A couple of months ago, we began development on the highly requested 'Player Ornaments' feature. This was temporarily on hold as we prepared the Wardrobe Demo, but we'll soon be revisiting it in small increments!
This is a deeply complex feature to add, but we're lucky that the Stamps system is similar enough to reference.
Player Ornaments will be a separate library of 3D models to place on your Stuffy. There will be a rather conservative limit on how many Ornaments can be placed per cosmetic/per Stuffy. We don't know this limit yet, but we will weigh performance with creative flexibility as we continue exploring the feature.
At the moment, we can place Ornaments with a default color on Stuffy and see it move with them. You can also rotate, scale, flip, wash them off, etc., like with Stamps.
What doesn't work (yet)?
No cursor to pick up Ornaments
Ornaments sometimes spawn invisible when selected from Craftbook
Ornaments are not saving to outfits
Ornaments won't show up in saved outfit icons
Design Tool doesn't work on Ornaments
No in-engine tool to auto-capture Ornament models as Craftbook icons
Ornaments don't appear outside of the Wardrobe
Placing Ornaments too close to certain cosmetics/bones will make it stick to Stuffy incorrectly
No support for jiggly Ornaments yet
As you can see, we've laid the groundwork, but this is a complex feature that we're dedicating small bursts of time to in between other, bigger tasks. There's a lot to be done, but things have taken shape as a prototype!
Because of the work needed, we aren't yet confirming this as a launch feature. Just as a precaution! We're also quite excited about it being a thing, though. <3
