Here is the background (and other layers) of the last picture, per a patron's request!
The majority of it is quite rough, just the parts that were not ultimately covered by the character got a little more detail. I quite enjoy doing sceneries/backgrounds, and it'd been a while since I last just did a quick and loose one like that so it was fun!
I'm not a very practiced painter, so I usually use stamp brushes that I make out of just images or patterns (grass, tree leaves, clouds, etc.) to add texture to my paintings. This time, I didn't bother too much with that and just got several photos and composed them together, then painted over it to blend it into a rough background, mainly just focusing on light and shadow rather than details. Medibang has some fun halftone options. Filtering the painted image after flattening it and then adjusting the alpha/gamma curves (and some manual erasing with the airbrush) gives a fun look to an otherwise plain painting in my opinion. Playing with filters/textures is one of my favourite part still! I think that even when they're really basic, adding a background can really add/change the vibe of something!
As to why it's flipped, it's cause I tend to mirror the canvas back and forth a lot and forget which direction it was supposed to be in, and I couldn't be bothered to flip it back around this time after exporting all 3 lol
And as for the background, idk anything about HSR, it just looks like there were some rustic locations in the game and I wanted to do a summery rustic image, so here we are
