In this very long, really too long DEVLOG, I answer all the questions I've been asked and even those you don't dare ask, and... well, it's going to be long, and I'm giving a lot of information.
....
DEVLOGS and NEWS.
I have decided to create two DEVLOGS instead of just one. Why? Because sooner or later the DEVLOGS will be shared, and that is something I do not want.
What I say in these DEVLOGS is for you, my Patreons and subscribers, my financial backers. I give you information that doesn't concern those who just want to play the game without funding my work. So, I create a short post with NEWS for everyone once a month, and a DEVLOG every monday, to tell you, my funders, exactly what I'm doing, and I also tell you about the worlds I'm creating. I therefore ask you not to share the DEVGLOGS. I create the NEWS so that it can be public. Thank you.
As I mentioned, I took this week to write, think about new game mechanics, and make some progress on the locations and characters in ATC.
This December is dedicated to the development of ATC. With the release of the first version of SMTL (today for CURIOUS), I need to make a lot of progress on ATC.
I still won't be talking about SMTL, since not all tiers have been able to discover the game yet.
Strawberry Pythonator has created some incredible features in the game, and we are currently in the testing phase, but I'm going to tell you about them anyway. We now have quests in ATC, and much more. When I talk about quests, some people think of Sandbox and open world. No, ATC is neither a sandbox nor an open world. Quests just let you know where you are and what you haven't managed to do to unlock a particular scene or bonus. I'll be doing a short introduction to this system with a little video very soon.
I have finished creating all the environments that the prologue should include, as well as all the lighting and situations. So, I think that with two months of development, the update will be ready. This is not a date, nor a promise, just an estimate now that I know exactly what I have left to do.
I will now tell you a little about how ATC was conceived and how I created it.
ATC tells the story of a man with a rather... interesting and traumatic past. I'm not throwing you into the present with hints about this past. You will play out the events that led MC to become the man he is. So there will be two timelines in the game, but no time travel. You will still play out flashbacks, but very long ones, and you will also play out the present. I'm still thinking about allowing you to skip the past, but... we have a difference of opinion on this, so... we'll see.
The main focus of ATC is managing the Academy and... guiding students in their lives and studies ;) So, I think that if you want to, you should be able to avoid everything else.
Trans people and options in the game.
Yes, there will be trans characters in the game. Why? Because I want to, and it's my story and my game. Like almost everything else in ATC, trans characters will be optional. So if you don't want them, they won't exist. I spent a long time looking for a way to make trans integration completely optional, so that those who don't want it don't even have the option to say yes. Once again, the brilliant idea came from Strawberry Pythonator, whom I'll now refer to as SP ;) So...
We're going to create DLC. Not paid DLC, but DLCs that contains all the optional scenes with certain characters. So if you don't want to play with trans characters, don't install the DLC.
If you want that content, install the DLC and they'll be in the game.
Some people ask me if trans characters will exist with a different gender in the game if this DLC is not installed. No. I don't see the point. It's not a question of workload. It's a choice.
I write characters with their past, their future, their suffering, and their personality. I don't want to write a character twice with different personalities. Some people do that, but I'm incapable of it.
Once again, I want to make this clear. I am not sectarian and I am actually very tolerant. I understand that some people don't want trans people, and I understand their choice.
Others want trans people, and I respect their choice. So, since it's all about choice, I'll leave the choice up to you. I know some people will complain, but that's the way it is, it's my decision.
I wanted to continue this DEVLOG and talk to you about the animations in the game, but I'll save that for next week. This DEVLOG is getting way too long :)
Thank you for your support and appreciation for our work. Soon, 4K series will be available (this month) for ART LOVERS.
