DESCRIPTION

Good morning!

I'm pleased to bring you the start of a new series, a refreshed take on my Wednesday story, Supervillain!

If all goes according to plan, I'll be releasing chapters on Monday and Friday. My priority is, and will continue to be, Melia the Magnificent. In the event of a crisis, I will drop this story before I drop Melia, but let's hope no trouble comes our way.

For those of you who read Supervillain when I posted it on a Wednesday a while back, the first few chapters will be very similar. I've made a few changes here and there, tweaked a few words, but overall, I'd say it's the same start. Mostly I've tried to add a layer of polish by editing and spell checking. The first couple of chapters won't be locked behind a membership, as I re-post the edited portions and work on building up a backlog. Once I release the point where the original story stopped, I'll move it over to the standard "Word Enjoyer" tier and post them exclusively on my Patreon until there's enough of a head start (probably 8 at the beginning, like Melia was). Then I will create a page for it on Royal Road...and I might try Scribblehub again, though my last attempt there was not fruitful.

The first chapter of SV will be dropping shortly, and again, it's not much different. But for now, I'll leave you with the synopsis and a potential cover. Both the synopsis and cover are a work in progress and might change in the future.

A huge thanks to PFlare and Briar Rosier for creating the cover and helping me tweak the wording!

Have a great day!

Synopsis

Labels.

Everyone has one. They can be nice, they can be mean. They can be horribly inaccurate. And most of the time, in the grand scheme of things, they don’t really matter anyway.

But to Tiff VanDyne, 16-year old Junior in high school, they’re kind of a big deal. Especially since her day-to-day routine revolves around blending in so she doesn’t stand out. Why would she want to? The last thing Tiff wants to do is paint a target on her back. After all, isn’t high school all about preparing kids for the bigger world?

A world filled with Metahumans, superheroes and supervillains, sidekicks and henchmen, and everything in between. A world where Rifts open randomly and unspeakable terrors threaten to pour out unless Delvers cleanse them from within. A world where everybody, after their 16th birthday, Awakens to the System.

Not everybody is cut out to be a hero, and to Tiff, that’s fine. She’s more than content to become an average, everyday Citizen, free from the spotlight and the world’s judging eyes. It might not be the most glorious label in the world, but “average” is exactly where Tiff wants to be.

Until her System finally comes online and saddles her with a single, damning word.

Supervillain.

If Tiff was forced to choose a stance on the morality scale, she would have gone the other route. As a goodie-two-shoes, she followed all the rules. She never even stole a pen from the Library! What did Tiff know about being evil? She wasn’t just a villain, she was super.

And to top it off? She has a quirk that makes it so she can no longer lie.

Now Tiff has to come to terms with becoming a “Dungeon Master” (whatever that means),  known as the scourge of the underworld, the “Dark Queen” (who wrote this?). She’ll need to commandeer the local mafia, slap some shady politicians into shape, and make her city’s crime a little more organized. All while studying for Friday’s English exam.

A tale of boxes, breaking out of them, and figuring out that maybe, the real friend was the supervillain we made along the way. If the System is going to shatter Tiff’s conceptions of the world, she’s going to show it that a villain can be both super…and good. Or something. As the old saying goes, don’t judge a book by its cover!

…except this one. Go right ahead.

What to expect:

No romance.

Mostly slice of life, not action driven.

Not an evil MC.

Very light LitRPG elements, using Awakening with a System in a modern day setting.
