Cherry Cache v0.5 is here — Play Sims 4 without leaving the app
Big one this time. The single most-requested workflow has finally landed.
▶ Play Sims 4
A green Play button right at the top of Cherry Cache. Click it. Your game launches.
No more Cherry Cache → Apply → minimize → find the Sims 4 shortcut → wait. One button, you're in.
It works with literally every Sims 4 install. EA App, Origin, Steam, 🏴☠️, custom path — doesn't matter. Cherry Cache hunts down TS4_x64.exe in all the usual places (and if you have a weird setup, it asks once, saves the path, never asks again).
The smart bit: if you have pending enable/disable changes when you hit Play, Cherry Cache auto-applies them before launching.
Smart import sorting
Drop a hair mod into Cherry Cache. It notices it's hair. It puts it in your Hair folder.
Three modes in Settings: Off (nothing changes), Auto (silently sorts), Ask (shows you the plan first, you confirm). Works on .package, .ts4script, and even .zip files (auto-extracts the contents into the right folder).
If your Mods folder is already organized by category — Hair, Furniture, Clothing, etc. — your new imports will join the right pile automatically.
Recycle Bin with a memory
The Recycle Bin now keeps a Recently Deleted timeline — every file you removed in the last 7 days, with the exact time and folder, ready to restore in one click.
Permanent deletes get logged too: "permanently deleted simstrouble_Hair_v2.package on May 28, 2026". Audit your own cleanups, see what you got rid of and when. The log trims itself to the last 7 days so it never gets unwieldy.
The Settings popover consolidates theme picker, import-sort mode, and folder paths into one tidy menu. No more hunting for that switch.
And a small one but huge if you've ever looked for it: an Open disabled-mods folder button. Your toggled-off mods live in a sibling folder Cherry Cache manages — now you can pop it open in Explorer without remembering the path.
How to upgrade
Same as always, download the new installer below, run it, done. Your existing Mods folder, disabled stash, recycle bin, favorites, settings, and themes all carry through.
One-time $3. Lifetime access to every future Cherry Cache update.
If you find anything weird, DM me. Every quirky install, every weird folder layout, every idea or suggestion I hear about makes the next version better.
v0.5 turns Cherry Cache into an actual launcher.
