I'm happy to announce that v0.56 is finished! I'm sharing the entire update with you now - with lots of new content for Devon and a shorter but intense update for our bear. Atypically, as it's the middle of the week - but with me leaving for vacations very soon, I wanted to release the update sooner, in case I would have to do any hotfixes.
Devon's update is the meatier of the two, and starts a bit before the end of the previous update - I decided to add another shorter scene with him after the swimming pool sequence. The jump to the newest update will take you right there!
Bjørn's part of the update was all done last week and this week. It's shorter, but also more important - at the very brink of decisive moments. With both, however, I feel like they might benefit from some additional attention later, just a bit of a more relaxed pace and slower writing; I might still expand the scenes a bit in both parts of the update once I'm back to work on v0.57. This time, lamentably, with the time constraints I was working with, the whole update is still a bit barebones.
If you don't know, I'm soon off for a trip to East Asia, flying just this Thursday and travelling across the region for almost a month. I worked hard on v0.56 to have it ready before then, and I'm so glad I succeeded. The process was quick, without all the extra steps I mentioned in the larger devlog last month laying out the new longer development cycle - there's no new music and sadly no illustrations this time either, but it's still a sizeable ~9-10k word update.
As always, there's also a handful of fixes and small improvements for earlier scenes across all routes, but more importantly - Kiseki, our new QA/programmer, went back to all the previous days and added the new pose Haku has drawn for Jørgen to earlier scenes. It's truly lovely to see our boy get more expressive!
Because of the trip, I won't be as active the next few weeks. I intend to take a closer look at what I have written for Lake's side story, and I'll be posting updates on any new assets.
