Honkai Transformations - 101

--+--

In the control room, various instruments emitted a low hum. Streams of blue data scrolled rapidly across the screens, occasionally interrupted by a red warning box that would flash and vanish just as quickly.

Bronya stood beside Himeko, her gaze fixed on the cascading data with a somewhat dazed, fixated expression.

She was the only one present who truly grasped the sheer complexity of the information flowing by.

When Himeko finally finished her work and looked up to stretch, Theresa stood nearby, her bright blue eyes wide with nervous anticipation. "Himeko, how is it? This equipment..."

"It’s actually quite impressive," Himeko replied, opting not to mention that this gear should rightfully belong in a museum.

She wore a relaxed smile. "I’ve finished upgrading and optimizing the systems in your training room."

"Upgrading and... optimizing?" Theresa looked a bit bewildered, clearly not quite grasping the extent of the changes.

"Exactly."

Thinking about what she had just set up and what Kiana and the others were about to face, Himeko felt the corners of her mouth twitch, threatening to break into a grin.

She turned and tapped a few commands into the console.

A list of neatly organized folders began to appear on the screen, each labeled with a name. [Assaka], [Parvati], [Padrino MFG]—various types of Honkai Beasts, Zombies, and even Anti-Entropy combat mechs were all there, perfectly categorized.

"Previously, the attack patterns, positioning, and skill timings you saved in your database were static. You’d get used to them after fighting them a few times."

Himeko watched Theresa and the others, their expressions a mix of confusion and curiosity. Her golden eyes twinkled with a gentle, amused light, though internally, she was holding back a roar of laughter.

"But now, with my adjustments, these enemies will adapt in real-time based on your combat performance. They will employ tactics, cooperate with each other, and display behaviors indistinguishable from real, living threats."

When Kiana and the others heard this, their eyes lit up. They didn’t fear the enemies becoming stronger; if anything, this was exactly what they wanted!

"Furthermore, considering that the limited space made it difficult to truly simulate a battlefield environment..."

Though Himeko’s smile remained gentle, she now looked every bit like a devil surveying a flock of doomed lambs— lambs who were still excited, blissfully unaware of the torment they were about to endure in this space she had crafted, blending the properties of the Memorial Arena and the Abyss.

"So," Himeko swept her gaze over them and said softly, "from now on, this laboratory will simulate various battlefield environments with negative effects.”

“The stronger you become and the more enemies you defeat, the stronger the enemies will get, and the more punishing the environmental debuffs will be.”

"For instance, it will simulate high-concentration Honkai environments, similar to what I’ve read in your system logs, which will continuously erode you—or, to use gaming terms, drain your HP. It will also create environments that apply buffs and debuffs to both you and the bosses, sometimes even adding time limits or traps that appear out of nowhere."

"Sounds just like playing a video game," Bronya murmured.

"That sounds like so much fun!"

Kiana, already clenching her fists with a confident, determined grin, turned and sprinted toward the center of the training room. "Let me try first!"

"Kiana!" Theresa tried to hold her back to ask about the rules, but before she could even raise her hand, Kiana had already dashed out of the control room and down into the training area.

Himeko shook her head, watching her go. "Young people really have so much energy."

"I'm ready!" Kiana stood in the center of the training room, looking up at Himeko in the control room and shouting confidently.

"Understood."

Watching Kiana below, Himeko’s lips curled into a smile, and she pressed a button on the console to officially activate the system. White light spilled from the ceiling, illuminating the dome-shaped chamber until it was bright as day.

In front of Kiana, specks of light converged on the ground, rapidly coalescing into a massive orange Titan mech. It stood nearly four meters tall, like a small mountain looming before them.

A translucent, bright blue rigid shield flared to life in front of it—a shield capable of deflecting any frontal artillery fire.

"It’s... a Bio-Slayer, a 'Padrino MFG' Titan." Bronya’s eyes went wide with shock.

Murata Himeko looked at the Titan—a unit that even she found incredibly headache-inducing—and then turned to Himeko, asking with a sigh, "Isn't this a bit too harsh for their first match?"

"Yeah, that type of Titan was specifically designed to counter Valkyries," Theresa added, looking uneasy.

But Himeko simply watched the three girls on the training field, her expression calm.

These three "cheat-code" users had already gone head-to-head with a Herrscher while only wearing A-rank armor; she didn't doubt for a second that they could handle this Titan.

"I believe in them."

Murata Himeko and Theresa exchanged a helpless look, falling silent as they focused their attention on the three in the arena. Fu Hua and Yae Sakura stood together, eyes tracking Kiana and the others' every move.

"Kiana, Mei-onee-sama!" Bronya spoke rapidly, briefing them on the Titan’s capabilities—from its impenetrable frontal shield that could reflect gunfire and melee attacks, to its ability to enter a berserk state when heavily damaged.

"Can we really handle an enemy like this... right now?" Mei asked, glancing toward the control room.

Himeko caught her gaze, offered a trustful nod, and said gently, "Mei, believe in your potential."

"Right." Bronya shifted into a determined stance. "Mei-onee-sama, Kiana, as long as we don't mess up our coordination, it won't be a match for us."

"Yeah!" Kiana nodded, wiped her nose with her thumb, and flashed a cool, cocky smile. "Besides, if Silver Wolf could take on so many of these things alone, we’re three against one—how could we possibly lose?"

Bronya began to assign tasks: Kiana would handle frontal harassment, Mei would assist with QTE attacks, and she would hang back to provide fire support.

"Begin."

As soon as they were ready, Himeko hit the start button. The orange Padrino MFG began to move. It defied its bulky size with terrifying agility, rushing toward them with a sudden, bone-chilling lunge.

It left an orange blur in its wake, crossing the training field in under two seconds to arrive directly in front of Kiana.

The next instant, a giant iron fist—bigger than Kiana’s upper body—swung out, creating a heavy, whistling wind as it smashed toward her.

Yes! That’s it!!

Himeko felt a surge of excitement. This was a sight she knew all too well.

She had been "taught" by Padrino MFGs more times than she could count, learning the hard way exactly where those Valkyrie fragments came from!

Kiana barely side-stepped, the massive fist crashing into the floor with a deafening boom. The control room simulated the impact so effectively that the entire ground trembled.

"So fast!" Kiana’s voice was laced with shock.

"Kiana! Don't space out!" Mei’s voice came from the side. Her katana was already unsheathed, carving a line of sparks across the Titan’s leg armor.

The Padrino MFG tilted its body slightly, its massive, singular red eye flickering. With the dull roar of hydraulic pistons, its right arm swung horizontally.

BOOM!

From the rear, Project Bunny’s laser cannon slammed into the Titan's back armor, causing the behemoth to stagger forward.

"Their potential is immense," Himeko said, smiling as she watched the three of them tangle with the Padrino MFG.

"But this model has yet to show its true colors," Himeko added, her brow furrowing slightly as she watched the girls adapt to the rhythm, fighting the Titan blow for blow. She felt a twinge of concern.

"Then let's hope Kiana and the others can create a miracle."

As time passed, the girls' stamina began to wane. The Padrino MFG’s heavy armor began to crack and fall away.

Since Kiana and Mei’s attacks weren't dealing significant damage, they shifted to purely covering Bronya, creating windows of opportunity for her to land a shot.

Suddenly, after Kiana kicked the Padrino MFG hard in its rear hydraulic joint, its body swayed. Its single eye blinked, the blue light fading. It turned, its optical lens locking onto Bronya in the distance, and a sudden, sharp red glare erupted from its sensor.

"Bronya!" Mei screamed, desperate for her to dodge.

But the Padrino MFG’s massive fist was already descending toward her.

"Mei!" Kiana lunged forward, throwing an uppercut into the Titan’s fist to intercept it. Unsurprisingly, Kiana was sent flying, but the distraction gave Mei the split second she needed to dash to safety.

BOOM!

In the distance, Bronya fired a laser cannon shot that perfectly bypassed the shield, striking the Titan right in the head.

"Kiana!" Mei frantically scanned the area for her teammate.

Even in the control room, Himeko frowned, watching the spot where Kiana had landed.

But there was Kiana, standing up and shaking her numbed arm after taking a blow that would have crippled most A-rank Valkyries, flashing a confident smile. "I'm okay!"

Himeko’s mouth twitched. Her hand was already hovering over the pause button, ready to intervene. "Her physique... it’s terrifyingly resilient."

"Heh, well, she is Siegfried's daughter, a member of the Kaslana family after all." Theresa crossed her arms, wearing a look of pride that, given her stature, looked almost endearingly fierce.

In the training room, the Padrino MFG paused. Its red eye flared, and both mechanical arms rose, beginning to charge. An invisible gravity field coalesced beneath its feet, forcibly dragging Mei and Kiana toward its fists.

"Watch out! It's charging! It's an area-of-effect attack!" Bronya shouted.

Kiana and Mei leaped away, but they were barely a second too late. The Titan slammed its fists into the ground. A visible shockwave rippled outward, tearing up the simulated steel plating and sending debris flying. Kiana and Mei were sent sprawling, their ears ringing.

Exactly. Himeko felt a wave of sadistic joy. This was a quintessential Honkai experience—being taught by a Padrino MFG what it meant to respect "The Titan."

"This thing... is totally unfair!" Kiana gasped, struggling to push herself up off the floor.

Vwoom!

The Padrino MFG didn't give her a moment to breathe, charging forward again with erratic, twitchy movements.

"Kiana!" Mei screamed, watching as the Titan loomed over her. But just as a faint, subconscious glow appeared in Mei’s eyes, Project Bunny stood before Kiana, arms locked against the Titan’s mechanical limbs, holding it in a deadlocked state.

"Mei-onee-sama! Stupid Kiana! Now!"

Himeko nodded with satisfaction as, at Bronya's command, the other two sprang into action, attacking from both sides.

The Titan was already critically damaged. Faced with the melee pressure of Project Bunny—which had abandoned ranged fire—it lost its only advantage. Mei and Kiana’s attacks rained down, shattering what remained of its armor and exposing the intricate, glowing core circuitry within.

"Now!" Mei’s blade plunged deep into the exposed core.

The Padrino MFG shuddered violently, its red eye strobing.

"Kiana!"

"Here goes!" Kiana sprinted over, raised her long leg, and delivered a devastating kick directly onto the hilt of the embedded katana.

Clang!

The blade drove deeper, leaving only the tiny guard visible.

Suddenly, purple lightning surged along the steel, detonating inside the Titan and turning its internal precision components into useless electronic scrap.

Vwoom!

After a final shove from Project Bunny, the Padrino MFG wobbled and collapsed like a falling mountain.

"Finally... it's over." Kiana gasped for air, her clothes soaked in sweat. Mei looked equally exhausted, though Bronya seemed to be holding up slightly better.

"Well done," Himeko said from the control room, her gaze filled with genuine satisfaction.

"Heh, I told you! This 'Titan' thing was no match for us!" Kiana looked up, standing tall and flashing a cool, confident grin.

"I can't believe they actually did it." Murata Himeko couldn't help but sigh, looking at them with relief.

"You fought beautifully," Himeko said, not sparing any praise. "Even better than I imagined."

The three of them couldn't help but preen a little under her compliment.

"Come on up and rest." Himeko pressed a button, the training room lights dimmed, and the wreckage of the Padrino MFG dissolved into data, restoring the chamber to its original state.

The girls returned to the room, guzzling water.

"Now this is comfort." Kiana finished her drink and let out a satisfied sigh, looking like she’d been reborn. She still looked like she wanted more. "That 'Padrino MFG' thing was no match for us at all!"

Is that so? Himeko smiled, keeping her thoughts to herself.

Bronya sighed helplessly. "Stupid Kiana, this was just a test. In a real scenario, there wouldn't just be one Bio-Slayer Padrino MFG. The battlefield would be swarming with other types of Titans. If it were just the three of us, we wouldn't stand a chance against a coordinated 'Padrino MFG Legion'."

"Eh? A... a coordinated legion?" Kiana recalled the immense pressure from just one and widened her eyes. "Something that strong, and they show up in armies?"

"Alright," Himeko clapped her hands, looking at them with a smile. "Go get some rest for now."

She then turned her gaze toward Yae Sakura and the others, offering an encouraging look. "Anyone else want a turn?"

Fu Hua stepped out from the group, her expression calm and serious. "I will."

Yae Sakura followed closely behind. They exchanged a look and stood together in the arena.

"Then go together."

Himeko nodded and initiated the simulation. She felt a bit like Herta, luring the Trailblazers into the Simulated Universe just to watch them get pulverized.

Once the two of them were in position, the system generated its challenge: a miniature-scaled—so it could fit in the room—Emperor-class Honkai beast.

It had an ice-blue shell, a streamlined body, and looked like an alien, mutated giant marmot. It was Parvati!

"Whoa, wait a second..." Murata Himeko stared, genuinely surprised. "Isn't this enemy a bit too overpowered for them?"

"Don't worry, it won't be." Himeko shook her head.

The true "overpowered" ones here were Fu Hua and Yae Sakura—one, a MANTIS Soldier of the previous era; the other, a Pseudo-Herrscher who had merged with the Herrscher of Corruption.

"The system links to the St. Freya database to analyze the user's performance and select an appropriate challenge."

As Himeko spoke, the battle began. It also ended quickly. Despite Parvati's overwhelming power, Yae Sakura baited the beast while Fu Hua provided surgical support. Even Murata Himeko couldn't resist jumping in to help after a while.

Before long, the Emperor-class beast had its ice armor shattered and was beaten into submission, eventually being finished off by the combined firepower of the group.

Poor Parvati. Himeko held a mock vigil for the beast in her heart.

"Alright, that’s enough testing for today."

After Murata Himeko and the others returned to the control room, Himeko, who had subtly taken over the administrative controls, nodded at them.

"In the future... your training will begin incorporating the simulated environmental hazards I mentioned, which will apply various debuffs to you."

"Got it!" Kiana puffed out her chest, still confident. "That won't stop us. We’re going to be the strongest Valkyries!"

"Yes, yes." Theresa shook her head with a smile. "Strongest Valkyries, let's head back. You all smell like sweat."

"I do not!" Kiana turned bright red, lifted her arm to sniff herself, and her face scrunched up. "...Okay, maybe just a little."

Is that smell bad? If not for the sake of appearances, Himeko would have loved nothing more than to stand in the middle of that group of sweaty, post-workout Valkyries and take a deep, deep breath.

Kiana seemed to have a similar idea. As they headed out, she sidled up to Mei, grabbed her arm, and took a deep, lingering breath. "Mm~ Mei, you smell so good!"

"Ki—Kiana!!"

Chased by a blushing, embarrassed Mei, Kiana fled toward the dorms. Himeko watched them, feeling a sting of envy.

Just then, Bronya walked beside Himeko, looking up at her with serious, silver-gray eyes.

"Himeko-sensei..."

"Hm? What is it, Bronya?"

Himeko leaned down slightly, offering a soft smile. That expression made Bronya think of her mother, Cocolia.

"Bronya wants to know what kind of enemies exist in the stars. Bronya wants to fight them in the simulator—to see what kind of enemies Silver Wolf and Seele face."

"Oh?"

Himeko paused, then the corners of her mouth curled up in delight. Murata Himeko and the others turned, curious.

"You want to see the enemies from the stars?" Himeko mused for a moment before nodding. "Very well. I will import the data for the Antimatter Legion and the Fragmentum monsters into the database later."

"Thank you, Himeko-sensei." Bronya’s eyes brightened with anticipation.

If you want to see the Antimatter Legion... then you’ll have to experience the Doomsday Beast. Himeko thought, picturing the monster capable of scouring a planet’s surface, and felt a thrill of excitement.

They returned to the dorms. Aside from Himeko and Theresa, the others lined up for the bathrooms to wash away the sweat and fatigue.

Yae Sakura and Mei, the quintessential "homemakers" of the group, began cooking immediately after their showers.

Before long, the dorm was filled with the aroma of food.

For the next few days, aside from going to class, the girls lived in the training room, getting beaten black and blue by various enemies. Yet, their growth was rapid.

Even without armor, the three of them could hold their own against enemies that would normally wipe out an entire A-rank Valkyrie squad. It was a level of absurdity that rivaled a certain American captain who could go toe-to-toe with anyone just by holding a shield.

And Himeko...

On the evening of the fourth day, Murata Himeko walked into Himeko's room with several bottles of fine wine. "Want to have a drink?"

Himeko looked at her counterpart, her gentle eyes tinged with helplessness. Ever since the first night, Murata Himeko had come by with a bottle almost every evening.

Perhaps due to the awkwardness of that first night, Murata Himeko hadn’t let herself get that drunk again—but tonight, she seemed ready to drink her fill.

"Please, sit." Himeko shifted, making room for her to sit on the edge of the bed.

"It’s already the fourth day." Murata Himeko looked at her, her golden eyes filled with complex, lingering attachment.

"Are you sad about our parting?" Himeko smiled, taking the glass she offered. She met her gaze and whispered, "Parting is...the norm across the universe, even when humanity possesses technology capable of crossing entire galaxies.”

“At distances measured in hundreds of light-years—or far beyond that—the friend you're sharing drinks with today might be someone you never see again tomorrow.”

When Himeko finished speaking, her gaze remained gentle. Yet when she looked at Murata Himeko, there was now a faint trace of tenderness in her eyes.

As though she were looking at a younger sister.

That look left Murata Himeko feeling both awkward and amused.

She had never imagined that one day, someone would look at her that way.

“So let's cherish the time we still have together right now,” Himeko said, lifting her glass and taking a sip.

The two of them sat on the bed, drinking and chatting, one glass after another.

Before long, both women's faces were flushed red.

As Murata Himeko continued drinking, her consciousness gradually grew hazy. Her body softened, and she collapsed onto the bed.

“Honestly...” Himeko looked at her, a hint of helpless fondness in her eyes. After letting out a quiet sigh, she began helping Murata Himeko out of her clothes like an older sister caring for a younger one.

Fortunately, Murata Himeko had already taken a shower.

Otherwise, Himeko would have had the perfect excuse to grab a towel and thoroughly wipe her down from head to toe.

Even so, after a few moments, Murata Himeko was left wearing only a shirt and a pair of underwear.

As for a bra...

Murata Himeko hadn't been wearing one in the first place.

“Sleep well~” Himeko lay down beside Murata Himeko. Just as she was about to close her eyes, the woman beside her suddenly wrapped herself around her like an octopus.

“Hm?”

Himeko opened her eyes again, a pleased expression appearing in them.

Her favorite part had arrived after all~

Murata Himeko's hand slid across her waist. As her fingertips brushed against Himeko's skin, they sent a strange tingling sensation through her body.

Himeko didn't pull away.

Instead, she simply lay there, allowing Murata Himeko to hold her tightly.

Beside her ear, Murata Himeko's breathing gradually grew warmer.

It was not yet over.

Whether intentional or not, as Murata Himeko’s hand slid to Himeko's waist, it crept upward, sliding beneath the hem of Himeko’s pajamas.

After a fleeting moment of hesitation, Himeko turned, pressing her body against Murata Himeko’s, allowing her to hold her tighter. She wrapped her own arms around her counterpart in a tender embrace.

As the night deepened, the duvet slipped to the foot of the bed, and one by one, garments were discarded.

Perhaps Murata Himeko was truly befuddled by the alcohol, her mind hazy. But Himeko was different. She wasn't about to let a feast served on a silver platter go to waste.

When sunlight finally crept through the window and touched their faces, Murata Himeko’s eyelashes fluttered. As she opened her eyes, she was struck by the realization that she was naked, clinging tightly to Himeko, who was equally unclothed.

Her face flushed a deep, panicked red. "What... what happened last night?" She sat up, clutching her head in pain.

Fragments of memory returned like a tidal wave, reminding her of exactly what she had been doing in her drunken stupor.

"Awake?" Himeko was already awake, watching her counterpart with a gentle, amused smile.

"I... I'm so sorry." Murata Himeko’s voice was dry, her eyes filled with thick guilt and disorientation.

"It’s fine. I don't mind at all."

Himeko shook her head, but her gentle, forgiving demeanor only made Murata Himeko feel even more ashamed. Himeko saw it all clearly. In a drunken state, having intimate, indescribable relations with another version of oneself... anyone would find that hard to accept.

In that case... I should give her a little encouragement.

Himeko didn't hesitate to reach out and pull Murata Himeko into an embrace from behind. Skin-to-skin contact, the warmth radiating between them—Murata Himeko gasped, stunned.

"Don't feel guilty. You and I are one and the same." Himeko pressed close, the tactile sensation causing Murata Himeko’s face to burn even brighter.

"B-but..." Murata Himeko began to stutter. Usually bold and dashing, she was now as shy as a novice girl.

"There are no 'buts'." Himeko had firmly taken the initiative. Her hand began to climb, and Murata Himeko’s body stiffened, then began to soften.

"Wait..."

"Nope. Naughty children get punished by their big sister."

As Himeko’s playful whisper brushed against her ear, Murata Himeko’s consciousness began to drift away once more.

Some time later, a loud, rhythmic knocking echoed at the door.

"Himeko—time to get up! Breakfast is ready!"

At the sound of the voice, Murata Himeko scrambled off Himeko’s body, frantically searching for her clothes. "Mmm..." Himeko let out a soft, unsatisfied hum, sitting up in bed. Her long red hair cascaded down, draping over her snow-white skin.

"We... we should get dressed quickly." Murata Himeko was blushing furiously.

"Agreed." Himeko watched her, smiling, and began putting on her own clothes. She called out toward the door: "Understood, Kiana! We're up!"

We.

Murata Himeko froze, feeling both flustered and shy.

"Okay~ got it!" Thankfully, Kiana—who clearly assumed Murata Himeko had just gotten drunk with Himeko again and crashed in her room—didn't suspect a thing.

As the footsteps outside faded away, Murata Himeko finally let out a sigh of relief.

"Don't worry." Himeko walked up behind her, barefoot, and wrapped her arms around her. She leaned in, her lips grazing the delicate skin of her earlobe. "They won't find out."

Whether it was the heat of her breath or the weight of her words, Murata Himeko’s ears flushed a deep, tempting crimson.

After gently embracing Murata Himeko, she let go and took a step back.

Watching Murata Himeko’s ears flush a vibrant red, a smile blossomed on her lips—one filled with a blend of gentleness and a mischievous hint of delight.

Heh-heh-heh.

Himeko chuckled inwardly, feeling quite satisfied.

She turned and walked past Murata Himeko, opening the door to step out into the hallway. Just as she took her first step away, she glanced back over her shoulder at the woman still standing in the room.

With a soft, caring smile, she said, "Come along now. You should wash up; it’s time for breakfast."

Her tone was so solicitous it was almost as if she were tending to a child.

This left Murata Himeko feeling a bit indignant.

Besides... Murata Himeko wasn't exactly the type to endure such teasing indefinitely.

"Hmph..." Murata Himeko let out a light laugh. Watching the retreating back of the other Himeko, her eyes flashed with a flicker of resolve.

Just wait until tonight... I’ll definitely turn the tables.

Since they had already crossed that line, she might as well embrace what was to come.

At that moment, any lingering desire the woman had to "find a good man" had completely vanished from her mind.

By the time the other Himeko finished washing up and sat down at the table for breakfast, she noticed Theresa looking like she was desperately trying to contain herself—her expression a mix of bubbling excitement and intense anticipation. Himeko couldn't help but feel a little perplexed.

What’s got into Theresa? She looks exactly like I did yesterday when I was hiding by myself, plotting how to get Mei and the others to cuddle with me.

Is she feeling lonely, too?

Himeko almost laughed out loud at the thought.

"Ahem!" As everyone gathered around the table, Theresa gave a few forced coughs, trying her best to put on a dignified air as she looked at Kiana and the others.

However, the corners of her mouth twitching upward and that look of utter "wisdom" in her eyes made her seem entirely devoid of authority.

How cute.

Watching Theresa, Himeko felt a wave of sentimentality; everyone seemed particularly spirited today. She couldn't help but hope, deep down, that she might one day become someone who could cuddle with Theresa.

Still, no matter how I look at it, that seems highly unlikely.

"Kiana, Mei, Bronya~" Theresa called out their names one by one.

"What is it, Auntie?"

Kiana had just stuffed a golden fried egg into her mouth and looked at Theresa, chewing with a puzzled expression.

"It’s like this," Theresa said, the corner of her mouth curling into a proud, triumphant smirk. "The gifts I told you all about? They’re finally ready!"

"Wait, really?!"

Kiana jumped up, instantly electrified.

Hearing this, Himeko finally understood why Theresa had been acting that way earlier. So, their base Valkyrie armors had arrived.

"Finish your breakfast, and I’ll take you to see them!"

As soon as Theresa finished her sentence, Kiana cheered. Mei and Bronya exchanged glances, their expressions also betraying a hint of anticipation.

"Also... ahem, Himeko," Theresa turned to look at her. She wasn't quite sure how to address her properly, given there were two of them. So, she just met her gaze directly. "You should come with us later, too."

Theresa looked a little bashful. "I have something I’d like to ask for your help with..."

"Of course, no problem," Himeko said, placing her first cup of morning coffee on the table. She nodded gently, her expression remaining serene. "Could you tell me what it is, though? So I can be prepared."

"Well..." Theresa began a rambling explanation about the Xuanyuan Swords that had been "printed" back when Himeko was still using the Silver Wolf persona.

The R&D department had discovered through their databases that the Divine Keys forged from the core of the Herrscher of Domination by the previous civilization could resonate with the user's will and change forms.

Although these printed Xuanyuan Swords lacked a Herrscher core, they possessed similar resonance characteristics.

The problem was that the scientists were at a loss on how to trigger that resonance. They hadn't managed to "archaeologically" excavate the secret yet.

The only known cases were Xuanyuan and the others—who possessed natural Stigmata—successfully wielding the blades, though the swords themselves never changed form for them.

Thus, Theresa had pinned her hopes on Himeko to crack the secret.

"Soulium weapons, huh?" Himeko’s eyes lit up with genuine interest. "Very well. Take me to see them later."

"Yes!" Theresa beamed.

Everyone quickly finished breakfast, as everyone—save for Kiana and Himeko—was curious about the gifts.

"Let’s go, let's go~!" Kiana was the first to bolt out the door, waving enthusiastically at Himeko and the others, urging them to hurry. She then hurried over to Theresa's side. "Auntie, just tell us what the gift is already!"

"No way~" Theresa didn't even look back, her mouth held in a confident smirk. "You’ll see when we get there."

In the crowd, Murata Himeko subconsciously slowed her pace, falling in step beside the other Himeko. After the events of last night and this morning, her attitude toward Himeko had become incredibly intimate. It was as if they had gone from being drinking buddies to sisters.

"Let's have a drink again tonight," Murata Himeko said casually, as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened.

"Sure." Himeko nodded slightly, her smile still as gentle as ever. Their eyes met, and deep within their golden irises, unspoken emotions simmered.

Nearby, Fu Hua caught wind of this and couldn't help but look both helpless and serious.

She stepped toward Himeko and said, "Major Himeko, and... Instructor Himeko, I must remind you both that excessive drinking can impact your health."

"Mm, I know. Thank you, Fu Hua," Himeko said with a soft nod, appearing as though she had taken the advice to heart.

"Fu Hua," Murata Himeko chuckled, "It’s just a little bit of wine, it’s fine. Don't worry, we won't drink too much. We still have training every day, after all."

"I see." Fu Hua nodded, her expression relaxing.

Himeko watched Fu Hua for a moment, a thought crossing her mind, but it was quickly extinguished.

Seriously, have I become that much of a rascal? Himeko sighed inwardly.

Fu Hua viewed Himeko only as a mentor and a close friend, whether it was the Himeko of the Previous Era or the current Murata Himeko. There was absolutely no romantic intent there.

Perhaps the only way to win over Fu Hua would be to transform into Kiana or Senti.

After all, in the manga, Fu Hua had once shown an affinity for Kiana under a friend's persuasion, and Senti was well aware of Fu Hua’s complicated feelings toward Kiana—a perfect entry point.

Wait, no! Himeko felt a headache coming on. Why do I keep thinking about how to win over Valkyries?

"Alright, we’re here!" Theresa came to a halt in front of the R&D department gates.

"Auntie, the gifts are in here?" Kiana looked up at the building, her eyes brimming with curiosity. "Don't tell me! Are you giving us those Soulium weapons?"

Kiana had been coveting those Soulium weapons ever since Silver Wolf had printed them. She had tried to swipe one from Theresa countless times, but never succeeded.

"Wrong guess~" Theresa turned to look at Kiana with a mischievous smile.

Not entirely wrong, though, Himeko thought with amusement. Theresa bringing her along was clearly meant to see if Kiana and the others could resonate with the Soulium weapons.

"Then what is it?"

To Kiana’s confusion, Theresa simply turned and headed inside. Himeko followed, moving toward the core of the R&D facility.

They soon arrived at a laboratory. Standing against the wall were three transparent display cases, each holding a set of Valkyrie armor.

As I thought.

Himeko glanced at the three sets of armor, particularly the "White Comet."

She remembered when she was a newbie, someone had teased her into maxing out White Comet, claiming it would automatically evolve into the Herrscher of the End or the Herrscher of the Void.

Thankfully, she was too broke at the time to fall for it.

"White Comet!!!" Kiana’s eyes lit up the moment she saw the armor, but then they dimmed. She thought of the "real" Kiana. Even though she didn't know the girl’s current state, she knew she must be incredibly lonely.

"Kiana..." Mei didn't immediately fixate on her own Crimson Impulse armor; she looked at Kiana. Seeing the sadness, she stepped forward to quietly comfort her.

But at the same time, Mei’s gaze drifted to the White Comet armor—pristine and smooth, unlike the battle-scarred version she’d first seen on the real Kiana. A wave of sorrow washed over her.

Bronya stood silently on the side, watching for a while before looking at Mei and Kiana with worry. The sight of the armor brought back memories of the real Kiana, dampening the mood for everyone.

Theresa, who had been so full of anticipation, noticed the shift and her smile vanished.

Ah, this is what I was here to watch! Himeko mused internally, barely suppressing a laugh.

"I’m fine," Kiana said, quickly gathering her emotions.

She looked at the White Comet in the display case, her eyes hardening with resolve. She turned to Theresa with a calm, steady smile. "Theresa, can I wear it now?"

"..."

Theresa met Kiana's gaze. Seeing that smile—which seemed to carry a shadow of Cecilia—she paused, then nodded solemnly. "It was meant to be given to you after the Valkyrie exams, but... I think you’ve already earned the right to wear these."

"Heh." Kiana smiled, reverting to her usual goofy, energetic self, as if the reliable side she had just shown were merely a fleeting illusion.

Uh-oh. Himeko watched her, her mind racing. Kiana had been swinging between "brilliant" and "ditzy" lately.

It seemed fine on the surface, but if you really thought about it... Is Kiana turning into the 'Honkai Impact 2' version of Kiana who is actually super smart but pretends to be a ditz? Did I push her too hard during this period? Himeko felt a bit distressed.

Kiana and the others began changing into the armors. They were custom-fitted, so there were no sizing issues.

"Once you can master these, you’ll be official B-rank Valkyries," Murata Himeko said with a gentle, encouraging look.

Once they came out, Himeko watched the trio, now looking exactly as they did in the game. Her gaze softened.

Kiana and the others are really becoming Valkyries... time really flies. As a witness to all of this, Himeko felt a sudden, inexplicable surge of emotion.

But next... Himeko recalled the game's timeline. It was late April 2016. Though much had changed due to her involvement, the general timeline remained.

In two more years, September 2016, the Fourth Honkai Eruption would begin.

I need to find an opportunity before then—or the right character to transform into—to fish Wendy out of the New Zealand branch. See if I can get her on the side of humanity. At the very least, I can't let that brat Cocolia cause any more trouble.

"It fits perfectly!" Kiana’s excited voice broke Himeko’s train of thought.

Himeko looked up to see Kiana excitedly inspecting the tight-fitting White Comet armor.

"I feel... this armor really suits me," Mei nodded in satisfaction, a bright, beautiful smile on her face.

Bronya floated in the air, spinning slightly. Her demeanor was elegant, quite unlike the overly mature look Kiana tended to affect.

"Himeko," Himeko turned to look at the woman beside her.

"Yes?"

"What did it feel like when you first wore the armor?"

Himeko looked at Murata Himeko with genuine curiosity. In reality, she was thinking of a specific moment from the manga—the first time Murata Himeko wore the Scarlet Fusion and the mechanical arm clicked into place.

The way she had looked then was... memorable. Himeko had to stop herself from drooling.

Murata Himeko paused, a suspicious blush coloring her cheeks. She clearly remembered that feeling, too. She didn't voice it, however, instead looking back into the distant past.

She smiled slightly and said, "My body felt stronger, lighter. I was excited, thinking I had become more powerful."

She paused, shaking her head slightly, her voice dropping lower. "Only later did I realize... it meant carrying a much heavier burden."

Himeko couldn't help but blurt out a classic line: "With great power, comes great responsibility?"

"Hm?" Murata Himeko looked over, surprised.

Himeko felt a bit guilty. She felt like saying this to Murata Himeko was a bit "hellish," considering her father’s death and the fact that Peter Parker in some other universe had lost his uncle, too.

Luckily, Murata Himeko didn't get the reference. She simply nodded in agreement. "Indeed. With great power, comes great responsibility."

Kiana and the others were already adapting to their armor. Theresa walked over to Himeko, looking expectant. "Himeko, would you mind helping us look at those Soulium weapons now?"

"Certainly."

Himeko nodded and headed toward another lab with Theresa, the group following in a bustling crowd.

Entering a larger laboratory, Himeko saw a ring of golden Xuanyuan Swords floating in the center of the room. She raised an eyebrow.

The swords were surrounded by instruments scrolling through dense data, operated by a group of scientists with dark circles under their eyes who looked like they were on the verge of going bald.

"Principal."

The lead scientist walked over as Theresa arrived. "Research progress is still at zero. I’m sorry... we cannot parse the information in these Soulium weapons to make them change form."

"I see." Theresa nodded, then gestured toward Himeko. "I brought you some help. She’ll definitely be able to help you crack the code!"

"Hello, Miss Himeko, wait—?"

The lead scientist looked over, then her brain seemed to short-circuit as she saw Himeko—and the Murata Himeko standing next to her. Her gaze darted between the two.

"Am I sleep-deprived? Am I hallucinating?" the lead scientist groaned, clutching her head. Himeko noticed a few golden hairs drift down from between the woman's fingers.

How desperate.

Himeko suppressed a laugh and introduced herself in a soft voice. "Hello, I am Himeko. You aren't hallucinating."

"Eh?!!"

After the lead scientist finally accepted that the person who looked exactly like Murata Himeko was not a hallucination, she led them to the swords.

"As you can see," she said with a tone of despair, "none of our detection equipment can read these swords. They’re like stone. They don't react to anything, let alone change according to the user's will."

Previous Era technology. Interesting, right? Himeko remembered from the manga that when Fu Hua was not yet a MANTIS Soldier, she and her squad were treated as test subjects in an advanced zone after being injected with the super-transformation factor.

Then they encountered an Emperor-class Honkai beast. Five died; only Hua survived.

At the moment of her death, she thought of her mentor, activating the super-transformation factor in her body, which caused the Xuanyuan Sword to transform into the Grips of Tai Xuan, allowing her to slay the beast.

So, these scientists had already done their best.

The Xuanyuan Sword could only change form for those with Stigmata or those who had awakened the super-transformation factor to become MANTIS Soldiers. Otherwise, it was just a sharp blade.

To change it, short of natural Stigmata, one needed the super-transformation factor—which was only available in World Serpent.

One would have to enter the Elysian Realm, find Mobius, and risk life and limb to be transformed into a MANTIS Soldier.

As for Stigmata... Himeko’s gaze swept over Kiana and the others.

Kiana was from the Kaslana family, and their lineage contained a variant similar to the super-transformation factor; every member of the Kaslana family was essentially a low-spec MANTIS Soldier. So, Kiana could absolutely dominate a Divine Key.

Raiden Mei was a natural Stigmata awakener, so making the Soulium weapon shift to her will would be simple.

Only Bronya... she had neither Stigmata nor super-transformation factors, but she had undergone the X-10 experiment in Anti-Entropy, allowing her to use Valkyrie armors powered by Honkai energy.

Himeko walked over to the nearest instrument and studied the data on the screen for a while. Everyone gathered around curiously.

"Interesting..." Himeko murmured, a corner of her mouth curling upward.

"What is it?" Theresa leaned in, tiptoeing so she could see the screen over the edge of the instrument.

Himeko reached out and tapped a few keys, and the screen transitioned from a data stream to a 3D structural map. "Look, the structure of these Soulium weapons is indeed changing."

Himeko spouted a string of technical jargon that would have been complete gibberish to anyone else. Theresa’s expression grew increasingly blank, but the scientists and Bronya’s eyes lit up. Himeko explained her findings, finally reaching a conclusion.

"These Soulium weapons are not inanimate. They undergo regular, microscopic changes. I believe... they require a specific catalyst to trigger a transformation. And that catalyst may lie within the user."

Turning around, Himeko swept her gaze over the crowd, eventually landing on Raiden Mei.

"Me?" Mei asked, pointing to herself with a confused look.

"Yes, you." Seeing Mei’s expression, Himeko recalled a meme from before she transmigrated, and she smirked as she beckoned her forward.

"What should I do?" Mei asked as she approached.

"Simple." Himeko turned back to the floating swords, disengaged the restraint, and one of the Xuanyuan Swords drifted down. "Pick her up, Mei," Himeko said softly.

Mei nodded and took the sword into her hand.

"I believe," Himeko said to the group, "that the catalyst might be those hidden among humanity who possess what you call Stigmata power."

"Stigmata..." Theresa suddenly remembered something. "Right! Xuanyuan said that she could use the Xuanyuan Sword because she had awakened Stigmata!"

"Exactly." Himeko smiled gently. "Even though these were printed by Silver Wolf, the internal technology remains the same as the previous civilization’s."

"If that’s the case," Theresa looked at Mei, her eyes bright with excitement. "Mei has Stigmata!"

"Indeed." Himeko nodded toward Mei. "Mei, try to sense the weapon in your hand, then... inject your power—your Honkai energy—into it."

Mei nodded and directed her Honkai energy into the sword.

The moment the energy poured in, the change began. A golden light engulfed the blade. The surrounding scientists held their breath, their eyes wide with exhilaration.

It’s starting... Himeko stared at Mei, curious to see what the final form of the weapon would be.

Soon, the light dissipated, revealing a weapon Himeko knew all too well: the Key of Castigation, before it became the Domain of Sanction. It seemed Mei’s internal Herrscher core had influenced the sword.

"It really changed form!" Theresa’s jaw dropped.

"It seems my judgment was correct," Himeko smiled, watching Mei stare blankly at the katana in her hand. "Mei, I think this weapon belongs to you now."

"Can... can I really keep it?" Mei asked, looking up at Himeko, unsure.

Himeko nodded. "Yes. Unlike the real Divine Keys in your database, this one doesn't have a Herrscher core acting as a power source... though I suspect you might be an exception."

Though she didn't spell it out, Theresa and Mei understood exactly what she meant. Mei was a Stigmata awakener and a Herrscher. They hadn't hidden Mei's identity from Himeko, and Himeko had feigned ignorance of Honkai just a few days prior.

"Since that’s the case, this... Divine Key belongs to you, Mei," Theresa said with a small smile.

"Thank you, Principal." Mei didn't stand on ceremony; she took a deep breath, nodded, and held the sword with a joyful smile.

"So cool~" Kiana drooled at the sight, then turned to Himeko with excitement. "What about me? Me! Himeko, can I have one too?!"

"Hmm." Himeko nodded again, though Theresa looked skeptical.

"Himeko, does Kiana have Stigmata?"

"No." Himeko shook her head. Actually, she does, it’s just not awakened. If she awakened it, she’d see the Stigmata-will version of Kevin.

"It’s just that I’ve learned the Kaslana bloodline is quite unique." Himeko tapped the screen, pulling up research on the Kaslana lineage.

"I suspect the Kaslana bloodline is connected to the previous civilization."

"Really?" Theresa leaned in, curious.

"Yes." Himeko nodded with a serious expression, then looked at Kiana. "Kiana, go and pick a Divine Key."

"Okay!" Kiana excitedly ran toward a sword. As it descended, she took it in hand and injected her Honkai energy. The sword glowed faintly, a layer of golden brilliance coating the blade, but it didn't change form.

"Eh? Why didn't it change?" Kiana asked, puzzled.

"Because it lacks that catalyst," Himeko said, looking at the shifting data on the screen. "However, you have the qualification to wield it. To make it change, I fear you need a shift we don't yet understand."

"Aw..." Kiana looked dejected, about to put the sword back.

"However," Himeko turned her eyes from the screen to Theresa, a determined smile on her face. "Since there was indeed a change in your hands, Kiana... why not let Kiana hold onto this sword?"

"Eh?" Theresa looked up, her small face clouded with hesitation.

"You’ve been studying these Soulium weapons, haven't you?" Himeko crossed her arms, standing by the console. "Rather than letting it sit in the lab waiting for a result that might never come, let Kiana carry it. The data you get from her using it in the field will be far more useful than any laboratory simulation."

Theresa opened her mouth, tempted, but still hesitant.

"Besides..." Himeko glanced at Kiana, then Bronya. "These were printed by Silver Wolf. I suspect... Silver Wolf intended for these to be used by you, the people she knew."

"Hmm." Theresa made up her mind. "If that’s the case... Kiana, take this Xuanyuan Sword."

"Yay!!!" Kiana cheered.

Theresa’s expression instantly turned dangerous. "But Kiana, if you dare to lose it, or go around showing it off at school... don't say I didn't warn you."

"Of course not! I... I wouldn't go around showing it off!" Kiana swore, though she felt guilty in the second half of her sentence. Himeko couldn't help but laugh.

Looking at the scientists who looked like they wanted to speak but were holding back, Himeko could guess what they were thinking.

Giving a student who hadn't passed her Valkyrie exams a Divine Key? Even if it didn't have a Herrscher core, everyone would think the Principal was playing favorites.

Theresa likely knew this, but her silence proved she was ready to bear the pressure.

"Everyone," Himeko turned to the scientists with a serious expression. "I will act as an observer, responsible for recording the data generated when Kiana uses the sword. That data will be shared with you."

"Yes!!"

"We're counting on you!"

In an instant, the hesitation and dissatisfaction in the scientists' eyes transformed into excitement and fanaticism. Himeko’s display earlier had already left them in awe.

They had struggled with the Divine Keys for ages, yet Himeko had made one change in an instant.

Problem solved.

Himeko smiled at Theresa, who returned it with a look of gratitude.

"What about Bronya, Himeko... Instructor Himeko, Fu Hua, and Yae Sakura?" Theresa asked, looking expectant again.

Himeko shook her head helplessly. "Yae Sakura is a pseudo-Herrscher; she has a weapon similar to the Xuanyuan Sword, so she doesn't need it."

"Hmm," Yae Sakura nodded calmly. "My Sakura Blossom... is my best weapon."

"As for..." Himeko turned to Murata Himeko and Fu Hua. One lacked natural Stigmata and special bloodlines; the other was a master of acting "weak."

"They may not be able to use these, but they should still try." Himeko had them and Bronya try. Nothing happened.

As expected, Fu Hua is still playing the part.

"It seems I have no affinity for the Xuanyuan Sword," Murata Himeko said, though she felt no regret.

In the storage room, there were swords inhabited by the consciousnesses of Ji Xuanyuan and the others; if she needed one, she could take it, and they would work with her like sword spirits.

"Same here," Fu Hua said, her expression calm as she released the blade and adjusted her glasses.

Keep acting, Fu Hua. Himeko sighed inwardly, then turned to Bronya.

"Bronya has no Stigmata, nor does she have the blood of the Kaslana or Schariac families," Bronya said calmly. "Besides, Project Bunny is enough for Bronya." Behind her, the massive silhouette of Project Bunny flickered and vanished.

"Mm," Himeko nodded. She couldn't think of a way for Bronya to use these either. Even if Bronya could activate one, would she really take a sword taller than herself to slash Honkai beasts?

Perhaps once Bronya became a Herrscher, she could use them, but by then, the swords would be obsolete to her.

After integrating the data with the scientists, Himeko returned to the dorms with Kiana and the others.

"Woo-hoo!" Kiana was still clutching the Xuanyuan Sword like a child with a new toy. "Heh-heh, I need to name it... what should I call it?"

After thinking for a while, Kiana held the sword high, looking at the golden patterns shimmering in the light. She smiled solemnly. "I’ll call it! The White Comet Sword!!"

"..." Himeko’s mouth twitched, and a few black lines appeared on her forehead. "The taste of the youth... truly is peculiar."

"What’s wrong~" Kiana hugged the sword, indignant. "My armor is called White Comet, so of course my sword is called White Comet. It’s a set, how perfect!"

Himeko had no retort.

"What about yours, Mei?" Himeko turned to her. "Did you name it?"

"Yes." Mei nodded, looking down at the katana hanging at her waist. She reached out and touched it. "I’ve decided to call it… Castigation."

As expected, just like the game, missing the last two characters.

(T/N: Mei calls this 天殛, while the name of the weapon in the game is the Key of Castigation, 天殛之钥)

"What does Castigation mean?" Kiana asked, confused.

"It means judgment from the heavens," Mei said with a soft smile. "The punishment of lightning."

"So chuunibyou," Kiana couldn't help but retort, immediately followed by Bronya’s ruthless jab: "But it sounds much better than Kiana’s White Comet Sword."

"What's wrong with my White Comet Sword?!"

Nighttime.

Himeko returned to her room, took a shower, and changed into a clean pair of pajamas. She gave a slight stretch, waiting for Murata Himeko’s invitation.

Just a moment later, her phone chimed.

[Murata Himeko: Come to my room. We’re drinking until we drop tonight.]

After reading the message, the corner of Himeko’s mouth curled into a delighted smile.

Looks like Murata Himeko wants to go all out tonight.

Fair enough.

Himeko stood up and headed for the door. Just as she stepped out into the hallway, she ran straight into Fu Hua, who was dressed in simple white pajamas.

“Himeko.” Fu Hua glanced at her, her azure eyes filled with confusion. “It’s so late. Are you going out?”

“Not really.” Himeko shook her head gently and held up her phone to show Fu Hua the chat interface. “I’m going to have a drink with her.”

“……” Fu Hua fell silent, a look of disapproval crossing her face.

“Himeko-sensei... I hope you don’t let Major Himeko influence you. Excessive drinking will take a toll on both your health and the Major’s.”

“Hmm... I know.” Under Fu Hua’s stern, earnest gaze, Himeko inexplicably felt a strange sense of pressure.

It was just like when she was back in school—still trying to copy a classmate’s homework while the class representative stood right next to her desk, clutching a thick pile of assignments.

“I won’t drink too much.”

She tried to argue her case: “I’m just drinking with her... and maybe moon-gazing?”

“Tonight... it’s overcast. You probably won't be able to see the moon,” Fu Hua said with a helpless sigh.

Just as Himeko thought the plans might be ruined, Fu Hua sighed softly, adjusted her glasses, and said: “Himeko-sensei, since that is the case... later on, I shall join you both for a drink.”

Huh?

You’re coming to join the…

No, never mind.

Himeko quickly killed the thought, looked at Fu Hua, pondered for a moment, and nodded.

“Alright.”

So, the two of them walked together toward Murata Himeko’s room. After Himeko knocked on the door, Murata Himeko’s voice drifted from within.

“Come in.”

As the door swung open, Himeko saw Murata Himeko sitting in a chair by the window, holding a glass of wine. Her golden eyes shimmered like molten gold under the lamplight.

There were bottles of alcohol scattered across the windowsill, the table, and even the nightstand.

It seemed Murata Himeko had decided to go big tonight.

Himeko couldn't help but feel a twinge of annoyance.

Fu Hua really ruined my fun.

“Fu Hua?”

Seeing Fu Hua walk in behind Himeko, Murata Himeko’s eyes widened with surprise and confusion.

“Major Himeko.” Fu Hua stepped forward, glanced at the bottles of fine wine, and looked at Murata Himeko with a stern expression.

“We have training tomorrow.”

“I know.” Murata Himeko turned away silently, trying to pretend she didn’t see Fu Hua.

“Just a little bit.”

“……”

Fu Hua didn’t respond, just looked at the room full of booze and sighed, “You always say ‘a little bit,’ but you always end up drinking far too much.”

Himeko curled her lips, finding the scene quite amusing.

A student keeping her teacher in check~

“So, this time, Fu Hua decided to join us to make sure we don’t overdo it,” Himeko stepped forward, walked over to Murata Himeko’s side, and said softly.

“Join us?”

Hearing this, Murata Himeko turned her head with a bewildered expression.

“Yes.” Fu Hua nodded, though her demeanor seemed a bit unnatural.

“I don’t have much of a tolerance for alcohol, so... I probably won’t drink too much.”

“Fine.” Murata Himeko looked at Himeko, offered a resigned smile, and pulled out a chair.

The three of them sat by the window.

Himeko grabbed a glass, poured a drink, and pushed it toward Fu Hua. “Give it a try. If it’s your first time, it might be a bit harsh, so take it slow.”

“Alright.” Fu Hua picked up the glass and took a sip.

The strong, biting taste made her brow furrow instinctively.

Of course, it wasn’t her first time drinking, but she rarely touched the stuff.

After another sip, the glass was already half empty.

“Major Himeko.” Fu Hua looked at Murata Himeko, a faint blush rapidly spreading across her cheeks, though her azure eyes remained clear.

“The Valkyrie assessments are coming up soon, and Kiana and the others are still training. You should be spending more time with them.”

Hitting the limit already?

Himeko watched Fu Hua with some surprise.

“They just received their equipment and weapons today; they need time to adapt,” Murata Himeko said, taking a sip from her own glass. “Tonight... let her focus on adjusting.”

“But...”

“Fu Hua.” Himeko cut her off, looking at her with a gentle voice: “You’re too tense. Just relax.”

Fu Hua looked at Himeko, paused, and then gave a gentle nod.

Himeko refilled her glass.

Fu Hua sat quietly.

The three began to chat, glass after glass disappearing down their throats.

Fu Hua’s once-rational gaze began to grow hazy.

Himeko and Murata Himeko both had flushed cheeks, yet they continued to talk and laugh, their voices still steady.

In the end, Fu Hua remained in that hazy, seemingly intoxicated state.

Himeko felt incredibly helpless.

She knew she wouldn't be able to get the better of a sly veteran like Fu Hua.

Moreover, Murata Himeko was already drunk, her face flushed from her neck to her earlobes, swaying unsteadily.

“Ugh...”

Left with no choice, Himeko decided to feign intoxication, her eyes turning blurry and unfocused.

“Himeko-sensei, Major Himeko, you’re both drunk.” Fu Hua’s eyes suddenly cleared up, and she looked at them. “It’s time for you both to rest.”

“Hic... No, I’m not drunk yet...” Murata Himeko shook her head, stubborn to the end.

“Mmm... yeah... it’s probably time to call it a night.”

Himeko set down her glass, her voice slightly slurred.

Fu Hua looked at Himeko and Murata Himeko, letting out a soft sigh.

She rose and helped Murata Himeko to the bed. After tucking her in, she turned to Himeko. “Himeko-sensei, please wait a moment. I’ll take you back to your room shortly.”

No, you don’t have to worry about me, you could just leave me here, Himeko thought helplessly.

She watched as Fu Hua meticulously cleaned up, moving the empty bottles out of the room until every last bit of the mess was cleared. Finally, after Himeko finished the last drop in her glass, Fu Hua came over to support her.

“Himeko-sensei... you’ve had too much.”

“It’s... fine, I’m still clear-headed.”

Listening to Himeko, Fu Hua wore a look of resignation and nodded gently.

“Yes, I understand. Please, follow me.” Supporting Himeko, she walked step by step toward the door.

Once they were in the hallway, after closing Murata Himeko’s door and heading toward Himeko’s room, Himeko turned her head. Her eyes, glistening and flushed from the alcohol, gazed at Fu Hua with a soft, hazy smile.

“Fu Hua... you really care a lot about... Major Himeko, hic.”

“Because Major Himeko is my teacher,” Fu Hua replied calmly and earnestly. She opened the door to Himeko’s room and helped her inside.

As she was being guided in, Himeko continued to smile softly: “Do you... really... only think of her as your teacher?”

“……”

Fu Hua’s movements faltered, a hint of confusion surfacing in her eyes.

Truth be told... she wasn’t even sure herself.

She had forgotten too much about the Previous Era, including Himeko.

“I... I am just...” Fu Hua’s voice became somewhat strained.

“Just... what?” Himeko’s mouth curled, her golden eyes fixed on Fu Hua with a gentle, insightful gaze—though occasionally flickering with the haze of intoxication.

She was led to the side of the bed and sat down.

“I don’t know.”

Fu Hua looked at Himeko sitting on the edge of the bed and shook her head slowly.

“Phew...” Himeko took a deep breath, her eyes growing increasingly blurred. The fullness of her chest strained against her collar, and between the buttons, a small patch of skin flushed pink from the wine was visible.

Fu Hua shifted her gaze away, her voice strained again: “Himeko-sensei, you’ve had too much to drink. Get some rest.”

Interesting~

A playful impulse stirred in Himeko’s heart.

“Mmm...” Himeko nodded groggily and leaned back against the headboard. Her body slowly slid down, and after taking a few deep, ragged breaths filled with the scent of alcohol, she fell asleep.

“Himeko-sensei?”

Fu Hua looked on, stunned.

She hadn't expected Himeko to just drop off like that.

Himeko’s clothes should be changed, and at the very least, her face needed a wipe with a warm cloth.

That was exactly what she had done with Murata Himeko before she drifted off.

“……” Fu Hua felt a bit helpless, but looking at Himeko, she accepted her fate and stepped forward.

She looked at the sleeping Himeko, hesitated for a moment, and said softly, “Forgive me, Himeko-sensei, let me change your clothes.”

She reached out, but when her fingertips touched Himeko’s collarbone, Himeko’s brow twitched slightly.

“Himeko-sensei?”

“……”

Himeko didn't wake up.

Looking at her like this, Fu Hua sighed, bent down, and began to undo the buttons. As her fingers touched the first button, she couldn't help but recall what Himeko had said earlier.

“Do you... really... only think of her as your teacher?”

Yes, why did she care so much about Murata Himeko?

Fu Hua didn’t understand, but deep down, she held an inexplicable sense of respect and concern for both Murata Himeko and the Himeko before her.

The first button came undone, and the collar parted, revealing more of that flushed skin, creating a delicate, ambiguous atmosphere in the dim light.

Fu Hua didn’t look, keeping her eyes fixed elsewhere as she moved to the second button.

The third...

She had reached the fullest part.

Fu Hua’s fingertips sank slightly into the softness beneath the pajamas, causing her to pause for a heartbeat.

A moment later, she continued with the fourth. With every button she undid, she replayed Himeko’s question in her mind, her heart racing a little faster each time.

Himeko wasn’t wearing an undergarment underneath...

The pajamas were already damp from the light sweat brought on by the alcohol. A faint, bitter scent of coffee mingled with Himeko’s natural fragrance and the sharp smell of vodka, enveloping Fu Hua.

Fu Hua looked at the drunken Himeko—her flushed cheeks and peaceful, sleeping face.

As the question echoed in her mind again, her heart pounded even harder.

Inside the pajamas, the fullness was now exposed.

Fu Hua swept a glance over them and quickly looked away, her face turning even redder.

This time, it wasn’t from the alcohol, but from a surge of heat rising from within her body, as if something were burning deep inside.

Once the top was off, Fu Hua dressed Himeko in a fresh cotton pajama top, hiding the scenery from view.

Then, she buttoned it back up, one by one.

As she reached the curve of her chest, Fu Hua pulled the fabric from both sides, her palms lightly brushing over the top.

A strange sensation ghosted across her palms.

When that curve was finally covered again, Fu Hua froze for two seconds, then abruptly looked away, finishing the remaining buttons.

Himeko remained fast asleep, her breathing light and steady.

It was only then that Fu Hua remembered she had forgotten to wipe Himeko down.

She hesitated, but ultimately didn’t reach out. An inexplicable sense of loss welled up, making her heart rate quicken once more.

Finally, she pulled the quilt up to Himeko’s shoulders and tucked it in.

“Good night, Himeko-sensei...” Fu Hua’s voice was incredibly gentle, as if she feared that speaking any louder might wake her.

She turned, walked to the doorway, and slipped out, closing the door softly behind her.

In the darkness of the room, Himeko opened her eyes, the corner of her mouth curling up.

How pure, Fu Hua.

She had felt the slight pause in Fu Hua’s gaze.

It seems Fu Hua is indeed a conquerable target~

What a pity that there just wasn't enough time tonight.

Outside in the hallway, Fu Hua leaned against the wall, eyes closed, her hands still trembling. A moment later, she lifted her hand, palm up, and stared at it.

The sensation still lingered on her skin and fingertips.

Slick, soft, and hot.

Himeko’s words echoed in her ears again, intertwined with the vision of Himeko’s face and that exposed moment.

Fu Hua pressed her hand against her chest, where her heart was beating rapidly.

Yet, eventually, she simply whispered, “Just a teacher.”

Honkai Transformations - 104

--+--

“Boom!”

The massive frame of Ganesha crashed onto the training ground, its form instantly dissolving into countless tiny specks of light that drifted away into the surrounding air.

“Well done.”

Himeko stood in the control room, watching the three panting figures on the field. A look of immense satisfaction washed over her.

“It’s only your first day with the armor and new weapons, yet you’ve already taken down an Emperor-class Honkai beast. In that regard, you’re already ahead of the vast majority of people in this world.”

Down on the field, Kiana was on one knee, not far from where Ganesha’s head had rested, gasping for air. Her silver braided pigtails were soaked with sweat, strands sticking to her flushed cheeks as beads of perspiration tracked down her jawline before dripping onto the ground.

Himeko watched the scene, her gaze lingering thoughtfully on the White Comet armor Kiana wore.

The armor clung to her like a second skin. Every time Kiana moved, her soft curves shifted along with it, as if the suit offered no resistance at all.

So…

Is the inside of that armor completely soaked in sweat right now?

When Kiana finally peels that suit off, would water actually pour out of it?

Could that water be used to steep instant noodles?

Himeko’s thoughts drifted into mischievous territory.

“I’m exhausted…” Kiana panted, looking at the remains of the beast before slowly standing up, a look of pride and joy dawning on her face. “But! A mere Emperor-class Honkai beast… how could it possibly be a match for us!”

“Kiana, don't get too careless…” Mei, still catching her breath nearby, smiled helplessly at her. Her Castigation hung low, the tip pointing at the floor, with purple arcs of electricity still crackling faintly along the blade, not yet fully dissipated.

“Bronya rates this coordination a nine out of ten,” Bronya said, dropping down from mid-air with a cold, composed expression. “The point was docked because the idiot Kiana made unnecessary noise during the fight.”

“Hey! Who are you calling noisy!” Kiana’s hackles immediately rose. “I was just attracting the beast’s attention, okay!”

“Alright, alright.” Mei laughed softly, stepping in to stop the two from bickering further. “Instructor Himeko and the others are still watching us.”

As soon as she said this, the three of them looked up expectantly and proudly toward the control room.

“Well done, you’ve all made significant progress.” Himeko watched them, her lips curving into a smile of genuine satisfaction.

“Mm.” Murata Himeko nodded from the side, her eyes filled with a mixture of shock and complex emotions. “I honestly thought it would take you at least half a month to adapt to the armor’s performance, but I didn't expect…”

“Didn't expect we’d be this strong!” Kiana raised her right hand and coolly wiped her nose, looking utterly smug.

“Alright, that’s enough for today.” Himeko spoke firmly to the trio. “Go clean up, we’re heading home.”

“Eh? But I feel like we can still keep going~”

“Lunchtime is almost here, though. Sakura should have the meal ready at the dorms already. If we don’t head back now…”

Before Himeko could finish, Kiana was already scrambling.

“I-I’m coming out right now! Mei, Bronya, let’s go home and eat!”

Watching Kiana bolt toward the exit, Himeko smiled faintly. She was certain that once Welt arrived, he would absolutely be beaten to a pulp by Mei and the others.

Though… that gravity-control ability might be a bit tricky. Still, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Soon, Kiana and the others had shed their armor, leaving it behind to avoid lugging it back and forth.

They figured that if Welt did show up, they might not even have time to suit up anyway. At the very least, they kept their Soulium weapons on them.

“Going home to eat~” Kiana was as energetic and lively as ever.

Just looking at her put a soft warmth in Himeko’s chest. She loved seeing Kiana like this, and she hoped that until the very end, Kiana would remain just the same.

Unfortunately…

The one putting Kiana through the most trouble right now was herself.

“Sakura, we’re home~”

A rowdy group pushed open the dormitory door and walked in. Yae Sakura had just placed the final dish on the table. She turned to face them, offering a gentle smile.

“Go wash your hands and get ready to eat. Higokumaru and I have finished cooking.”

“Hehe~” Higokumaru fluttered around Sakura, her cute face beaming with excitement. “I was the one who washed all the vegetables for today’s dishes, you know!” Her voice went up an octave in pure joy.

Listening to her, Himeko walked to the table, glanced at the spread of delicious food, and scooped Higokumaru into her arms. She ruffled the girl’s hair, laughing warmly.

“Mmm~ then today’s meal is going to be absolutely delicious. Thank you, Higokumaru.”

“Uhh!” Being hugged so suddenly, Higokumaru’s face turned bright red. She was terribly shy, but even happier than before.

However… Yae Sakura, standing to the side, felt her own cheeks warm up. Because she shared a sensory link with Higokumaru, she could feel the sensation of Higokumaru’s face being pressed into Himeko’s chest just as clearly as if it were her own.

Himeko caught the look in the corner of her eye, and her smirk deepened.

A few moments later, Himeko washed her hands and joined the others at the table, chatting as they ate.

“Aunt Theresa! You have no idea how heavy the White Comet sword is,” Kiana complained. “If only it could turn into two handguns like that sword of Mei’s, that would be so much better.”

“Kiana.” Theresa’s forehead twitched with an annoyed vein. “If you don’t want it…”

“Eh?! I do, I do! Of course I do!”

Hearing them, Himeko chuckled and chimed in, “Kiana.”

“Yes?”

“I suspect… once your strength reaches a certain stage, or perhaps at a moment where your will is fully realized, this Xuanyuan Sword will be completely under your control and mimic the weapon best suited for you.”

“Really?!”

Hearing this, Kiana became instantly excited, her mouth even watering at the thought.

“If that’s true… hehe, I want two handguns exactly like the Shamash, and if they could combine into a sword too, that would be even better!”

“If that is truly what you desire most in your heart, then it just might be possible.” Himeko nodded with a gentle smile, though she paused to think before continuing.

“But I suspect it wouldn't be able to unleash a ‘Godslayer’ strike like the real Shamash.”

“Eh? Why not!”

“Because it isn't a true Divine Key. It lacks a Herrscher core to serve as its energy source.”

Even as she said this, Himeko secretly suspected that after Kiana eventually became a Herrscher, she might actually be able to pull off an attack that badass.

“Why would you even need a Godslayer strike?” Theresa’s expression turned serious. “The user simply can’t withstand that kind of attack. It’s better that it doesn't have it.”

“Mm.”

Seeing Theresa’s agitation, Himeko nodded helplessly. After all, a Godslayer strike is essentially a suicide mission. Kallen’s father died that way, and Siegfried was just lucky enough to survive it twice.

It was a good thing the Soulium weapons she printed lacked Herrscher cores, or Kiana might actually try to fire one off at some point.

As Himeko was secretly congratulating herself, she suddenly thought of something and turned her head sharply toward Bronya.

“Bronya.”

“Yes? What is it, Instructor Himeko?”

“I remember you said earlier that Travelers who come to this world cannot take anything with them when they leave, nor can they leave anything behind.”

“That is correct.” Bronya nodded.

Then, she caught sight of Kiana happily stuffing fried chicken legs into her mouth and Raiden Mei quietly sipping her soup. Bronya froze, her eyes widening slightly.

“Instructor Himeko…”

“It seems you’ve noticed, too.” Himeko took a deep breath and stared at Bronya, her gaze turning incredibly serious.

“But Silver Wolf left these printed Xuanyuan Swords behind.”

The moment she finished speaking, everyone at the table went quiet. Kiana was still mid-bite with her chicken leg; Theresa had a mouthful of bitter melon juice that she promptly spat onto the floor.

The others were just as shocked. Only Higokumaru looked around in confusion.

“Cough! Cough-cough!” Theresa coughed before looking at Himeko in disbelief. “Yes! How did we not think of that?!”

I didn't think of it either.

Himeko rubbed her head in annoyance and looked at Bronya. “Silver Wolf’s Aether Editing technology operates on the underlying logic of the universe to rewrite reality. Therefore, things created by her won't just vanish.”

“And it’s not just that…” Bronya began to think boldly, her face tense. “If Bronya uses Aether Editing technology the very moment you are about to leave this world, and wraps you in it, rewriting the reality around you…”

Wait, you can already do that? Himeko had a few mental question marks floating over her head. Bronya learns way too fast.

“No, Bronya.” Himeko shook her head gently, her gaze softening. “I need to return to my own world. There are people waiting for me there.”

When these words were spoken, everyone fell silent. Himeko was leaving tomorrow.

Over the past few days, she had cared for them with the gentleness of a mother, and no matter what problem arose, it seemed to resolve itself once Himeko arrived.

“Don’t be sad, children…” Himeko looked at them with gentle eyes, her voice soft. “Perhaps in the future, we will meet among the stars again.”

That is almost impossible, Himeko thought. She had no idea if she would ever be able to return to this role again… though, if she remembered correctly, Honkai Impact 3rd and Star Rail were in the same universe.

But even if Kiana and the others met the Star Rail Himeko later, it wouldn't be her.

“But for now,” Himeko turned to Bronya, her tone serious. “When I leave tomorrow, I will leave my suitcase behind. Bronya…”

“Yes, Bronya understands.” Bronya nodded solemnly. “Bronya will do her absolute best to use Aether Editing technology to preserve the suitcase.”

“Mm.”

A faint smile touched Himeko’s lips. She didn't know if it would actually work, but it was better than doing nothing at all.

Soon, evening arrived. Himeko was waiting quietly in her room, but it wasn't long before there was a knock at the door…

--+--

The final day.

As it had been, Himeko followed the others to Sapphire City for a shopping spree, visited the HOMU Theme Park, and enjoyed a grand feast at the best restaurant for lunch.

In the afternoon, they soaked up the sun at the Golden Beach. Finally, after a hearty dinner back at the dorms, they headed to the Research Department. This had nearly become a tradition for them.

“I’m saying goodbye to everyone today.” Himeko stood on the teleportation platform, looking at Kiana and the others gathered in a circle around her, her smile gentle.

“Instructor Himeko, we’ll miss you.”

This time, no one’s eyes were bloodshot, but the look they gave her was filled with lingering reluctance.

“Mm, I’ll miss you all too.” Himeko met their eyes, her golden gaze carrying a trace of sorrow she couldn't hide. “I wish you… to reach the stars.”

“Instructor Himeko, if we see you again in the future, we will definitely be stronger than we are now. And the White Comet sword will definitely become the weapon that suits me best.”

“Mm, I believe in you.” Himeko nodded softly, her gaze sweeping over Kiana and the others, as if she were trying to commit this exact moment to memory.

“Alright, if we keep going, I’m never going to be able to leave.” Himeko chuckled before turning to Bronya.

“Bronya.”

“Bronya understands.”

Bronya nodded, a serious expression on her small face, and stepped forward.

Himeko’s suitcase sat outside the teleportation platform. As Bronya raised her hands, ribbons of silver-blue light enveloped the case.

The Aether Editing technology went to work. Layers of fine light particles began to consolidate the space around the suitcase, as if plating it in an invisible film.

“Well done.” Himeko looked at Bronya with a proud expression. “When I get back, I’ll tell Silver Wolf about your progress.”

“Yes!”

When Bronya heard this, she immediately redoubled her efforts. Her face turned bright red, and beads of sweat the size of beans began to roll down her forehead.

Bronya… must let Silver Wolf see Bronya’s progress!

Yes, exactly like that~

Gaslighting Bronya a little before I leave makes me feel quite satisfied~ If Bronya found out the truth, I’m afraid Project Bunny’s cannon would be pointed directly at my face the next second!

“Well then, I’m off.” Himeko took a deep breath, looked up at everyone, and flashed a dashing smile.

“Instructor Himeko! Take care!”

“Instructor Himeko, have a safe journey.”

“We’ll miss you!”

They all spoke up, hiding their heartache behind bright, beaming smiles. That was really nice.

When the time came for the “Final Lesson,” she simply vanished from the platform. The suitcase lay quietly beside it, motionless.

“It worked…” Theresa looked at the suitcase, a look of surprise on her cute face.

“No…” Bronya lowered her hands, the silver-blue glow fading from the suitcase, and her face turned a bit pale. “Bronya… can feel that the matter composing the suitcase is slowly fading.”

“Eh?”

Theresa turned to look at Bronya, looking flustered.

“Because Bronya’s abilities are still insufficient.” Bronya frowned regretfully. “But at least it won't disappear within a short time—within a month. And if… it were used to preserve smaller objects, perhaps… it could last even longer.”

“Is that so? That’s enough.” Theresa took a deep breath and smiled again. “At least now, we’ve seen hope.”

“Mm.”

Bronya nodded softly, her eyes turning distant. “If only Bronya could be stronger… perhaps… we could let people who come to our world stay for longer.”

Or even… stay in our world forever.

Nobody said anything, but their hearts were all quietly stirring with excitement.

“Bronya,” Mei couldn't help but ask, “they always have to return to their own worlds, so… is there any way for us to use your Aether Editing technology… to find a way to their worlds?”

“…” Bronya was silent for a moment, her brow furrowed.

“Perhaps… it is possible.”

Hearing this, Kiana smiled. She thought of her other self, the "True Kiana."

If she could go to her world, the True Kiana wouldn't be all alone anymore—she would have her and the others there to keep her company! And then there was Raiden Ei; she absolutely had to find out what Beelzebul had done to her!

Just as they were lost in their own thoughts, a figure appeared out of thin air on the teleportation platform.

It was a tall woman in a magnificent white military uniform, accented with deep military flair and a green cape.

Her golden hair was tied at the ends, and her purple eyes held a fading sense of confusion mixed with intense vigilance.

Kiana and the others stared at the person on the platform, their eyes wide with shock.

Especially Bronya, who couldn't help but step forward, looking at the woman and crying out in bewilderment: “Mother Cocolia?”

“Bronya?” Cocolia looked down at Bronya, her brow slightly furrowed as a flash of shock and suspicion crossed her eyes.

The next moment, they all realized something was wrong. In Bronya’s eyes, this Cocolia was a total stranger—her demeanor was completely different, and she had never dressed like that before.

Cocolia also reacted quickly, stepping back, her body stiffening as the vigilance in her purple eyes deepened.

“You are not Bronya.”

“And you… are not the Mother Cocolia that Bronya knows.”

“Please, calm down.” Himeko stepped forward, her brow furrowed, trying to ease the tense atmosphere. “We are not your enemies.”

“Not my enemies?” Cocolia let out a cold laugh. “Then why did you bring me here? Or perhaps…”

Her brow furrowed deeply, and she suddenly looked up at the ceiling.

“Is it you again… trying to manipulate me again…”

Her furious, vigilant demeanor, as if she were facing a terrifying enemy with every nerve on edge, made Bronya feel at a loss.

“No, this isn't a hallucination.” Himeko raised her hands, signaling that she posed no threat to Cocolia.

“We don’t know how you arrived here, either.” Theresa stepped out, looking up at Cocolia with a serious expression. “But since you’re here, let’s calm down and talk about this slowly.”

“Not a hallucination?”

Cocolia coldly pulled a ceremonial military blade from her waist and, without hesitation, sliced across her own palm. Bright red blood immediately flowed from her palm, dripping onto the teleportation platform.

“Mother!” Bronya couldn't help but step forward and reach out to grab Cocolia’s hand.

“…”

The pain in her hand made Cocolia frown slightly, but the soft, real touch from the hand gripping hers made her take a deep breath.

“Not a hallucination…”

She whispered, then looked at Bronya with complex, bewildered eyes. “You… are you really Bronya? But how… how did you… return to your childhood again…”

Bronya didn't speak. She tore a piece of her own clothing and wrapped it around Cocolia’s palm, trying to stop the bleeding.

Cocolia allowed her to do it, then looked up at Theresa and the others, her gaze incredibly serious.

“I require an explanation.”

The cold, haughty aura of someone accustomed to power pressed down on the room, making it clear to everyone that the Cocolia in front of them was certainly a leader in her own world. And likely a leader who took no excuses.

Yet, as Cocolia watched them look so cautious, a sense of irony rose in her heart.

Suddenly scaring them… it feels pretty good~

“Let us treat your wound first!” Theresa turned and began ordering the researchers in the lab to bring over a first-aid kit, and they proceeded to treat Cocolia’s injury with professional care.

Before long, Cocolia’s hand was wrapped in professional bandages. But Cocolia’s expression remained unchanged; she watched Theresa and the others with a serious, intent gaze, the deep-seated wariness still lurking in her eyes.

Only, she silently allowed Bronya to stand by her side.

"You come from another world."

Inside Theresa’s office, she gazed at Cocolia, her expression serious.

"Before you, other visitors from beyond have arrived in our world. They always stay for seven days, and after those seven days, they return to their own worlds."

"Seven days..."

Cocolia’s expression turned ghastly; her eyes filled with fury and anxiety. "Belobog... without me, seven days is enough time to destroy it entirely!"

Belobog?

Upon hearing the name, everyone in the room shifted, particularly Bronya.

"And another thing!" Before anyone could question her, Cocolia’s sharp gaze locked onto Theresa, who sat behind the desk, her head only just peeking over the top of the oversized chair. Her voice dropped, low and cold.

"Why have you sent a child to speak with me? Where is the real authority in this place?"

With that, she turned her sharp, dissatisfied glare toward Himeko, as if waiting for an answer.

"..."

Although the situation was grave, the corner of Himeko’s mouth couldn't help but twitch.

"I am the commander-in-chief here." Theresa’s face flushed a deep crimson—adorable, really—but she knew her appearance often caused misunderstandings.

She didn't get angry, instead trying her best to straighten her face to explain.

"I am... I am actually forty-two years old!"

"Forty-two?"

Cocolia furrowed her brow, staring at Theresa with a look of stunned disbelief.

Hahahaha!

Watching Theresa struggle with the same pained expression Mei and the others had made after drinking her homemade coffee, Cocolia felt a surge of genuine delight.

"..."

The others remained silent, though their cheeks flushed slightly. They were holding back laughter.

"Fine. I understand." Cocolia didn't push it further. She looked at Theresa, her gaze softening, tinged with a hint of pity.

In that moment, Cocolia was certain: she had seen the tiny cracks in Theresa’s composure.

The feeling was absolutely wonderful. This was exactly why she had come to this world.

Cocolia stifled her amusement, keeping her expression neutral as she continued, "Then where is this, and who... are all of you?"

"This is the Far East Branch, St. Freya Academy. It is a world that shares some connections with yours, yet is entirely different."

Theresa tried her best to explain, picking up a mirror from her desk as an analogy.

"Look!" Theresa pointed to her reflection. "It’s like the inside of the mirror and the outside. The relationship between our worlds is much like this."

"Are you talking about the theory of parallel universes?" Cocolia asked, her brow furrowed.

"Eh?"

"If your world has a theory for parallel universes, just say so."

"I... it is indeed the theory of parallel universes." Theresa’s face turned red again, and she looked rather helpless and embarrassed.

"But that doesn't matter anymore."

Cocolia took a deep breath, glanced sideways at Bronya with a flash of nostalgia in her eyes, and then turned back to the others, her expression hardening.

"Tell me, how do I get back to Belobog right now?"

Hearing this from Cocolia again, the group was now certain: she was indeed the Supreme Guardian of Belobog that Seele had mentioned.

However, this Cocolia was not quite what they had imagined. They had expected someone who had abandoned the Underworld to be much more... cold-blooded.

"We have no way to do that. This isn't something we caused," Theresa said, shaking her head gently with a look of profound apology.

Cocolia sank back into her seat, her expression turning grim.

"However, before you, another person from Belobog arrived here, and she managed to return," Theresa added quickly, hoping to soothe her.

"Hmm? Who? What is her name?" Cocolia’s gaze sharpened instantly.

"Seele."

"I don't know that name."

"..." Theresa hesitated for a moment before looking at Cocolia and whispering, "She came from the Underworld. She is one of the operatives of Wildfire."

Upon hearing this, Cocolia went rigid, falling into a heavy silence.

"Mother Cocolia..." Bronya could no longer restrain herself. She stepped forward, looking up at Cocolia.

Her eyes were filled with confusion and anger, which she was struggling to suppress. "Why did you abandon the Underworld?"

"..."

Cocolia didn't answer immediately. She studied Bronya’s face, tracing every inch of her skin as if comparing her to someone else.

The office went quiet.

After a long silence, Cocolia’s voice dropped, softer and lower. "You look exactly like my daughter."

"..." A flash of shock crossed Bronya’s face, though her gaze remained firm.

Cocolia looked nearly identical to her own Mother Cocolia, too.

That was why she had instinctively called out to her, and why, seeing what the Cocolia of this world had done, she couldn't help but be overcome with emotion.

"The same naivety, the same purity, the same desire to protect everyone, yet completely blind to the crisis looming behind them." Cocolia’s voice was laced with exhaustion, her gaze fixed on Bronya as if looking at a stubborn, rebellious daughter she couldn't reason with.

She turned her gaze to Theresa.

"So, have you learned everything about Belobog from Seele?"

"No."

Theresa shook her head, her deep blue eyes serious. "We only know about the plight of the Underworld. We know... very little about the Overworld."

"Is that so."

Cocolia sighed softly, the anger in her eyes fading, replaced by a deep, hollow exhaustion. "Are you certain there is no way to return to Belobog earlier?"

"I... I am sorry."

"It does not matter, so long as this is not your doing." Cocolia’s tone held a hint of despair and numbness.

Theresa and Himeko exchanged a glance, both stunned.

"Cocolia," Theresa asked seriously, "may I ask... were you facing such a predicament that you were forced to abandon the Underworld?"

"Has Seele told you about the Fragmentum?"

The group hesitated. They were well aware of the Fragmentum—the strange energy fields that continuously eroded the living space of Seele and the others.

"Yes, she told us about that," Theresa nodded.

"That is the reason." Cocolia’s expression became cold and rational, her purple eyes alight with the dignity of a Supreme Guardian.

"The Fragmentum has gradually spread into the main districts of Belobog. I had no choice but to make a decision: abandon the Underworld and deploy troops to the Fragmentum to prevent it from spreading further."

"But what does that have to do with casting off the Underworld entirely?" Bronya challenged.

"It was a necessary sacrifice, Bronya." Cocolia looked at her. "I had no choice."

She looked pained as she continued.

"Belobog has stood against the Eternal Freeze and the erosion of the Fragmentum for hundreds of years. The outer defenses fell first, then the outer districts, the production bases, the commercial streets, the residential areas... for centuries, Belobog has survived through constant loss and sacrifice."

Cocolia looked at them, her tone growing earnest. "Bronya... the Seele you speak of, she is happy."

When she said this, Bronya’s face flushed red. She had cracked.

But Cocolia wasn't about to give Bronya a chance to lash out. She intended to drive the knife in deep, then try to make her understand.

"Because they are unaware that Belobog is less than two months away from total annihilation."

Cocolia’s expression went blank. The room fell into stunned silence. Only on Cocolia’s face was there a hint of relief, as if she had finally unburdened herself of a crushing secret.

"Total... annihilation?" Bronya looked at her, bewildered. Seeing the momentary apathy and peace on Cocolia’s face after shedding such a massive burden made it even harder to accept.

"How is that possible? Seele told me... the Overworld abandoned them... how could..."

"Because the resources of the Overworld are about to run out."

Cocolia met Bronya’s gaze, her eyes numb and suppressed. "Hundreds of years of holding on have drained Belobog’s final resources. The production hubs have been mostly consumed by the Fragmentum.”

“As it stands, our resources can only sustain the Overworld for another two months. After that, we will be completely wiped out by the Freeze and the Fragmentum. If I had not abandoned the Underworld, Belobog would have already fallen."

Everyone listened quietly, looking at her vacant expression with shock and helplessness.

They had assumed Cocolia abandoned the Underworld simply because it was a burden, but now they learned it was a desperate attempt to extend Belobog’s lifespan.

"It... it was like that..." Theresa looked at Cocolia, unable to believe it.

"You said this is another world!" Cocolia suddenly looked at them, a flicker of brightness returning to her dim eyes. "Can you provide help? Belobog is willing to pay any price!"

Theresa and the others remained silent.

Seeing their reaction, the hope in Cocolia’s eyes slowly faded.

"I’m sorry..." Theresa’s voice was strained. "We have not yet mastered the technology to travel to the worlds of our visitors, and we... we cannot allow you to take much with you."

Seeing their guilt, Cocolia knew her objective for this trip had essentially been achieved.

"Is that so... I see." The hope in her eyes extinguished, and she became calm once more.

"No... Bronya! Bronya can do it!" Bronya became incredibly frantic. "As long as Bronya can become stronger, Bronya can make sure you take back enough supplies when you go!"

Theresa opened her mouth but couldn't find the words.

Cocolia looked at Bronya’s desperate expression with a calm gaze, a faint curve touching her lips. She reached out and gently stroked Bronya’s head.

Bronya slapped her hand away violently.

Cocolia didn't get angry; she just watched her quietly, a hint of sorrow passing through her eyes.

"Do not lightly shoulder a burden that will crush you... Bronya."

"..."

The moment Cocolia spoke those words, Bronya fell silent. She clenched her fists, her eyes turning red.

When Silver Wolf had arrived earlier, it had merely suggested that Belobog might have fallen, but they had kept a sliver of hope.

Now, Cocolia’s arrival had told them that Belobog’s end was imminent. They had no idea if Silver Wolf would make it in time.

And... Himeko had mentioned that Silver Wolf had become a notorious Stellaron Hunter.

"The timeline..." Fu Hua spoke up, her expression grave. "The timelines for the Academy Principal, Seele, Silver Wolf, and Cocolia... they might not be the same."

"What do you mean?" Theresa turned to her immediately.

Cocolia looked surprised as well. Fu Hua had spotted a flaw in her fabricated lies—the timelines were indeed inconsistent.

"When Seele came to our world, Belobog was still in the grip of the Eternal Freeze," Fu Hua said, adjusting her glasses, her blue eyes intense.

"Later, Silver Wolf came. She knew Belobog possessed a Stellaron and had been consumed by the Freeze. At our request, she promised to go check on it. At that time, she wasn't a member of the Stellaron Hunters."

When Fu Hua mentioned the Stellaron, a flash of shock appeared in Cocolia’s eyes before she quickly masked it. Himeko noticed.

"Later," Fu Hua continued, "an alternate-reality version of Himeko came and told us that Silver Wolf had become a Stellaron Hunter. Therefore, I conclude that in their worlds, the timelines do not align with our own."

"Different timelines, what does that mean?" Cocolia frowned, her expression turning serious.

"It means..." Fu Hua watched Cocolia, "that while you, Seele, Silver Wolf, and Himeko all exist in the same universe, you may come from different points in time."

"..."

Cocolia listened in silence, her purple eyes flickering.

"If that is the case, we have already asked our friend to go to Jarilo to find you. She will definitely be able to help you!" Theresa said sincerely.

But Cocolia’s expression became urgent.

"Timelines? Different times? Is that all you can think of? Have you not considered that the flow of time in my world might be different from yours? One minute here could be an eternity there!"

As Cocolia said this, her voice bordering on a breakdown, the faces of Theresa and the others froze. They had thought of it—the moment Fu Hua mentioned the timelines, the thought had crossed their minds—but they hadn't dared to say it.

Now, Cocolia had "realized" it too. They immediately thought of Kiana and the others who had come before. If the flow of time were truly inconsistent...

A chill ran down everyone’s spine.

Fu Hua frowned, speaking up, "No. A traveler named Raiden Ei once visited us. Her timeline was shortly after an event called the Cataclysm.”

“After she returned, another traveler from her world told us that in the same period, shortly after the Cataclysm, Raiden Ei had engaged in a conflict with another entity... Therefore, I judge that when you return to your world, the timeline is normal for you."

Fu Hua’s calm, steady voice settled the agitation in Cocolia.

"If that is the case... then that is good." Cocolia breathed a deep sigh of relief.

"Just now, when Fu Hua mentioned the Stellaron, your expression was unnatural," Himeko said, narrowing her eyes at Cocolia. "And when Seele was here, she said nothing about the Stellaron. So... I am curious. Is the existence of the Stellaron a secret in your world?"

"..." Cocolia looked at Himeko, her brow furrowed, a complex expression crossing her eyes. She seemed to be weighing her words. Finally, she sighed helplessly.

"Yes. Apart from the successive Supreme Guardians and a very small number of researchers, almost no one knows of its existence."

"..."

No one asked why. In this world, Schicksal and Anti-Entropy both hid the existence of the Honkai from the public. They all knew that letting the masses know about such things was never a good idea.

The situation had reached an impasse. Theresa and the others now fully understood the crisis Cocolia’s world faced, even knowing it was on the brink of collapse. But they were powerless to help.

"If I cannot return within these seven days," Cocolia said, her expression weary, "could you prepare a place for me to rest? If you want compensation, I can..."

"No, there’s no need!" Theresa shook her head. "You can rest here. We won't charge you a thing!"

"Hmm... thank you."

Cocolia stood up, not looking at Bronya. "Can you take me there now? I would like to be alone."

Theresa looked with concern at Bronya, who kept her head down with her fists clenched tight, then nodded gently.

"Of course."

"Himeko, please take her to the dormitory to rest."

"Alright, follow me..." Himeko nodded and began to lead the way.

Kiana and the others watched Bronya with worry, feeling that all of this might be far too cruel for her. As Cocolia passed by, she didn't look at Bronya either, though a flicker of sadness crossed her eyes.

She looked like a mother who knew her time was short and, unwilling to cause further pain to a girl who resembled her own daughter, chose not to engage.

"Wait."

As Cocolia reached the door, Bronya spoke.

Cocolia paused, but didn't stop, until Bronya hurried over and grabbed her hand.

"Wait..." Bronya lifted her head, looking into the eyes of Cocolia, who had turned to face her in silence. Her own eyes were filled with intense resolve.

"Cocolia... Mother, what exactly does Belobog lack? Is it energy, or is it something else that is causing it to fall?"

"..."

Cocolia remained silent for a long time. She looked at Bronya and sighed deeply. "Belobog lacks everything. Whether it be energy, food, or resources... in every aspect, we have reached a dead end."

"..."

Bronya froze, a look of shock reflecting in her silver-gray eyes.

"Bronya." Cocolia reached out again, gently stroking her head. Her voice softened, though hidden deep within that low, gentle tone was a profound sorrow.

"Say no more. And do not try to help me... you... do not belong to that world. Do not let yourself be burdened by a mission that was never yours to bear."

The night grew deep.

Cocolia and the residents of the Valkyrie dormitory walked along the tree-lined path of St. Freya Academy, where rows of streetlights bathed the road ahead in a warm, amber glow.

An oppressive silence hung over everyone.

As Cocolia walked among them, she scanned each person’s face, then retracted her gaze, a touch of helplessness stirring within her.

It seems the shock she gave Mei and the others was a bit too much...

Almost every character she transformed into seemed to be the bearer of bad news for them.

While this might accelerate their growth, it was definitely a case of "helping the shoots grow by pulling them," doing more harm than good in the long run.

Especially Bronya, who was walking right in front of her, yet hadn't looked back at her even once.

"We're here," Theresa’s voice finally broke the silence.

Cocolia looked up at the dormitory building ahead. It wasn't luxurious, but it was cozy enough, with warm yellow light spilling from the windows, offering an instant sense of relief.

After following Mei inside, Cocolia put on the slippers Mei had prepared for her.

"Cocolia," Himeko said softly, "this way, please. Let me show you to your room."

"Mm."

Cocolia nodded gently and followed Himeko down the hall, passing an open door.

Yae Sakura was tidying up the bedroom, gathering personal items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, and towels into a small box. Nearby, a few clothes were folded neatly.

"The person who lived in this room before you was a traveler who arrived in our world. Her name was also Himeko—an alternate-universe counterpart of mine."

Noticing Cocolia’s gaze, Himeko explained with a complex expression.

Cocolia nodded slightly and looked away.

As if I didn't know that...

She was simply feeling a pang of nostalgia for the days she used to spend drinking with Himeko.

Cocolia followed Himeko to the end of the corridor and pushed open the door.

"This will be your room for the next seven days. Everything you need is already here. If you need anything else, just let us know."

"Understood."

Cocolia stepped inside, her eyes sweeping over the layout. It was identical to the room she had occupied previously.

Beyond the window, she could see the academy's vast sports field, where several Valkyries were still out for a night jog. In the distance, the shimmering surface of the sea was visible. A refreshing breeze drifted in through the window, cooling the room.

After thanking Himeko calmly, Cocolia closed the door, sat by the window, and watched the view.

Wow...

Although the Valkyries on the field weren't as pretty as Mei and her friends, their figures were still top-notch, and there was such a vibrant mix of styles.

Watching them move with such energy, Cocolia felt a sense of peace settle over her.

Using this new body to view the academy—filled with life—gave her a sense of novelty and enjoyment, as if she were seeing it all for the first time. It was a perk that seemed to come with every transformation.

After about ten minutes, Cocolia suddenly turned toward the door, her purple eyes serene. Having confirmed she hadn't been drooling while watching the Valkyries, she called out:

"Bronya, come in. I know you're at the door."

The door opened, and Bronya entered carrying a small tray. On it sat a bowl of tomato and egg noodle soup, a thermos, and a cup.

"Bronya brought you dinner and hot water."

Her tone was flat, devoid of emotion. Her silver-gray eyes reflected Cocolia’s face, which softened instinctively upon seeing her. However, Bronya couldn't help but look conflicted.

"If you need to shower, the bathroom is at the end of the hall."

"Thank you."

Cocolia nodded, rose from the chair, and took the tray from Bronya’s hands to set it on the table.

For a brief moment, their eyes locked.

Bronya’s gaze was complex—a mix of distance, confusion, and a stubborn desire to say something she refused to voice. Cocolia simply watched her, her expression as calm as still water.

"...Rest well." With that, Bronya turned and left, pulling the door shut behind her.

Cocolia stared at the closed door for a long time before letting out a soft sigh.

"Still unwilling to call me 'Mom', are you?"

Cocolia truly looked forward to the day Bronya would call her "Mom" again. Back then, it had felt incredibly heart-warming.

With that, she turned to the noodles and ate quietly by the window.

The next day, Mei knocked on the door to call her for breakfast.

When Cocolia sat down at the dining table, Bronya was opposite her. She didn't look up once, just focused on her meal.

It seemed Bronya was truly furious about "her" abandoning the residents of the Underworld and abandoning Seele.

Kiana tried to liven up the mood a few times, but after a warning glance from Theresa, she could only bury her head in her bowl. It was the first time Cocolia had seen such a heavy atmosphere at the table.

How troublesome. Cocolia sighed inwardly.

No matter what character I turn into next, I’ll stop playing the villain. At the very least, I need to give Kiana and the others a buffer period to properly rest.

"Mei," Theresa asked after the meal, looking at Raiden Mei earnestly. "The Valkyrie level assessment is coming up soon. How do you feel about your preparations?"

"The coursework has been reviewed," Mei nodded. "We’ll make sure to put in some extra training these next few days."

"That’s good."

Theresa then turned to Kiana. "Kiana, don't slack off on your academics this time, alright?"

"I knooow~" Kiana dragged out her answer, though she looked rather listless.

"Alright."

Himeko stood up, her expression serious. "Time’s up. Head to the training room; it’s time for today’s session."

"Got it~"

The group rose and headed for the door. As Bronya passed Cocolia, she paused for a fleeting second, but ultimately said nothing and kept walking.

The living room soon fell silent, save for Yae Sakura cleaning up, with Higokumaru helping pass the plates. Cocolia sat quietly on the sofa, watching the TV program Kiana had left on.

"Do you need any help?" Cocolia asked, watching Sakura’s busy back.

"No, thank you."

Sakura turned back with a gentle smile. "You are our guest. Just focus on resting."

A guest.

Being addressed that way felt quite delicate. When will I be able to extend my transformation time, or regain the ability to freely switch into my previous forms? Cocolia sighed helplessly.

Meanwhile, in the training room, Kiana and the others had equipped their armor. Himeko operated the instruments in the control room, pulling up enemy data on the screen.

"Today’s target: Padrino MFG."

As soon as Himeko spoke, orange Titan mechs began to manifest on the field. Three, five, eight! Their massive mechanical feet slammed into the ground with a dull boom.

Previously, the girls had only dealt with one at a time. Now, they were facing eight, with environmental debuffs actively draining their health. Naturally, this was only possible because their Valkyrie armor provided such a leap in power.

"Bring it on!" Kiana wasn't afraid; she didn't even think eight Padrinos were all that impressive. She gripped her blade, her gaze sharp. "I’m in a bad mood today! You guys are perfect for letting off some steam!"

Mei drew her Castigation, crackling purple electricity dancing along the blade. Bronya summoned Project Bunny, her silver-gray eyes as calm as ever.

However, from the control room, Himeko could easily sense that Bronya’s mood was abysmal.

That was exactly why Himeko had thrown eight Padrinos at them—to give them an outlet for their emotions so they could finally communicate properly later.

The battle began.

Kiana, Mei, and Bronya cooperated with increasing synergy, their efficiency climbing. Yet, Bronya’s attacks were sharper and more aggressive than usual, as if she were trying to hack away at something invisible.

Mei noticed, but said nothing. She simply supported Bronya, appearing whenever she needed backup and covering her flanks. Kiana would frequently step in to intercept mechs trying to rush Bronya.

Even so, it took them nearly an hour to take down the last Padrino, leaving them within a hair's breadth of being defeated by the environmental drain.

"Whew..." Kiana exhaled, wiping sweat from her forehead, her expression triumphant. "Mission accomplished! A bunch of Padrinos are nothing."

"Indeed."

Mei sheathed her blade, choosing not to lecture Kiana on being too proud. Instead, she looked at Bronya with gentle concern. "Bronya, you were… a bit reckless today."

"Apologies… Mei-onee-sama. Bronya only wanted to improve her strength as quickly as possible," Bronya replied calmly. "The Valkyrie assessment is almost here."

Mei looked at her profile and fell silent. She couldn't help but wonder how to help Bronya let go of her resentment and have a real conversation with Cocolia.

Back in the dormitory, Cocolia watched as Yae Sakura cleaned everything to a spotless shine. She fell into deep thought. To be honest, she hadn't expected Sakura’s daily life to be like this.

Or perhaps... had she just gotten used to living in a place so clean it reflected one's own shadow, viewing it as a given?

"Cocolia." After finishing her work, Sakura walked over. "Would you like to go for a walk? I can show you around the academy."

"Sure." Cocolia nodded, her eyes softening. "That would be no trouble at all."

"Not at all."

A moment later, the two headed out, with Higokumaru trailing beside Sakura, curiously eyeing Cocolia.

Cocolia was curious too. When exactly will Higokumaru lose control... It was fascinating. Not that it mattered much; at this point, even if she did lose control, she wouldn't be able to stir up much trouble.

"Big sister, where are you from?" Higokumaru asked, using the honorific she reserved for any woman older than herself.

"..."

Cocolia’s mouth twitched. She used to be used to being called "Big Sister," but hearing it now reminded her that her current vessel was dozens of years old. She imagined Sakura felt the same.

"A very far place," Cocolia said calmly. "A place covered in ice and snow."

"Ice and snow?" Higokumaru blinked, her voice light and sugary. "It must be very cold, right?"

"Yes. Very cold."

"Then why didn't you move somewhere warmer?"

Sakura began to regret bringing the topic up, knowing the question was a bit "hellish." But Cocolia didn't look angry; she simply continued.

"Because... that place is my home."

Higokumaru nodded as if she understood, and didn't ask further.

As they walked, Sakura introduced the various buildings. Cocolia nodded occasionally to show she was listening, but her gaze was mostly fixed on the greenery lining the road.

The flowers and trees stretched their leaves in the morning light, crystalline dew drops clinging to the foliage.

Watching it all, Cocolia’s expression couldn't help but soften.

"Do you like plants?" Sakura asked curiously.

"Yes."

Cocolia nodded gently, her tone wistful. "In Belobog, these aren't common. Apart from a few flowers sold in shops, you rarely see a speck of green. People in Belobog couldn't resist stopping to watch plants like these—growing wildly by the roadside, yet so vibrant despite the wind and sun..."

Sakura listened quietly, her eyes filled with pity. She hadn't realized Belobog’s survival situation had reached such a point. What was mundane to them was a luxury in another world.

"In Belobog, every plant is a precious resource."

Cocolia crouched by a patch of pink flowers, her fingers tracing their soft, damp petals. "Their leaves are medicine, the flowers are for spices, the fruits are food..."

By the end, a hint of envy and self-mockery colored her voice. "But here, they are just... decorations."

"If you like them, you can pick a few," Sakura said softly. "Keep them in your room, and it might lift your spirits."

"No," Cocolia shook her head with a faint smile. "If I pick them, they won't live for long. Let them... grow here. Just like Bronya."

"..."

Sakura paused, looking at Cocolia, who had stood up and shed her soft expression for the dignified, authoritative look of a Supreme Guardian once more.

They ate lunch at the canteen, and in the afternoon, they visited the library and the museum—Cocolia hadn't even known the academy had a museum!

Finally, they arrived at the Fountain Plaza. A few new Homu statues had been placed there. They looked so cute that Cocolia couldn't help but praise them.

Then she realized her aesthetic standards had been assimilated by the Valkyries. She used to think Homu were ugly; now, they were actually quite adorable.

"Yes," Sakura nodded. "Those are Bronya’s favorite characters."

"Is that so?"

Cocolia paused, her smile growing warmer. Maybe I should give Bronya a little more "edge"...

I’ll sneak out to buy some fabric and cotton, and spend the night sewing a Homu doll by myself. I’ll pretend I have no chance to talk to Bronya these next few days.

When I eventually disappear, they’ll clean the room and find the handmade doll I hid... Bronya will definitely cry! Hehehehe~

Just as she thought this, she remembered she had decided last night to stop being a "blade" to them. My, I really am a scoundrel.

Regardless, she was determined to make that doll.

After passing a supermarket, she borrowed some money from Sakura to buy the materials. Sakura guessed her intention but didn't say a word.

When they returned to the dormitory that evening, Bronya sat opposite her at dinner, didn't look up, and returned to her room immediately after.

Cocolia watched her back, a flash of complex, helpless heartbreak—the sorrow of a mother ignored by her child—crossing her purple eyes. It was only for an instant, but Mei caught it, and they exchanged knowing, conflicted looks.

After dinner, Kiana and the others went back to the training room. Cocolia sat on the sofa, her gaze drifting. Sakura sat beside her with two cups of hot tea.

"It's nothing," Cocolia said, her composure returning. She shook her head.

Sakura didn't press, simply handing her the tea. "Thank you." Cocolia took the cup, feeling its warmth, and made her decision.

I'll do it. I’m already here, might as well go through with it.

A moment later, she returned to her room and began sewing the Homu doll from memory. Her technique was rusty, and she pricked her fingers more than once.

She threw the bloodied cotton balls and tissues deep into the trash bin, covering them with clean cotton.

She didn't know if they would find them, but it would be a nice little surprise to leave behind. A corner of her mouth curled up.

She continued her work. Thanks to the character she was currently inhabiting, she was able to finish a slightly misshapen Homu doll before long. She contemplated it, decided to make another one, and hid the first one away.

Suddenly, she heard voices from the living room.

"Excuse me for the late intrusion. I am the new secretary appointed by Principal Theresa."

A man’s voice. That was rare. Cocolia had never heard a man in the Valkyrie dorms before. Hearing the familiar lines, she didn't need to guess who it was.

Welt.

A clone of Welt Joyce, but with a completely different personality. She looked at the Homu doll in her hands with a sigh.

It seems this is as far as I get.

But... if I end up fighting him later, get injured, and have to go to the infirmary... when Bronya sees this doll, maybe she'll drop her guard and come to visit me, her "mother," after all?

As she put the doll down and walked out, the conversation in the living room continued.

"Principal Theresa requests Ms. Cocolia to come to her office."

"Is that so?" Sakura’s voice turned noticeably cold and wary. "Then I shall accompany her."

Honkai Transformations - 107

"Oh my... this is a bit of a predicament. Principal Theresa only summoned Miss Cocolia."

Stepping out the door, Cocolia looked toward the two figures at the entrance, a flicker of curiosity rising in her heart.

Welt—was he Yae Sakura’s opponent?

Likely not. His character flaws were simply too great, large enough to be his undoing.

And...

Looking for me?

Does Anti-Entropy want to capture me?

Cocolia mused for a moment, and decided that it actually made sense. After all, she had always appeared and disappeared alone, and always in the same location.

To Anti-Entropy, capturing her meant they could extract all sorts of information or unique technologies from the endless stream of people crossing into this world.

"Oh? You've come out?"

Inside the living room, Welt looked at Cocolia, his eyes filled with a defiant, playful glint.

"You said Principal Theresa needs to see me?" Cocolia stared at him, her voice low, her eyes sharp with scrutiny. "Then, have her call me to confirm it."

"Tch."

Welt kept that same playful expression, seemingly unfazed. He merely extended a hand, calm and casual.

Cocolia’s eyes instantly sharpened. A powerful wave of gravity erupted within the quiet, peaceful dormitory, shaking the very air.

Yae Sakura immediately reached for her Sakura Blossom, but a massive repulsive force slammed into her, sending her flying.

Cocolia felt the weight pinning her down as well. However... she felt a slight surprise. She discovered that she could break free from this gravitational hold.

"You really are a suspicious one, Lady Cocolia. You’re much less obedient than the version of you in this world." Welt pulled back his hood, watching her with a mocking smirk.

Cocolia raised an eyebrow.

This Welt guy was quite arrogant... She didn’t think she couldn’t beat him, and even if she couldn’t, she could certainly hold out until Mei and the others returned.

"The version of me in this world?" Cocolia stood firm against the crushing gravity, locking eyes with Welt, her brows deeply furrowed.

As everyone knows, when facing an enemy whose strength is uncertain, the best tactic is to talk them into a corner! Especially when dealing with an arrogant, self-important antagonist—this was exactly how so many villains in novels and movies met their end.

"That's right, the you of this world." Welt watched her with amusement. "I really don't understand why she wants to see you. What is there to value in a fallen Guardian from a world on the brink of extinction?"

"Then, for someone as powerful as you, why come looking for me?" Cocolia didn’t hesitate to stroke his ego. A flash of pride crossed Welt’s face, satisfied by the flattery.

"Because she’s my subordinate. And since she begged me so... I suppose I’ll go out of my way to make this trip. You’d best be sensible, too, and save me the trouble."

The moment he finished, Cocolia’s pupils constricted.

For a split second, the rage and killing intent of a ruler being severely provoked surfaced, before she quickly reigned it back in. She had no idea if Otto or some other hidden eye was watching her every move.

"I told you, I’m not going with you."

"That’s not for you to decide."

The moment the words left his mouth, a streak of cherry-colored light lunged at him. A semi-circular Honkai energy barrier shimmered around Welt, locking him in safety.

"Heh, not bad." Welt’s lips curled into a sneer as he watched Yae Sakura’s blade strike his shield. "As expected of a Pseudo-Herrscher, but..."

The second he uttered that last word, the light from Yae Sakura’s blade flared brilliantly, shattering the barrier in an instant.

"What!?"

Disbelief washed over Welt. He retreated, dodging the strike while simultaneously releasing an indiscriminate surge of intense gravity across the room.

Cocolia groaned, a dark, grim look flashing in her eyes.

"Get out of here!" Yae Sakura blocked the path in front of Cocolia, her gaze turning cold, her azure eyes burning with lethal intent. "Otherwise, I won't hold back!"

"Then let's see you try!"

Welt’s eyes flared with anger. Just then, Cocolia heard Higokumaru’s pained voice coming from the living room.

"Big Sis! I... I can't breathe!"

Yae Sakura’s movements faltered, and Cocolia’s brow furrowed tightly.

"Oh?" Welt noticed their reaction, a malicious grin spreading across his face. "It seems... you have a weakness here."

With a sneer, he raised his hand toward the living room. A sphere of pure, dark purple gravitational pressure condensed in his palm. Yae Sakura rushed forward to stop him, but Welt intensified the gravity, trying to pin her down.

As he flung the gravity ball, Cocolia moved in a blur, shielding the living room.

A cross-shaped ice pattern, like a magic circle, manifested out of thin air. Sharp ice blades pierced outward, shattering the purple-black sphere.

The resulting shockwave instantly tore the roof off the dormitory.

Violent winds whipped against Cocolia’s face, sending her long golden hair dancing wildly in the air.

She couldn't help but glance up at the deep night sky and the brilliant river of stars, and her expression turned pitch black.

My house!!

I’ve only lived here for two months!

Now, the only thing still intact was the living room behind her. In that moment, Cocolia truly wanted to unleash her full power and crush this damn Welt into the dirt.

Suddenly, a massive Titan de-cloaked behind her, its mechanical fist whistling toward the back of her head.

"Watch out!"

At Yae Sakura’s urgent warning, Cocolia spun around. Several ice spears erupted from her position, impaling and freezing the Titan in its tracks.

That was close. Almost as embarrassing as Wendy, Cocolia thought, relieved.

But at that moment, more giant Titans appeared in the living room, and one of them reached out a hand toward the terrified Higokumaru.

"Heh." Welt watched this with a disdainful laugh.

"Let her go!!" Yae Sakura tried to rush forward to save Higokumaru, but Welt blocked her path, standing firm.

Just as the Titan’s hand was about to grab Higokumaru, Cocolia’s pupils flashed a deep, void-like black, though shimmering stars seemed to dance within them.

In the blink of an eye, she appeared among the three Titans, and massive ice spikes radiated outward from her, piercing the machines.

The sound of twisting, shrieking metal echoed as the Titans were skewered.

"Is that all?" Cocolia bent down, gently pulling the trembling Higokumaru into her arms, then cast a cold gaze at Welt.

"Damn it..." Welt sensed the situation turning against him. Desperation mixed with anger, twisting his features.

Just as Cocolia prepared to let Higokumaru go and give Welt a piece of her mind, a holographic screen projected from one of the still-functional, though pierced, Titans.

A familiar figure appeared on the display.

Blonde hair, violet eyes, and an air of regal authority.

Cocolia. The Cocolia of this world.

"Greetings," the Anti-Entropy Executive on the screen said, her lips curling into an elegant, composed smile. "My counterpart from another world."

"Oh? So you're the one trying to kidnap me?" Cocolia cradled Higokumaru, glancing at Welt who was now locked in combat with Yae Sakura, before fixing her gaze back on the Executive. Her expression remained ice-cold; the fact that the woman looked exactly like her brought no warmth to her eyes.

"No, I’ve come to help you," the Executive said, her voice resonant with gravity. "I understand that your world is nearing its end. You need resources, energy—everything it takes to ensure the survival of Belobog."

Cocolia’s expression remained stony. "Is that so?"

"Certainly." The Executive watched her, seemingly unbothered by her cold attitude. "Schicksal cannot provide this. They are too soft, too naive. They had the chance to find another world through your presence, to unite our worlds and fight the disasters we both face!”

“Yet, they remain weak, drowning in petty attachments, weeping for what happens in other worlds while refusing to take a single step toward exploration!"

The Executive’s tone sharpened with disdain.

Cocolia mused that if she really were the Supreme Guardian of Belobog, she might have actually been swayed. After all, only a Cocolia truly understands a Cocolia.

And...

Cocolia thought back to the stress she’d been putting on Kiana and the others lately.

Kiana was starting to grow into the Kiana from the second game; Mei was showing the calm, rational traits of her Elysian Realm self ahead of schedule; Bronya... well, it was harder to tell.

The constant stream of bad news had worn them down. While they remained strong on the surface, Cocolia could see it in their eyes—a weariness.

And... fear.

Fear that the next traveler would bring even worse news.

Fear that the people they cared about were already gone.

Perhaps, Cocolia sighed, I really should leave for a while.

If she didn't, who knows what kind of state the girls would be in by the time the main plot actually started in two years.

Cocolia looked at the Executive on the screen, at her air of conviction and justice. A thorn remained in her heart.

She had changed so much that even though she knew this was Honkai Impact 3rd, she feared the day Anti-Entropy’s Cocolia would show up in the Selene and self-destruct inside the school.

She had to go to Anti-Entropy... and judge for herself.

"Believe me, I am you, and you are me. I would never harm you." The Executive’s tone was persuasive, bordering on desperate, as Welt was now being soundly beaten by Yae Sakura.

"Don't trust her!" Yae Sakura shouted, momentarily distracted.

"Shut up!"

Welt, now red-eyed and losing his senses, lunged at the opening to kill Yae Sakura, even though he was clearly the losing party.

"Come to Anti-Entropy. We are the same person. Only I can truly understand you and help you."

Cocolia took a deep breath and nodded calmly. "Fine. I'll go with you."

"What?" Yae Sakura spun around, her azure eyes wide with shock and confusion. "Cocolia! You can't!"

"I'm sorry, Yae Sakura." Cocolia looked at her with a flicker of regret. "I must find a way... to save Belobog."

"She’s lying to you!"

"Perhaps." Cocolia turned and gently placed Higokumaru on the sofa. "But... I still want to see for myself."

"Big Sis... please don't go."

Higokumaru tried to hold her back, but Cocolia shook her head gently and looked at the Executive, her expression cold once more. "We're leaving. But, you are not to harm Higokumaru."

"Agreed."

"Wait...!" Yae Sakura tried to intervene, but Welt seized the opportunity to press the attack.

Outside, a dull rumble filled the air. Titan mechs descended from the sky, their heavy mechanical feet thudding onto the ground as they surrounded the dormitory.

Their red, unblinking eyes and massive frames cast a menacing glow through the night.

An Anti-Entropy transport ship descended from above, hovering at the edge of the living room.

"Welcome to Anti-Entropy."

The Executive’s lips curled into a satisfied smile. The screen went dark.

"Wait!"

Yae Sakura fought to push past the Titans, still trying to dissuade Cocolia. But Cocolia simply walked toward the edge of the transport ship, her voice cold and calm.

"Yae Sakura, I apologize. Lastly, could you please pass a message to Bronya for me?"

"Tell her... I hope she can live happily in this world, according to her own will."

"Bronya wouldn't want you to leave!"

"That is her business. But, I am the Supreme Guardian of Belobog."

With that, Cocolia stepped out of the dormitory and boarded the transport without a second glance. The hatch hissed shut.

The Titans moved to block Yae Sakura, preventing her from reaching the ship.

However—

Welt didn't leave. He stood at the threshold, eyes locked on Yae Sakura with chilling intent.

"Mission accomplished," he muttered, as if talking to himself. "But... since I'm here, it feels like such a waste not to kill something before I go."

His playful, mocking laughter filled the air. "I heard you’ve been sticking by Cocolia, hoping that when she leaves again, you might finally see Kallen? Heh, don't count on it. I won't let you have your way. And now... how about I kill that little one, Higokumaru, while I’m at it?"

Blocked by the Titans, Yae Sakura’s head snapped toward him, a splash of blood-red color rising in her azure eyes.

Welt suddenly felt a terrifying sense of dread wash over him.

In the next heartbeat, Yae Sakura vanished.

Welt’s pupils shrank. His body instinctively tried to dodge.

Shing—!

A crimson line appeared on his arm. His limb slid off like butter, separating from his body.

"You... all of you deserve to die!"

Yae Sakura reappeared behind him, holding her Sakura Blossom, which now looked different, sharper. She daintily licked a drop of blood from the blade, turning to the screaming man with a bloodthirsty smile.

Higokumaru watched, her fox ears drooping, her small face pale with terror. It was as if their roles had reversed; even though she was the true Herrscher, she was deeply frightened by the look on Yae Sakura's face.

Screams began to echo through the ruins of the dormitory.

Moments later, Mei and the others arrived, but they found only the wreckage of the building. In place of the dormitory, they saw a severed arm on the ground, and Yae Sakura, her cheeks stained with blood, holding a trembling Higokumaru while her azure eyes glowed with a chilling, vacant light.

"Sakura!"

Bronya flew over, staring blankly at the destruction.

"What happened?! Sakura!" Himeko and Mei rushed forward, scanning the area warily, especially the severed limb.

"I'm sorry."

Yae Sakura looked up at them, her azure eyes filled with grief and self-reproach. "Cocolia... she was taken by Anti-Entropy."

"What?!?" Himeko’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Kiana glared at the severed arm, gritting her teeth. "Anti-Entropy bastards! They sent a bunch of Titans to block us while we were training! And Auntie’s side was attacked too! I thought they were trying to kidnap Mei!"

"How could this be..." Bronya stared at the ruins, unable to process that Cocolia had actually been taken. She scanned the wreckage, searching.

Then, she saw it.

Tucked between chunks of rubble and broken boards, a worn-out, slightly dusty Homu doll lay there.

It wasn't like the ones sold in stores. The stitching was crude, the seams uneven, but every loose thread had been carefully tucked away. The stuffing was lumpy, clearly sewn by hand, not a factory product.

Near the doll, a crushed trash can was littered with cotton stained by blood.

Bronya looked at the scene, a sense of foreboding chilling her heart.

"Bronya..." Yae Sakura noticed her gaze. Her voice was soft, heavy with guilt. "That is the doll Cocolia sewed for you."

Bronya froze. The others looked over, and as they saw the doll, a sinking feeling settled in all of them.

"Also..." Yae Sakura took a breath. "She... asked me to give you a message."

Bronya didn't speak. She walked over and knelt, picking up the dusty Homu doll. She stared into its eyes—two black gemstones.

She recognized them. They had been on Cocolia’s cape.

Cocolia had removed those priceless, symbolic jewels, just to sew them into this doll, so it could watch over Bronya in her place.

In that instant, Bronya realized how ridiculous her stubbornness and hostility had been.

"Mother..." Bronya hugged the Homu doll to her chest, her eyes turning red. "What did she say?"

"She said... she hoped that in this world, you can live happily, according to your own will."

High above the night sky, the transport ship raced toward the sea.

Cocolia stood in the cockpit, her aura sharp enough to cut, leaving the Anti-Entropy crew terrified to even breathe. They couldn't help but feel that this Cocolia held a more oppressive presence than their own Executive.

Soon, the ship crossed the sea, and a massive fleet of Anti-Entropy aerial warships appeared in the distance. The transport docked onto the largest vessel.

Using an entire fleet just to transport me?

Cocolia’s expression remained indifferent, but inwardly, she was stunned by how highly Anti-Entropy valued her.

As the fleet turned toward North America, a commander approached her. "Cocolia... ma'am."

Cocolia swept a cold gaze over him. "Call me Supreme Guardian."

"Yes... Supreme Guardian." The commander snapped to attention instinctively, before remembering that the woman in front of him wasn't actually their Executive.

But by then, Cocolia had already brushed past him, marching toward the bridge with an air of ownership that left the commander seething, yet unable to speak a word.

"Tell me," she commanded, her voice icy, "where is the version of me in this world?"

Facing Cocolia's inquiry, the Anti-Entropy commander stood tall and replied earnestly, "The Executive... is still at the North American Anti-Entropy base. She did not participate in this mission."

"Then take me to see her."

"Yes!"

The fleet pierced through the clouds, sailing across the night sky and over the ocean, heading straight toward North America.

Cocolia stood before a porthole on the bridge, staring out into the pitch-black night and the sea of stars, saying nothing.

She wondered how Bronya and the others were doing now.

With their dormitory blown to pieces, even with Schicksal’s resources, it would probably take a month to rebuild, right?

How truly detestable...

A sour expression clouded Cocolia’s gaze.

She couldn't help but think of the Homu mascot doll she had painstakingly spent over an hour stitching together. She wondered if it had been destroyed in the heat of the battle.

Welt, you are truly a heinous sinner!

After nearly half a day of travel, the fleet finally reached North America.

Cocolia hadn't slept a wink, yet she remained vibrant and sharp. Her violet eyes held a calm, focused intensity, showing not a hint of fatigue.

The Anti-Entropy base was nestled deep within the North American continent, surrounded by rolling mountain ranges and dense forests.

Looking down from the bridge, the base resembled a massive steel beast lying in wait among the mountains, its sheer scale breathtaking.

Densely packed defensive fortifications and towering radar arrays stood watch, while the tarmac below was filled with various fighter jets and transport planes that looked like mere scale models from this altitude.

Cocolia even spotted a number of Anti-Entropy Titan mechs on patrol.

Truth be told, she actually had a soft spot for these Titans.

Especially the sight of a swarm of them charging together—it was a spectacle few could resist, unless, of course, they were the ones being charged at, or if the person standing on the other side was Sirin.

"Please follow me, Supreme Guardian."

The Anti-Entropy commander spoke softly to Cocolia.

Cocolia pulled her gaze away from the porthole, nodded with a nonchalant expression, and turned to walk out with the commander.

They soon boarded a helicopter, descending toward the landing pad in the base’s core sector.

When the hatch opened, Cocolia stepped onto the gangway. Her boots clicked against the metal, a sound that was crisp yet heavy.

All around, Anti-Entropy soldiers and Titans stood in formation, watching her with solemn, heavy gazes.

Cocolia knew that the emotions they felt toward her must be incredibly complex.

After all, she was the spitting image of the Executive currently standing before her.

"Welcome to Anti-Entropy, 'me' from another world."

"Hmm." Cocolia met her gaze. Her violet eyes were filled with a critical and serious scrutiny; there was not a trace of surprise at seeing another version of herself.

"You said you could help me. I want to know, how exactly do you intend to do that?"

The Executive did not answer immediately.

She simply turned slightly and gestured with an inviting hand.

"Let’s talk somewhere else. This isn't the place for such a conversation."

Cocolia glanced at her, did not refuse, and started walking toward the tallest fortress. The Executive walked alongside her. Neither spoke; only the sound of their boots echoing on the metal floor filled the corridor.

Their capes swayed in the air behind them.

Though they shared a face, their temperaments were distinct—one carried the air of an administrator, the other that of a general.

Yet, both possessed a sharp, decisive glint in their eyes, and both radiated a subtle, maternal aura.

As they entered the fortress, Cocolia noticed a squad of soldiers or a few idling Titans at every turn.

The more she saw, the more she liked it.

Compared to the peaceful, idyllic St. Freya Academy, this place felt like an entirely different genre—it was as if they existed on different layers of reality.

Cocolia sighed silently to herself.

Before long, the two arrived at a room on the top floor of the fortress.

The Executive pressed her palm against the sensor beside the door, and the heavy metal barrier slid open in silence.

"Please, come in."

Cocolia stepped inside first, her eyes sweeping across the room.

It appeared to be a tactical command center. It was quite spacious, with a massive holographic table in the center displaying the defensive layout of the entire North American base.

The walls were embedded with screens of various sizes, showing surveillance footage from all across the base.

In the corner stood a desk piled high with thick files and a desk lamp, and hanging on the wall behind the desk was an Anti-Entropy flag.

The room’s aesthetic exuded a military simplicity and severity.

"Have a seat."

"Hmph."

Cocolia didn't stand on ceremony and sat down in a chair beside the table.

The Executive turned to a small bar in the corner, picked up a teapot with a distinctly Russian style, retrieved two teacups from a cabinet, and then glanced back at Cocolia.

"Black tea. Is that acceptable?"

"Anything is fine."

Cocolia nodded, her expression remaining serious and calm.

Moments later, the Executive returned with two cups of black tea and set one in front of Cocolia.

Cocolia picked up the cup and took a light sip.

The tea was rich and mellow—it was high-quality black tea.

Only in this current identity could she actually taste it; if she were someone else, she’d probably just complain that it was too hot.

Cocolia’s gaze remained fixed on the Executive, her violet eyes sharp and unyielding.

"You can talk now."

Cocolia set the cup down and looked at the Executive, her voice calm as she asked, "How do you intend to help me, and what exactly do you want to get from me in return?"

The Executive sat down across from her, lifted her own teacup, gently blew the steam away, and then spoke in a measured, deliberate tone.

"Before I answer that, I have a question for you."

"Speak." Cocolia furrowed her brows.

Back at St. Freya Academy, the Executive Cocolia hadn't been like this.

The version of her that had tried so hard to manipulate her seemed like a completely different person from this slow, composed woman sitting before her now.

"Your world... Belobog. Why did it collapse?"

Hearing this, a flash of confusion crossed Cocolia’s eyes.

"The Eternal Freeze, the exhaustion of resources, and the Fragmentum—which is similar to the Honkai in your world," Cocolia said in a calm voice, though her tone carried a bone-chilling coldness. "Do you need me to explain it in detail?"

"No need." The Executive shook her head. "I don't want to know the cause, but rather..."

She leaned forward slowly. Her chest, unbound and unconstrained, shifted with a distinct, eye-catching bounce.

"Have you ever thought about solving these problems in a... less conventional way?"

Cocolia’s fingers paused.

Are you kidding me right now?!

At this moment, Cocolia truly felt that the Executive might actually want to pilot the Selene into St. Freya Academy and stir up some major chaos!

She felt incredibly fortunate that she had come herself; otherwise, a "dark-souled reunion" tragedy might have genuinely unfolded!

But Cocolia did not snap immediately.

She simply watched the Executive in silence, waiting for her to continue.

If everything was as dire as she suspected...

Even if it meant being abandoned by Bronya for the rest of her life, she would not hesitate to strike the Executive down.

The Executive didn't drag it out any further. She interlaced her fingers on the table, her gaze locked onto Cocolia.

"Many years ago, I led an experiment."

Cocolia remained composed and calm, keeping up the act of waiting for an explanation.

But in her heart, she already knew what the Executive was talking about.

"That experiment was codenamed X-10."

As expected.

The Executive’s tone was calm, but Cocolia could hear a hint of complex emotion in her voice—a mix of regret and unwillingness.

"The goal of the X-10 experiment was to artificially stimulate Honkai Energy Adaptability in the human body, allowing ordinary people to obtain power comparable to Valkyries. But... the experiment never succeeded."

The Executive’s voice dropped low.

Listening to her, the unease in Cocolia’s heart grew heavier. She couldn't help but sigh.

At this distance, it would be effortless to kill the Executive.

"As the experiment progressed, the subjects began showing symptoms of Honkai erosion. Some lost their minds, others saw their bodies begin to disintegrate, and some... were lost beyond the world."

Cocolia’s fingers tapped lightly on the table.

The Sea of Quanta. Seele.

Cocolia remained silent as the Executive continued.

"But now you are here. You are an existence from beyond this world, and you possess power completely different from what our world holds."

"But what does all of this have to do with me, or my Belobog?"

Cocolia cut the Executive off, her voice low as she questioned her.

"It’s simple." The Executive looked at Cocolia, a repressed fanaticism glinting in her eyes. "Although that experiment ultimately failed, we confirmed that the direction was correct. All the data we accumulated and the techniques we fumbled through in the laboratory can be applied to your world!"

Keep spouting nonsense, why don't you.

Cocolia stared at her indifferently.

Even if I were truly the Supreme Guardian of Belobog, I couldn't take anything from your world back with me.

Besides...

Nobody in Belobog even has Stigmata!

What a twisted soul!

Cocolia was now certain: the Executive was just trying to scam her!

"The essence of the X-10 experiment is to artificially trigger the potential within the human body, allowing ordinary people to transcend their limits."

The Executive pulled up a video file, which contained the original records of the X-10 experiment.

After showing it to Cocolia, she spoke with an urgent, desperate air: "And the plight your world faces—the Eternal Freeze, the Fragmentum, the depleted resources!”

“When it comes down to it, it’s all because you lack the strength to fight those disasters. What if... I could make every single person in Belobog possess power comparable to a Valkyrie?"

"But you already said it yourself." Cocolia’s voice remained cold. "The X-10 experiment resulted in the subjects either dying or being lost beyond the world. This technology... regardless of whether it could even be applied to Belobog, the consequences it brings are far too severe."

The Executive fell silent at this.

Cocolia watched her, deciding to give the Executive one last chance.

She took a deep breath, stood up, and looked at the Executive, a madness mirroring the Executive's own appearing in her eyes.

"However... I have a better idea."

"What?" The Executive looked up at Cocolia.

"In my world, there was a power... the power that created the Fragmentum! It is like the Honkai, but a Honkai with its own self-awareness!" Cocolia’s tone was filled with excitement, laced with a hint of madness and obsession.

"It told me... the fall of Belobog is inevitable! But it promised me a new world!"

Upon hearing this, the Executive’s first reaction was that Cocolia had been deceived.

A new world promised by the Will of Honkai?

Had this world not suffered enough at the hands of the Honkai?

She had already been forced to sacrifice the children in her orphanage for those cruel experiments. And according to previous intelligence reports, the Belobog Cocolia ruled was already the last sprout of hope on that planet.

"As long as the Fragmentum consumes Belobog... as long as everyone enters the Fragmentum, then everyone can be reborn! Within the Fragmentum, they will become eternal existences!"

Cocolia’s voice now was even more obsessive than when the Executive had tried to seduce her into joining Anti-Entropy on screen.

The Executive couldn't help but imagine it...

Everyone, including all the children in the orphanage, bathed in the Honkai disaster...

Her hands involuntarily clenched tight.

In the orphanage, only one child possessed a Stigmata.

That was Seele.

She might survive, but the other children...

"So!" Cocolia looked at the Executive, her eyes burning with intensity. "Why don't we cooperate? Instead of following your X-10 experiment, testing step by agonizing step! Why don't we... turn the entire world into the testing ground for the X-10 experiment!"

"..."

A look of shock appeared in the Executive’s eyes. She stared at the fanatical Cocolia in disbelief.

She suddenly felt that Cocolia, this version of herself from another world, might have already snapped under the extreme pressure.

But then, she felt a chill run down her spine...

She realized that she actually... found herself agreeing with Cocolia’s decision?

"I thought I was alone." Cocolia’s gaze suddenly calmed down. She looked at the Executive, her eyes softening with a strange joy. "But... I never imagined that 'me' in another world would share the same thoughts."

I don't! I wouldn't!

The Executive’s expression darkened.

"Let me help you shroud the entire world in Honkai... and then, everyone will become eternal beings within the Honkai!"

A joyful smile spread across Cocolia’s face, as if she were already looking upon paradise.

"And then... I will take your precious experience back to my world... and let Belobog, too, bathe in the glory of the Stellaron!"

As Cocolia finished speaking, the Executive was certain that she saw Cocolia’s skin dim for a fleeting moment.

It turned pitch black, and countless stars flickered within it, looking just like malicious eyes staring at her from the darkness.

But in the next instant, Cocolia’s skin returned to normal.

"You..." The Executive took a deep breath, pulled her gaze away from Cocolia’s skin, and met her eyes with a grave, severe expression.

"That is... going too far."

"That is... going too far."

When Cocolia heard the Executive's words, she nearly burst out laughing.

Yet, this also made her breathe a sigh of relief.

After all, if the Executive had truly been intent on carrying out that plan, she would have had no choice but to resort to a backstabbing maneuver.

"For the sake of our civilization's survival, experiencing these birth pangs is a price worth paying." Cocolia fixed her gaze on the icy-faced Executive, her voice dropping to a low, heavy register.

"Just like the agony an infant endures during birth—the moment that first cry of life rings out, it all becomes worth it. Since you have already conducted these experiments yourself, you of all people should understand this better than I do!"

The Executive stared at Cocolia, remaining silent for a long time.

She felt that Cocolia had lost her mind.

To turn the entire civilization into a proving ground for the X-10 experiment.

Does Cocolia really have no idea how many people would perish because of this?

"That voice... the voice of the Stellaron. It told me that Belobog can be reborn through destruction."

Cocolia clenched her fists tightly, the rationality in her eyes vanishing, replaced by a paranoia and madness that even the Executive found chilling.

"It promised me a world without poverty, cold, or pain! A world where people no longer have to beg for survival like prisoners, a world we can protect for eternity! Why is it that when faced with an undeniable power, the first thing we do is resist, cover our ears, and refuse to listen to what it asks of us?"

The Executive listened to Cocolia, her expression growing darker and more somber. She was reminded of the Second Eruption, and all those who didn't have to die.

"You're insane..." the Executive said, her voice cold, each syllable weighted with disbelief.

"No! I have simply shed the deeply rooted ignorance and cowardice that fester within humanity! By casting them aside, we can break the chains that bind us! Whether it's the Stellaron or the Honkai, they will lead humanity toward evolution! They will!"

"Enough!"

The Executive barked, cutting Cocolia off.

She dared not listen any further! Because, deep within her, there was actually a fleeting moment where she felt that Cocolia might be right.

"Let's put an end to this conversation." The Executive closed her eyes and took a deep breath, her tone laced with unmistakable exhaustion.

Cocolia looked at her, a glimmer of disappointment surfacing in her purple eyes. It was as if someone walking the same path as her had suddenly turned back.

That flash of disappointment pierced the Executive’s heart like a needle.

She couldn't help but reflect—was something wrong with her, or was there something wrong with her counterpart from the other world?

"I'll have someone arrange a place for you to rest." The Executive turned toward the window, her back to Cocolia, her voice heavy with weariness. "Just… get some good rest for now."

"Fine." Cocolia sighed, the paranoia in her eyes fading, reverting back to the rational Supreme Guardian she was. "We'll talk again once you've had time to think it over."

Cocolia turned and headed for the door, following an attendant as it opened. Her expression remained neutral, her stride steady, showing not a hint of her inner turmoil.

But inside, she was quietly letting out a breath.

That was close...

She felt as though she had nearly convinced the Executive.

If she had actually succeeded and forced the Executive to start considering the expansion of the X-10 experiment, she would have found herself in a tight spot.

She would have had to pretend that the Stellaron had seized control of her and pulled a massive surprise on the Executive as a last resort.

Cocolia wiped a bead of cold sweat from her mind.

However...

As she followed the attendant, a spark of curiosity ignited in her heart.

Rest? Was she being sent to the orphanage?

She couldn't help but be intrigued. She wanted to see Rozaliya, Liliya, and the children who only ever appeared as background characters in the orphanage.

Oh, and Sin Mal! It had been so long since she’d seen her; she actually missed her quite a bit. But she was even more eager to see the shock on Sin Mal’s face when she spotted her.

That would certainly be amusing!

Just as those thoughts crossed her mind, the attendant stopped before a door.

"Supreme Guardian, this is your quarters."

"Understood."

Cocolia nodded and pushed the door open. Her footsteps faltered slightly as she stepped inside.

It was a luxurious room. Spacious and airy, though it followed the cold, utilitarian aesthetic of Anti-Entropy, the furniture and decor carried an air of understated elegance.

There was even a private bathroom with a tub. In the corner stood a small bar stocked with a few bottles of what looked like pricey red wine and some Russian snacks.

Cocolia’s gaze swept over the furniture.

Not the orphanage, then...

Just a guest room in the Anti-Entropy base. Luxurious, yes, but... Cocolia let out a soft sigh, feeling a touch disappointed.

"Supreme Guardian, if you need anything, feel free to press the call button on the nightstand," the attendant said respectfully from the doorway. "I am at your service."

"Very well."

The attendant nodded, turned, and left, closing the door behind them.

Cocolia stood still, quietly surveying the room before walking to the window to gaze outside. From here, she could see the dense forest outside the base and the mountain ranges in the distance. It was quite majestic.

Yet, Cocolia couldn't help but sigh again.

She missed Mei and the others. She wondered how they were doing. They must have moved into Theresa's villa by now, right?

It was large enough; once they cleared out a few rooms, it would be plenty of space for them to live two to a room. Theresa wouldn't have to commute between the villa and the dorms every day, either. She’d probably love that.

Lost in these thoughts, Cocolia sat by the room's bookshelf, pulled out a volume, and began to read in silence.

By the next morning—her third day in this world—a soft knock sounded at the door.

"Come in."

The door pushed open, and the Executive entered.

She was still wearing that solemn, slightly alluring military uniform with her cape, her long blonde hair cascading loosely behind her. She was holding a tray with two servings of breakfast.

"I brought you some breakfast." The Executive walked into the room, her gaze finding Cocolia, who was sitting at the desk with a book in her hands.

"Oh, thank you." Cocolia set the book down, stood up, and walked over.

On the tray held by the Executive sat two identical breakfasts.

There were slices of Russian rye bread, cut to a uniform thickness, with crusts toasted to a golden, crispy perfection, radiating the distinct, toasted aroma of baked wheat.

Beside them were two bowls of borscht, vibrant and red, releasing the rich, savory scent of beef mingled with the sweet fragrance of tomatoes.

Large, tender chunks of beef bobbed in the soup, looking absolutely mouth-watering, along with various diced vegetables drifting in the broth.

"Sit."

Cocolia and the Executive sat down at a small round table in the room. Their expressions had softened, settling into a quiet, domestic comfort.

"Try it and see how it is."

"Mhm."

Cocolia didn't stand on ceremony. She picked up a slice of the rye bread and took a small bite.

The crust was crisp, the center soft, and as she chewed, the rich, earthy taste of wheat bloomed on her tongue.

She picked up her spoon and took a sip of the borscht. The tangy zest of the tomatoes and the deep, savory umami of the beef blossomed in her mouth, warming her entire body.

"It tastes wonderful."

Cocolia nodded in genuine appreciation.

The Executive smiled slightly and began her own breakfast.

The only sounds in the room were the clinking of spoons against ceramic and the occasional quiet sound of chewing.

When they finished, Cocolia looked at the Executive, curiosity piqued. "Did you make this?"

"I did." The Executive nodded, watching Cocolia with a light, amused smile. "What, surprised?"

"Mhm. It’s delicious." Cocolia’s voice remained calm, though there was a newfound softness in her tone. "I didn't expect you to know how to cook."

"One has to learn eventually." The Executive set down her spoon, wiped the corner of her mouth with a napkin, and her eyes clouded with memories. "At the orphanage, the children always loved my cooking. That little one, Rozaliya—she always ate the most. She could put away two big bowls all by herself."

"An orphanage."

Cocolia murmured the words to herself.

"What, is it different in your world?"

"Mhm. I am the Supreme Guardian; I don't have the luxury of time to care for many children." Cocolia met the Executive’s gaze, her expression softening. "Because of that, I have only one child: Bronya."

As she said this, Cocolia watched the Executive, her mind racing.

What was the Executive's true objective in bringing her here? Was she still obsessed with the X-10 experiment?

Cocolia was genuinely curious.

They chatted for a while longer, but the conversation stayed light, circling around the topic of the orphanage. Eventually, the Executive decided to take Cocolia on a tour of the base to show her the true strength of Anti-Entropy.

Next...

Cocolia saw the new Titan mechs being developed within the facility, along with various models currently rolling off the mass-production assembly lines.

Beyond that, there was the base’s recruit training camp.

The young men and women there underwent military-grade training and discipline, entirely different from the Valkyries at St. Freya Academy.

Or rather...

The way St. Freya trained their Valkyries was truly unique in the world.

This place felt distinctly more like an army.

Cocolia secretly committed the layout of the base to memory, calculating the best escape routes should she ever need to leave.

By the time they finished touring the base, both women maintained a tacit agreement: neither brought up the X-10 experiment.

That topic was a thorn wedged between them, and for the moment, neither was willing to touch it.

By the afternoon:

"That’s enough for now." The Executive stopped and turned to look at Cocolia. "I’m taking you somewhere."

"Where to?"

The Executive didn't answer, her lips curling into a gentle, knowing smile.

"You'll see when we get there."

Cocolia didn't even need to guess; she knew exactly where the Executive meant.

Ten minutes later, a military-green Humvee rumbled out of the Anti-Entropy base gates.

Cocolia sat in the passenger seat, her gaze fixed on the landscape rushing past the window.

She watched the dense forests and the rolling mountain ranges, catching glimpses of birds startled by the roar of the engine, fluttering up from the treetops with a rhythmic flap of wings.

"It’s beautiful..."

Cocolia sighed softly.

The Executive caught the remark, and a flicker of curiosity stirred within her. "In your world... is there nothing left outside of Belobog?"

"No."

Cocolia pulled her gaze away and nodded faintly. "Outside the suburbs of Belobog, the snowfields are filled with nothing but endless Fragmentum monsters. As far as the eye can see, there isn't a single trace of life."

The Executive didn't press further.

She felt... perhaps she now understood one of the reasons behind Cocolia’s extremism.

Half an hour passed as the Executive drove.

Cocolia glanced at the Executive’s profile, watching her focus intently on the road ahead. As the Executive's expression relaxed into something calm and gentle, Cocolia couldn't help but ask:

"Where are we going? You seem very at ease."

"To the orphanage I run," the Executive said, her voice soft. "That’s where I keep the children I took in during the Second Eruption and the wars against the warlords."

"I see." Cocolia was silent for a moment before nodding, her expression betraying no dissatisfaction.

She didn't ask why the Executive was bringing her here.

"Also."

The Executive spoke again, her voice steady. "I won't go back on my word. I will hand over the data for the X-10 experiment to you later."

"Good." At those words, the corner of Cocolia's mouth lifted ever so slightly.

But the Executive felt a sudden wave of uncertainty regarding her own decision.

The X-10 experiment had never succeeded once. And with the planet Jarilo-VI down to its last city, she had sensed from Cocolia’s tone that she might be considering letting the Fragmentum consume it entirely.

Yet, in the intelligence she had gathered earlier, Cocolia had also sought help from Schicksal, hoping for Belobog’s survival.

Was the only reason she had come to Anti-Entropy because of that search for hope?

Did she—by bringing up the X-10 experiment—cause Cocolia to fundamentally change her mindset, resolving to let the Stellaron swallow Belobog whole?

As these thoughts swirled, the Executive felt a complicated surge of emotions.

Cocolia noticed the Executive’s occasional, lingering glances, feeling a pang of confusion. What exactly was running through the Executive’s mind right now?

Still...

She felt fairly certain that the Executive was unlikely to drive the Selene straight into St. Freya Academy just to use it as a giant firework anymore.
