Hey, Post Games pals. I've got some good news and some bummer news.
Bummer news first. I'm sick with a virus that has completely taken my voice. I can edit out the constant coughing from the show. But sadly, being unable to speak isn't something I can fix in post. At least not without the existential threat of an AI replica replacing me. My doctor has asked me to give my voice and body a few days of rest. So, next week will be the first "off" week for Post Games... Well, sort of.
This sets up the good news: before I went to the doctor, I managed to finish the most recent episode (now live!) and the upcoming Past Games on the history of Tomb Raider. So while you won't have a new episode next Friday, you will have one on Monday.
I'm shuffling the schedule a little, so here's a revised editorial calendar:
7/6 - Past Games: The History of the Original Tomb Raider
7/10 - Sick Week (Rerun of a classic episode with the bonus segment on the free feed)
7/17 - Ian Bogost on Good Games, Bad Discourse, and Living a Happier Life
7/24 - Can Game Freak Be More Than a Pokémon Factory?
7/31 - Designing Games for the Era of Endless Distractions
8/7 - The Beauty of Video Game Reviews (Pt. 2) - Christian Donlan
Thank you so much for supporting the show and making it possible for me to take a few days to recover without worrying that the entire business will collapse. That said, I'm neurotic about delivering this show each week. This won't happen regularly in the future, since I record many interviews weeks, if not months, ahead of schedule. But this week, being unable to record intros, outros, and bonus segments really tossed a wrench in my sense of preparedness.
One last thing, if you've made it to the bottom: do you have any early episode/bonus segment that you think I should post on the free feed for the rerun?
