In AmpliTube 5, presets are not imported via an "Open" menu within the application. Instead, you must manually place the preset files into a specific folder on your computer's system. Once the files are in the correct location, AmpliTube will automatically recognize and load them.
Step-by-Step Installation
1. Locate the Presets Folder on Your Computer
The path is different depending on your operating system:
For Windows Users: Open File Explorer and navigate to: C:\Users\[Your Username]\Documents\IK Multimedia\AmpliTube 5\Presets
For Mac (macOS) Users: Open Finder and navigate to: Documents / IK Multimedia / AmpliTube 5 / Presets
2. Copy and Organize Your New Presets
Take the .at5p files you have downloaded and simply drag and drop them into the Presets folder you just found.
I recommend creating a new subfolder within the Presets folder (e.g., "My Custom Presets") and placing the files there. This will keep them separate from the default factory presets and make them much easier to find later.
3. Restart AmpliTube 5
If the AmpliTube application was open while you were copying the files, you must close it and restart it. The program needs to scan the presets folder upon launch to update its internal library.
4. Load Your Presets and Play!
Open AmpliTube 5. On the left side of the interface, you will see the Preset Browser. Your new folder (if you created one) will now appear there. Simply click on it, select your preset, and enjoy the tone!
Important Troubleshooting Tips
Missing Gear Warning: I am using Amplitube 5 MAX v2 version to create my presets. Every preset is built with a specific chain of amps, cabs, and effects. If you see a warning about "missing gear" and some components are greyed out, it means your version of AmpliTube does not have those specific modules unlocked. The preset will still load, but it might sound different because the app will try to substitute missing items or bypass them. Make sure you are aware of which modules are used.
