THE BEACH BOYS!!!!
MY HISTORY WITH THE BEACH BOYS AS OF NOW
This might shock some folks, but my own experience with the Beach Boys is fairly limited. I of course know the big hits - I know Surfin USA, Good Vibrations, God Only Knows, Kokomo, I Get Around (I sang that last one in a high school boys group too lol).
I've of course listened to Pet Sounds - excellent album that still sounds gorgeous to this day. I'm very partial to I Just Wasn't Made For These Times, in part because of it being used in a Mad Men scene. (I'd link it, but it's late in the show's history and I don't wanna spoil it for anyone. Mad Men's a great show btw!)
I have ample respect for Brian Wilson as a songwriter and producer, I know Mike Love is a bit of an asshole, and I even know that Summer In Paradise is an absolute godawful album. Shoutout Todd in the Shadows and his great video on it.
However, that's basically it. Pet Sounds is the only full album of theirs I've heard, and I don't know the band's history beyond the VERY broad strokes. So as you can imagine, I'm pretty excited to get into them.
One other nice thing to learn - for the longest time, I thought this was gonna be a Prince situation, where the artist has an ungodly amount of albums AND lore to them. But turns out, Beach Boys only put out 29 albums. Which... I mean, that's still a lot, but I was expecting 40-50. I take my wins where I can get them!
(And before someone asks - even though it's not technically a mainline album, yes I will very likely dedicate a whole section to Smile.)

It's interesting to see who's still high up compared to the last poll (The Cure and Lady Gaga, I believe, were both in the top 5 of the previous poll) and who jumped up all of a sudden (NIN and Beastie Boys). Hell, the Beach Boys weren't even in the last poll!
