I have an important update for you guys. I have been experimenting with a new way to make animation. It has been a frustrating but rewarding few weeks, and finally I think I have something decent to show you guys. Let me tell you how much time this new method is gonna save me.
Originally, every animation in this game is done in Live2D. It usually takes me more than a week of work to finish one scene. I have to draw the illustration, break the character into movable pieces in Live2D, animate each individual piece, animate multiple variations of the same scene, add sound effect, and commission a voice actress to voice the character. The point is, this is a very long process. That's why I usually only add one new animation in each new build. But with this new method I just figured out, I can basically skip the whole animating process. I just need to focus on drawing the character and adding the sound effect, not to mention the fluid animation you're seeing in this post is practically impossible to animate in Live2D.
What that means is I have more time to work on other parts of the game, like writing story, add more game mechanics, better combat system, more dungeons, faster content production in general.
For the character's portrait animation, I'm still gonna use Live2D because it's more consistent.
I don't know if you guys like this new style of animation though. What do you think?
