At some point in the future, I would like to add functionality directly into Stacher that will allow you to easily backup and restore your Stacher library. In the meantime though, I thought it might be helpful if I provided information on how to manually back up and restore the Library.
Stacher maintains a local SQLite database that contains all of the information required for your library. This includes metadata, thumbnail information, and location to your media on hardware among other things.
Stacher does not store anything in the "cloud". Everything you do within Stacher is local to your machine and thus, if the library files somehow become corrupted, it may be difficult to get that information back.

Steps to manually backup your Stacher Library
In Stacher, you'll find a Tools menu at the top of the window (or in the Menu bar on Mac OS)
Click the Tools menu and select "Open Stacher Home Directory"
The Stacher Home Directory is a folder on your system where dependencies and other settings are stored.
You will find a folder within the Stacher Home Directory called "storage". That folder contains all the information that Stacher needs for the Library.
To Create a Backup: Simply copy the storage folder to a backup location. Copy. Do not move it. Make sure your backup location is secure and can be accessible in the event you need to recover data from it.
To Recover From a Backup: Open your Stacher Home directory as previously described and, once open, Quit Stacher. It's important that Stacher isn't running when manually restoring the database to prevent data corruption.
Now, simply copy your "storage" folder from your backup location into your Stacher home directory, overwriting the existing "storage" folder if prompted.
Restart Stacher and your Library should be restored to the point at which you originally created your backup.
Note that if you overwrite your "storage" folder with a backup, anything that you had previously done before restoring your backup will be lost. Restoring does not merge you backup with your current library. It simply restores the library to a previous point in time, specifically the point at which you created your backup.
Also note that restoring your library only restores data that Stacher maintains! It does not restore any media content on your hard drive as that is managed externally to Stacher. Stacher Library keeps references to media locations on your hard disk. If the media is moved or corrupted, that will need to be resolved separately.
