Dev Update: Introducing Parallax Environments to Lustrya

One of our big visual upgrades this month is the introduction of parallax layering to Lustrya’s environments (Unity Engine). With our new multi-layer parallax system we can separate environments into foreground mid-ground and background elements that scroll at different speeds as the player moves. This brings a strong sense of depth and world presence while still keeping our hand-drawn pixel aesthetic intact.

What parallax adds to the game

A greater sense of depthEnvironments feel layered and real instead of flat backdrops.

Stronger atmosphereDistant chambers torches pillars and props move subtly as the player moves which makes scenes feel more dynamic.

Improved visual clarityForeground objects stand out more cleanly from background elements.

A more cinematic presentationMovement through the world now has weight and flow which helps pull players deeper into Lustrya’s mood tone and setting.

Grid Snapping

We've also added a new room building workflow where rooms snap cleanly to a custom grid, making layouts consistent and much easier to manage:

Character Work in Progress (Dragoness)

Here’s a first look at our next character joining the Lustrya cast and one of the story’s main protagonists. We’ll be sharing more about her in the coming weeks!

As always, thank you for supporting the project and helping us move Lustrya closer to the experience we imagine. 💗
