Hey all,
I wanted to drop a quick line on the next update, Version 7.1.3.
You'll see version 7.1.3 drop soon but you may not notice much of a difference interface wise. 7.1.3 is focused only on updating Electron and Node frameworks. This should provide better application security and better performance, among other things.
With 7.1.3, Stacher will be running Electron version 38.3.0.
While it may seem like Stacher is unchanged in this update, upgrading Electron (especially in this case) can cause existing code to "break". This is due to how the Electron API's have changed over time. These regressions needed to be fixed and so, Stacher has been updated to accommodate the latest Electron framework.
Some of the things upgrading Electron had broken in Stacher:
Drag and Drop functionality (Library to Queue, Items from Stacher to other apps)
Importing into the Library
Tray Icon Not Rendering
Audio visualizations in Library freeze
Ability to "seek" media in Library media player would cause the player to crash
So, while it may seem like nothing has changed, this update includes the upgraded Electron framework and "fixes"/upgrades for the regressions.
If you notice any other regressions or issues within Stacher specifically (not 3rd party dependencies), you can report it directly in the app through the Developer Chat in the bottom left corner of the application and I'll try to get those resolved as soon as possible.
If you don't have the developer chat (a Premium feature), rate Stacher with the hearts control and a Feedback form will appear where you can describe the regressions/issues you are experiencing.
This update has been tested on MacOS Sequoia, Windows 11, and Ubuntu 22.04.
