Len flexed [Correction]. Out of his chest burst forth Farthington, the feathered dragon’s mouth open wide, spewing a stream of arcane purple flames.
In Hazeldown, the crowd in the stadium roared with excitement.
