At the start of this year, I introduced a monthly hang out for the Lucky Tier on Patreon. These are just an hour long group hang and conversation, and so far it's been extremely fun! I get to talk with my very smart peers and members of the Lucky Tier about whatever is on our minds.
For May, I recorded our chat, and I laughed so much during this talk. And man, I wish I had better adjusted my audio settings because my laugh is loud af. Anyway, I recorded this chat for you! Some notes before you begin:
Sorry about the audio quality. I haven't opened OBS in ages. I had the desktop audio turned way down on accident so I spent the next three hours splitting the audio track every time someone else spoke in order to lower my volume and raise everyone else's volume. It won't happen again.
We talk about a variety of fetishes. Don't listen on speaker at work, I guess. Or do, idk where you work.
We talk about censorship, primarily in the light of the recent ripples Kickstarter made in announcing (and walking back) their anti-mature-content rules. (Side note: in uploading this to Patreon, I discovered that since I draw 18+ comics, I cannot upload video to Patreon. Very cool stuff in this world. That's why it's uploaded to a drive and linked here. ugh)
We also talk about traditional publishing and why I have a book on submission even though self-pub is way more gratifying.
There are extremely minor spoilers for Backrooms mentioned in this video. Skip 31:30-33:44 if you want to avoid Backrooms movie talk.
I compare Iron Lung to Backrooms as if they are equally indie, when in reality Backrooms is an A24 film. My point about YouTubers making movies still stands, though.
I don't know how I'll release future conversations, or even if they will be recorded/released at all. The best way to join the conversation is to join the Lucky tier. That said, I really like the idea of having these recorded and available on Patreon. I'm still thinking about what I want to do as a whole with this series, so please enjoy this exploratory phase <3
