Introducing the 4K-EQ - Free SSL 4000 Console EQ for Linux
Dusk Audio’s first plugin is here.
The 4K-EQ is a native Linux plugin (LV2 & VST3) that emulates the legendary 4000 series console EQ - the sound that shaped countless hit records from the '80s through today.
What makes it different:
This isn't a basic EQ with an SSL skin. The 4K-EQ models the actual behavior of the hardware:
Brown & Black modes - Switch between E-Series and G-Series console voicings, each with their own harmonic character
Full signal path modeling - Input transformers, NE5534 op-amp behavior, output transformers (E-Series), asymmetric clipping, slew-rate limiting
Frequency-dependent saturation - Transformers saturate more at low frequencies, just like the real hardware
Drive control - Push it clean or slam it for that "console pushed hard" sound (up to 13-16x gain)
2x/4x oversampling - Clean anti-aliasing for professional results
4-band parametric EQ - LF, LMF, HMF, HF with Q controls, plus HPF and LPF
Always free. Native Linux. No Wine. No yabridge. No hassle.

If you find these plugins useful, consider supporting development - your name gets added to the plugin credits, and you help me build more tools for the Linux audio community.
I have tested on Ardour and Reaper and so far so good. If you run into issues, let me know and I will make improvements along the way!
More plugins coming soon.
GLIBC_2.35 or higher is needed to run.
