Happy New Years from the Liminal Horror team! 2025 has been a great year for Liminal Horror, and sort of marked a new era for us as we continue to grow.
LOOKING BACK
2025 marked some big accomplishments.
We successfully launched the Liminal Horror Deluxe Edition (see below for an update).
The Mall Remastered won an ENnie (silver for best adventure-short form)
We launched the Liminal Horror Patreon (for both our free newsletter service and with some additional paid options as well).
We had two successful game jams:
Liminal Horror Halloween Monster Jam
We released two starter scenarios:
Einfühlung: A Liminal Horror Starter Scenario - An Introductory Scenario for Liminal Horror
Stopover at the Shelterwood Inn - A starter scenario for Liminal Horror
We released the first issue of our anthology zine: Case Files 01 - which includes the fantastic supplementary rules set Documentary Mode
We did an entire revamp of the main Liminal Horror Website (a future newsletter will dive into the new format).
The Liminal Horror Library grew to 469 entries (and counting)
DISCORD COMMUNITY
If our records are correct, today officially marks two years to the day that we launched our Discord Server, which has grown from a little limited experiment to nearly 1,000 members. It has been a great joy of mine to log on everyday and see folks excited to get their horrors to the table. If you haven't joined, it is a great place for all (players, facilitators, and designers)
LOOKING FORWARD TO 2026
While 2025 was a big year, we expect 2026 to continue with the amazing momentum that has built up for Liminal Horror and the surrounding community.
DELUXE EDITION UPDATES
Moving into 2026, we are still working on bringing the Deluxe Edition home. The entire manuscript is in the layout document right now, but through this process we found the holes in the text or places where we just don't have enough space to cram what we've written in, so we're currently in the midst of the final round of major revisions before we send out a preview to backers. While we were hoping to have that wrapped by today, this thing is a behemoth, so it's taking a bit longer than we'd like. However, it should be in a viewable state Soon™ .
Once that goes out, the doc will get sent off to our editor for one last pass through, internal hyperlinking will be done, and some additional design work will need to be done. Most of that should move fairly quick.
CONVENTIONS
The cat was kinda let out of the bag a little early, so we're happy to announce that Liminal Horror will be making it's way out to conventions this year. For now, this is going to be in a limited and local capacity, but we'll see where the future takes us.
First up is PDX OSR Con in February (2/21/26), then we'll be at Between Two Cons in June (6/26-6/27). If you're in the PNW, come on down if you want to chat and play some games.
At PDX OSR Con, we're going to debut our new convention special: Outbreak. This is a custom setup where sessions will be run simultaneously across three tables, each showing a different side of an outbreak event, with the events at the tables able to directly impact each other in a few different ways.
THE FUTURE
Once the DE is wrapped up, we will be shifting gears into our sprawling to-do list. Plans for 2026 currently include:
Case Files, Vol 2
The Bureau Remastered
Unnannounced Module. More to come on this, but we've got something a little different planned.
Another game jam. Theme still under consideration, but this will likely be around the time the DE drops in stores.
The DE launch party. No idea what this looks like yet. Maybe an in-person event, maybe a discord server thing. We'll see!
As always, Liminal Horror wouldn't be what it is without you all. Thank you for your continued support and being a part of this fantastic community!
Talk to you soon (when we share out about the Deluxe Edition preview pdf)!
