Here's everything that changed.
Disabling a mod never loses it
The most common worry I've heard is "I disabled some mods, where did they go?" The answer has always been the same: they get moved to a separate folder that The Sims 4 ignores, fully intact, ready to switch back on. Nothing is ever deleted. But the app wasn't saying that loudly enough. So now it does, in every place you might look:
A "Disabled mods" button right in the toolbar. A folder icon with a little "off" marker. One click opens the exact folder where your disabled mods live.
A sidebar chip with a live count. It shows how many mods are currently disabled and reads "Lives outside your Mods folder. Click to open." So you always know the number and the location at a glance.
A click-to-open confirmation after every change. When you Apply changes that disable mods, the popup now says "Moved 5 mods to your disabled folder · click to open." Click it and you're taken straight there.
A full explainer when you filter to Disabled. The moment you view your disabled mods, a banner appears spelling out where they physically are, with the actual folder path shown, plus a link to open it.
Same message, same folder path, in all four places. Whichever one your eye lands on first, you get the answer.
Find Broken Mod is calmer and safer
The broken-mod finder temporarily switches off batches of mods while you test, which understandably makes people nervous. So every screen of it now opens with a clear safety banner:
Your mods are safe. Cherry Cache temporarily moves disabled mods to a separate folder outside your Mods folder while we test. Nothing is deleted. Hit "Restore everything" anytime to put them all back where they were.
It even shows you the real folder path. And the buttons are now split into two clear choices instead of one ambiguous one:
Restore everything — re-enables every mod the search touched and closes. Your safety net if you want to bail.
Cancel — just closes the window and leaves things as they are, for when you've found something useful and want to keep the current state.
One promise worth spelling out
Restoring a mod, in any way, always puts it back in the exact subfolder it came from. Disabling Mods/BuildBuy/leo-vase.package and turning it back on lands it right back at Mods/BuildBuy/leo-vase.package, never dumped loose at the top. That holds for single toggles, batch Apply, the Recycle Bin's Restore, and Find Broken Mod's Restore Everything. Cherry Cache mirrors your folder structure when it moves things, so reversing a move always lands the file exactly where it started.
The important fix (v0.6.1): no more "lost" mods on OneDrive PCs
While shipping the above, I found and fixed a real bug, and I want to be completely transparent about it.
On some PCs, Windows keeps two Documents folders, a normal one and a OneDrive-synced one, which is the default on a lot of Windows 11 machines. In that situation, Cherry Cache could lose track of which folder your mods lived in during a long Find Broken Mod session. When it happened, disabled mods got moved to a holding folder and the restore step couldn't find them to put them back. It looked like mods had vanished.
To be crystal clear: nothing was ever deleted. Cherry Cache only ever moves files, never erases them. If this happened to you, your CC has been sitting safely in a holding folder the whole time, and this update finds it and brings it back.
What changed under the hood:
Cherry Cache now locks onto your real Mods folder once and never second-guesses it, so it can't drift to the wrong one mid-task. This is the core fix.
Restore now checks every possible location for a mod before giving up, so a misplaced file still comes home to the right spot.
A built-in recovery sweep. If the app finds any mods in a folder an older version lost track of, a green bar appears at the top.
Click it, and everything goes straight back into your Mods folder, in the correct subfolders. You can also run it anytime from Settings → "Recover missing mods." If you don't see that bar, you have nothing stranded and nothing to worry about.
I tested this thoroughly against the exact failure that caused it, plus a pile of edge cases (nested folders, duplicate filenames, mods you intentionally disabled). Recovery only pulls back what was stranded and leaves your intentional choices alone.
