Have you ever needed to quickly transfer a media file from your computer to your phone?
Sometimes that simple task can be frustrating with either Bluetooth, transferring through online cloud platforms, connecting your phone directly, etc. The simplest solution is probably offered within Apple's air drop functionality, but you have to be fully immersed into the Apple ecosystem in order for that to work.
I've been working on a new feature in Stacher that will allow you to easily transfer any media file from Stacher's Library to any device that can scan a QR code. This should work from any desktop operating system to any mobile device with QR scanning functionality.
How do you do it?
You'll be able to click "Send to mobile device" from the library to be prompted with a unique, secure, and temporary QR code. Scan it with your phone and the file will be sent to your phone!
How does this work?
Stacher creates a QR code that allows the file to temporarily be accessed via your local network. The access will either expire once you fetch the file via the QR code or after 15 minutes.
The file transfer happens over your local network. The nice thing about this is your files remain on your private network, never going over the internet, making the process fast and secure.
Something to consider is that both devices need to be connected to the same WIFI/home network.
You should never disable your firewall. However, depending on which firewall software you use, you may get notified that the media file your sending to a mobile device is, well, being accessed by your other device.
In some cases, the firewall might simply block the transfer altogether without notifying you. So, if you use this feature and are having issues, your firewall would be the first place to look.

This feature will be available for Stacher Premium Users soon!
