...“Jeez, Logan. Your family couldn’t find a more remote vacation home?” Scott huffs, his head resting on an arm propped by the car door. “I can’t get any signal in here.”
“Nope,” you chuckle at your copilot’s snarky comment, glancing away from the sunrise over to the rearview mirror at your friend and crush, Clara, the sole girl in this group, who’s busy taking pictures on her phone. “Everything okay back there?”
“Yeah, this place is gorgeous. Thanks for inviting us, Logan!” She chirps from the backseat, practically bouncing in place. You can’t help but let your sight rest on her for a tad bit longer than what’d be considered road safe, appreciating the Asian features that are smiling at you with uncontained excitement. God, she’s cute. A shame that she’s hung out with you for so long that you don’t dare to make a move, afraid to get friend-zoned and to be the one to mess up the long-standing dynamic of your friend group.
You dismiss the thought and focus back on the road as your destination finally comes into view behind the nearby treeline. A modest wooden cabin that your family bought a couple of years ago. You’d usually rent it out as an Airbnb to pocket some extra funds, but seeing as everyone had a week off from their studies this month, you brought up the idea of a mountain retreat on the group chat, leading to what you hope will be the best week you’ll have in a while...

Unfortunate delays, a couple of rewrites, and 3000 words latter, here it is! I don't tend to do sequels since my stories are pretty much always made to be one-offs. So I thought, what better way to make a sequel to Ditzy woods than to stick with the faux horror aspects of it, right? Ditzy woods was written to be a cliché of a horror story at a cabin in the woods, so I made this one with one of my favorite horror stories in mind, "My romantic cabin getaway isn't going as planned," or "Stolen tongues," as it is titled on CreepCast. I tend to be a horribly poor judge of how good a story of mine is, but I quite like this one, so I hope you do too. Anyway, enough rambling, hope you enjoyed it, and see ya on the next one : )
